Went down to Alberta for the first time this year. Coming from europe it was so awesome to see the hospitality, beauty and warmth in this province. The people here made me feel like Alberta was my home away from home. I will definitely be back someday!
You appreciate it so much more if you were not born or raised here. I remember seeing the wild horses and thinking...just...wow. (Lived in Chile, Germany, France, Italy Spain, USA, Mexico). Alps and Andes also have fantastic mountains.
Are you Blackfoot or Cree? I am also first nations. I grew up around the Ojibwe in Ontario, then move to Alberta for 2 years and absolutely fell in love with the place. Then I moved out to New Brunswick with the Mi'kmaq. After 8 years away I finally moved back to Alberta and have settled in near Blackfoot territory. What is it like to live in colorado? Wife and I would like to retire in Arizona one day.
I'm from Montana. I love Alberta. Spent enough time up there the border guards knew me well. Give me ten minutes and I pick up the accent again. I still have some... and I've been gone for about fifteen years. I'm planning to go home for a visit. I found this song last night and about lost it. I miss home. Southern Alberta is as much home as northwest Montana.
Southern Alberta and NW Montana are pretty much the exact same. The main difference is political. They both have that amazing big sky that they're known for. I haven't explored Montana as much as I want to though! Maybe next summer I'll take a road trip to see Glacier and the Museum of the Rockies on the way to Yellowstone.

Alberta is definitely the Texas of Canada. Strong economy, oil country, beef country, generally conservative, and independent. As an American I absolutely love this song.
We moved to Alberta just 7 months ago and we were driving back from Portland and about 10 minutes from the Alberta border, this song started playing on the radio. I could relate to this song more than I could ever imagine! ❤
Not sure just how that works..... I'm Alberta born, raised, and resident to this day. But Hell Yeah!, almost every time I re-enter AB, from any compass direction, this tune hits... thinking border town radio stations keep it on their permanent playlists..... and I thank those stations, for welcoming us back, again and again... and for making newcomers, tourists and residents alike, feel like they are finally coming home, for the first time, for all time!!!✌🏼🇨🇦
I'm aussie and lived in Alberta for 2 years, I'm moving back in 18 months because I fell in love with the city of Edmonton and can't stay in Australia anymore. Berta is calling.

Paul, i lived in BC when this song came out, was moving home to Calgary the next day. I cried when i heard it, Alberta is a special place. The big blue sky can never be explained, thank you for the song and thank you for being a person that stays true to his roots!
My Family and I are Alberta Bound, planning and praying for our return there this November. I am from Canada originally and my Aussie Bride came up for our 2012 Wedding in Banff where I was living. I migrated back with her to Sydney, and two years later we moved to Adelaide after having our first son. Here, we had our second son, only daughter and three more sons, and our final and 7th child and 6th son, is due in July. I left Alberta as a newly married man, and will be returning a few weeks away from our 12 year anniversary, and with 7 children. I am proud to bring my family to the best province in Canada and will be proud to settle there with my family and call it home. #AlbertaProud. I moved so my wife could remain closer to her family, especially as we were starting out, but now it is time to do what we feel is best for the family we have become together. We welcome to connect with Albertans who would like to, even now while we prepare, and to build on such possible friendships more, once we get settled there. In the meantime, many blessings upon all those here and let's work together to help continue making and keeping Alberta great and the place we can be as proud of as Paul clearly is ;-)
We've probably got the biggest variation of terrain, some down to earth people (well, most of 'em) hell, we can go through all 4 seasons in a week! God I love this province.
Old comment but.. I do hope you are not referring to you guys driving, guess most of you seem to fly when you drive. Oh, and hi from the other "twin province".
Why is he not driving a Chevy or A Ford or a Dodge? thats what we drove on my grandpapas farm in southern Alberta one mile north of the border and ten miles East of Coutts/Sweetgrass border.
I LOVE Paul Brandt! I'm an American and this song reminds me of life in rural Kentucky. My husband brought me here (he spent his life here until he joined the Air Force) from Delaware 6 months ago and the people are amazing! We have coal mines, beef cattle operations, clean skies, and an independent spirit. We just had an EF-2 tornado blow through my area on Sunday. No casualties or injuries but a lot of destruction and the whole community came out to clean up the roads and stabilize damaged property. Kentucky and many areas of rural America have the same attitude as Alberta. This song can apply to any area of rural America.
In 2013 we here in Alberta had, what was at the time, the costliest natural disaster in Canadian history, when floods swept the southern half of our province. EVERYONE came out to help their neighbours clean up and rebuild their lives. There are still some scars, but it showed what humans are really capable of. I even have a picture in a book of Paul here wearing a mask, covered in dirt, and chucking debris into a dumpster. That was the spirit. If you were Albertan, you were out there helping. Superstar or everyday guy, politician or hockey player, everyone worked side by side.

Born, raised, and lived all my life in Alberta. Been to many other places in the world, but Alberta, Canada always has been, and always will be, my home.
I live in the same little community that some of this video was shoot. I am so glad that I can look out my window and see the frank slide in the morning. And rise my kids in a community that has suffered but also triumphed over tragedy.

I visited Banff Alberta in 2003 and didn’t want to leave, I fell in love with the independent down home outlook of the people that live there and the natural beauty of the place. I’m Alberta Bound just as soon as I can.

My great, great, great grandfather was one of the first Chinese railroad pioneers to settle in Calgary. Dad immigrated in the 70’s from Hong Kong, Mom from the Philippines. I lived in the Northern oil towns, have family in Edmonton, trained in the Army across the province, and have 4 little girls born in Calgary. I Love Alberta.
You are so Albertan it makes me happy. You're here because of the opportunity and the incredible things Alberta represents. There is nothing that makes me happier than knowing people love my province like I do.

French Canadian lived in Edmonton for 8 years while i was working there, moved back East 2 years ago. Missed Alberta since then, I've might have been born in Quebec but when other peoples asked me where i'm from i always say Alberta. Hope i will be able to go as soon as possible with my family
Just moved here 4 months ago from Ontario. I finally left communism! Alberta is the best place on earth. Proud to raise a family here and finally enjoy being a Canadian in the best province this country has! Alberta bound until I die.
Moved away from Alberta in ‘98 and lived in Vancouver, Bahamas and now New York and I would move back to Alberta in a heart beat. Every time we drive home, my heart starts pounding when I know we are getting close to the border. I’ll be Alberta bound for the rest of my life.

Story time. Playing a game of Risk 2210. Terrain is very different, and one of the countries in North America is just Alberta. Placed some of my forces there, and immediately got surrounded. I had to turn my attention to the moon, because there was no more hope for me on earth. My last little army man figure is on Alberta, I am completely surrounded and start getting attacked. I had one 6 sided die to roll in defense, the attacking player had three 6 sided dice to roll. The way it works, is you compare the highest roll of the defender to the highest roll of the attacker. If the defender has a higher highest roll, the attacker loses one army man, and vice versa. 1st attack? I roll a 6 in defence, so my one Alberta man wins. 2nd attack? I ROLL ANOTHER 6, which is crazy rare, good for Alberta man, he is surrounded and going down with the ship, but he's taking some enemy troops with him! 3rd attack. ANOTHER 6!!! EXTREMELY RARE!!!! AT THIS POINT EVERY PLAYER IS ROOTING FOR ALBERTA MAN!!! At this point, I managed to defend enough to thin out the enemy forces, that I could no longer be attacked (there is a rule saying you can't attack a territory if you only have only 1 army token on your territory you wish to attack from) So, Alberta man survives to the next turn, and the enemy army has replenished forces, while I haven't had the chance to yet. 4th attack. I roll a 3 for defence, but it's higher than the attack roll. 5th attack, ANOTHER 6!!! 6th attack.... I roll a 4, and Alberta man is snuffed out. This song I have chosen as the song Alberta man sang during his last stand. He is gone, but not forgotten, living on in our hearts forever.
I had almost THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE last time I played risk, My "Berta Bois" (a troop 6 men strong) as I so eloquently named them held out completely surrounded for a good 15 or so attacks with no ability to be replenished till there numbers were dwindled to just 1 man who held alone for a final 3 attacks before being felled. Was damn proud of The Berta Bois!
this song speaks to me on a different level, I've been travelling since I was 6 months old all the way up to 16 I'm about to be 19 tomorrow. Born and raised in Alberta and I will die in Alberta
I'm from Saskatchewan but some of my best years were spent in Alberta. Sitting here in Australia, this song brings back memories of those magical days.
I am a proud Albertan. Next summer, my son and I are going to Chicagoland because he wants to see the world's biggest video arcade, Galloping Ghost Arcade, in Brookfield, Illinois. I love it, and it will be cool to drive my SUV back to God's country in Alberta.
@Lisa Simpson love how you just generalize an entire province. That means by your opinion that EVERYONE is a racist in Alberta if you like it. I'm also going to guess that you're the type of dipshit to slash someone's tires if they have an Alberta license plate?
My brother died last week. 10 years who we had both moved to Calgary and he played this song over and over. He moved back to B.C. but came out a couple timed a year for hunting, visits and any other reason he could think of. Can’t stop playing it now.

I love Alberta dearly. My first steps in Canada were in the Province and it made me feel instantly at home. It's a wonderful place and it's good to be reminded about it by this song.
