She is absolutely fantastic. It's hard enough to run around the stage and have enough breath to sing but she's ALWAYS in key. She hit every not flawlessly and effortlessly. Such a star. One of the best performers out there, even now! She performs now with just as much energy, it's truly astonishing.
I love her and I've always loved her but no, she does not perform now the same way nor sound the same. Hard to understand why people have a blind love and devotion without looking at the reality as well,
Good God...I feel like I have seen a once in a lifetime show. If not for two Wilson sister's, there would only be Patty in that coveted Queen of Rock and Roller's. She truly has a phenomenal voice. Eric Robertson...many thanks for sharing this treat.
Pat maybe...but Stevie didn't have the same pipes. I thought Christine McVie was a better singer. But they all told us stories we can't ever forget. And because of you're reply you made me watch it again...lol! Awesome...thanks!!!
This is a great video. I've seen Patty Smyth several times, both back in the '80's and more recently. While she obviously doesn't have the pipes she had when she was 25, she still sounds great. And she still runs around around the stage and even still does a lot of the same little dance moves. Always a great show!
This is my favorite i've uploaded by far..The cover song at the end of the Japan show, thats when i put Patty above Mcvie,Tarja Turanan,Frida, even Ronstadt as my fav female in music ever,or any form of entertainment.
Eric Robertson Agreed. Thank you for posting this. This is by far the best live show I’ve seen Patty Smyrh perform. She hit all the notes that got me hype on the cd. The best
I LOVE THE VOICE THE STYLE THE MUSICANS..!!!! I LOVE SCANDAL.....I LOVE PATTY SMYTH MUSIC ....AND ALL HER SONGS...FOREVER AND EVER............!!!!!!!! 😀🥰😍🤩

The more I watch Patty and Scandal I see what Eddie Van Halen saw in her !!! Patty's a Rocker !!! Wish she had done something with EVH it would've been Good !!! This version of Warrior is Awesome ! No offense Sammy but I can picture her singing Best Of Both Worlds and marching around the stage like Sammy in front of Eddie and Micheal !!! That's what Eddie saw in her thru his musical talented eyes !!!
What a great performer. That she is hitting those notes at that tempo is impressive. This is the 80s before all of the bullshit tech that these 'over night successes' use. She was definitely a hard working singer. McEnroe found a keeper.
A real rocker and admirable chick. New Yorker.. we used to really grow excellent stuff over here. The original band though should have stayed intact. Edit: P.S WOW!! Born to Rock. A real natural.
This number is my favorite! We Philly girls love our Patty! I recognize her voice singing with the Hooters making "Where Do The Children Go?" even more beautiful! A true treasure, can always make me feel young.
She killed Warrior !!! She sings from her Heart ♥ for sure !!! She and John are a perfect match ! John played with his Heart to whether you liked him or not ! He made watching tennis exciting!
I remember watching this on MTV back in 83/84 30 years later, I consider it a rock n roll hall of fame induction performance NO Girl sings like Patty and she moves like David Lee Roth.
Patty has a HOF voice, too bad there was too much fighting in the band that broke them up. It would have been extremely interesting if she would have become Van Halen's singer when Eddie asked her to.
Yeah, what might have been. At this point I'd settle for Wolfie finding some single song Patty did with Eddie as a test that's never heard the light of day.
Wow!!! When she said to her parents that she wanted to be a singer, she definitely wasn't joking 😆 When she said, phew!! this is hard work, I couldn't agree with her more from watching her performance, but she said it's fun like a born singer, my favorite of hers is "beat of a heart" ❤ Rock singers put their voices into overdrive like a rock guitar distortion overdrive 🎸 Now that is hard work 😎
I fell in love with Patty in 1983. I was 21. So glad I found this. Her's is The best rocker chick voice ever! She was offered David Lee Roth's spot when VanHalen kicked him out..Could you imagine? She was a new Momma and turned Eddie down. Her career went on though with so many masterpieces to this day! Check out "Unbreak"
For me,its Smyth/Branigan and Maria Mckee...I do like Wilde also......I did make a Branigan playlist which sadly keeps getting clips removed from due to copyright or something.
Zach was right about Patty being a great singer. Unfortunately, the record producers didn't realize that collaboration of the band created the hits. The Record company always looked for Patty to be a solo artist. Scandal could have been a great band with a decade of hits. Lost opportunity. IMO

Send me an email ... ric41goins@gmail.com ....i've seen a few expensive copies on Ebay and such, but i can send the USB i uploaded it from for about 1/2 what they are charging.
I'm listening to the first concert footage and as a bassist I'm thinking who is this absolutley rock solid dude on bass.Looked closer and F$%k me it is him.Just watched Scandal on Bands Reunited and Kasim Sulton played with them because Ivan Elias had passed by the time that they filmed the episode.God his tone, feel and vocals are top shelf. Patty's version of the Gladys Knight and The Pips' "If I Was Your Woman" is a show stopper. My Lord the woman has an amazing voice with unmistakable character.
The initial 50 minutes is from June.1987 'Sony Music TV' show in Tokyo,Japan...then interviews and clips from 1984/85..then that last clip is also from mid 1987 on a Japanese TV show...
