Last January and February, I tried my hardest to catch one of these seemingly ubiquitous ecosystem terrorizers. I met a very friendly commercial Catfisherman on the water named Donald. He gave me a giant bucket load of gizzard shad. I froze the shad in my freezer (smelled great!) and pulled them out to go fishing. To my surprise, it worked! At least for one catfish. I still need to figure out what I can do with the catfish that I catch there. Too much for me to eat, and I feel bad releasing it back into the river, where they are eating all the blue crabs. If anyone has any ideas, please leave a comment.
Also, if you have any advice or suggestions on how to better fish for them, please let me know in the comments section.
