This video reviews the Cadence CS10 reels which I have used for over 3 years. I give all the details of their functionality including the clutch, their weight and measurements. I look at both the 3000 and 4000 sized reels.

Great review of the Cadence CS10 reels Paul..I've always been a Shimano man in the dim & distant past, still using a Shimano Aero Match 3 for light waggler work & a Shimano Stradic GTM 3000 for my canal bream feeder fishing.. however I'm fully aware of Cadence, having subscribed to their website and I'm now thinking of purchasing the CS10 3000 for pairing up with my Drennan Acolyte Ultra 11ft float rod for light balsa wagglers and also Drennan visi wags for ranges upto 30 metres on the wider sections for my canal bream fishing.. also I would pair up the 3000 size with my Drennan Acolyte Ultra 10ft bomb rod & my Preston Supera SL 11ft light feeder for fishing small cages or window feeders for bream work as well.. Excellent review.

Great video Paul. Very informative as usual. As a side note, I was interested in your comments about line. I think most of us who have been doing this for some time know that the Manufacturers stated diameters and stated breaking strains vary wildly. For example Guru Drag line in 8lbs breaking strain is 0.28mm. This is massively different to the Matrix line you showed which states it is 0.20mm. Other manufacturers provide lines of 8lbs breaking strain, but again all with different stated diameters. Of course people will say that the difference is due to some line being 'High Tech' or 'Pre-Stretched', but this is a minefield for newbie anglers. If you are able, I think it would be a useful exercise to put some of these claims to the test, especially with the line going to a knot. For example, the Figure 8 Knot most of us use to attach hooklengths. I would do it myself, but it gets very expensive to ship lines out to Australia, only to find they don't measure up.

Thanks for the good feedback. I’ll have a think about testing lines, my scales aren’t very hi-tech but you’ve got me thinking!

@@paulstacklereviews1695 Thanks Paul. Don't worry if you don't do a video on this. It's difficult finding enough lines to test without it costing a fortune. One possibility might be to have a chat with other anglers to see which brand and breaking strain they are using and then get feedback on any good/bad points. Personally, I find that some thin 'High tech' lines don't like a sharp strike into a big fish when using a figure 8 Loop knot. I have had instances where the initial shock causes the line to break at the knot. I would be interested to see if others have experienced the same problem.

I have a couple of the 4000s and good review just one thing is the line lay has a rear taper even with washers removed! I mean slightly lays more line at rear of spool really annoying. But smooth loads of cranking power and totally agree with the wouldn’t pay more for the Daiwa, I own 3 tdms and 2 tdrs are they better than the cadence? Only on line lay but the cs10 is a fantastic reel

Hi I've been debating for months weather buy a couple of these reels but I've heard of people mentioning something about having to mave washers etc. But I wasn't sure what they meant and that put me off thinking you shouldn't have to take anything off a new reel and if you need to that's not very good really.

Another great video. I have just started fishing with a pole and want to buy some rods and reels next, do you use their rods too. Many thanks

Thanks for the great feedback. I have rods from Drennan, Matrix, Shimano, Preston and 1 Cadence (13ft no 1). They all cost between £100 and £180. The Cadence is a very good rod but there are lots of great rods out there from all manufacturers, I’d advise going to a good shop with a good choice and seek advice if you are new to buying. Also look at recommendations on forums such as Maggotdrowning.com, although be aware that some people always say what they have is the best! There are some great rods for £50-£80, you don’t need to spend a fortune and if you’re new to rod and line something cheaper and more robust might be a better bet. If you then upgrade later you can sell on your rods.

Thanks for a great informal video Paul. This Is the sc5 3000 and sc10 4000 reels your talking about ? Because I think there now £49.99 which is a very reasonable price.

One of the most important points is reach from finger to spool lip

Agree, especially if you use the clutch to play fish so you can apply some pressure if required.

@@paulstacklereviews1695 I was thinking more for using the reel bail arm open for trotting on running water.
