The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I had the pleasure to meet him in person at the Santa Monica Public Library in 2013. He was on his autobiography book tour. There was only 40 people attendance a real intimate setting. That 1 hour he shared with us his growing up in Canada...Diana...as a young boy. How he spent several summers in Los Angeles at his uncle's house. Frank Sinatra...the Mob in Las Vegas, who payed him. He took questions and answered all of them. Then pictures with him, my 13 year old daughter and me. Took the time to talk with my daughter. Paul was so gracious. An evening we'll never forget.

This song has been covered by many. Paul's is One of the best, not only vocally, but his facial expressions, he makes you feel like, he's really asking you. One of my favorites by him is... "Times Of Your Life" released in 1975, which was originally written for a Kodak commercial. I don't think I will ever be able to listen that song, and not get emotional. Thank you for sharing! 💖

Fron what I remember, the Ed Sullivan Show and where this video took place in is in/from America, but Paul Anka is Canadian. Even though Google claims Paul is "Canadian-American"

Did he ever sing "Diana" on the Ed Sullivan show? If so I'd love to see that!

On his first two appearances in 1957, he sang "Diana". There is a very good chance that they will post his second appearance singing the song since they have been showing that clip for years in their "Best of Sullivan" syndicated packages which have been airing on different stations since the 1990's. It was on the same show that Jimmie Rodgers sang "Honeycomb", which they posted recently, so I'd be very surprised if it didn't show up eventually. I'd love to see all the footage of Paul Anka.
