Paul Dukas - L'Apprenti Sorcier 

I am happy that I can understand some of the french comments, studying french paid off.

That's an astonishingly fine performance of this old warhorse. Many thanks to the conductor, the members of the orchestra, and to whomever created this recording.

I don't speak French either but that IS The Sorcerer's Apprentice isn't it ? Look at that Conductor ! The musicians are glued to him and they make Fantastic Music !

Superbe ! on ne peux s'empêcher de revoir Mickey qui se bat avec les balais et les sceaux remplis d'eau enchantés qu'il ne peux plus maîtriser jusqu'à que l'endroit totalement inondé par les flots des sceaux qui se vident à grandes eaux ne réveille le maître magicien qui fin à tout çà , géniaux Paul Dukas et Walt Disney :o))

Le timbre des bassons est absolument envoutant quand ils sont plusieurs à l'unisson.. Et quand relancés par le contrebasson, ils s'y remettent et sont rejoints par les clarinettes dans le grave... On atteint le sublime.. Mais tout est fabuleux dans cette pièce. Merci vous êtes tous merveilleux, vraiment.

Magnifique! Le contrebasson est un instrument magnifique, impressionnant, esthétiquement et musicalement parlant, donnant avec les bassons une tessiture sans pareille.

Je ne connais pas la différence entre un basson et un contre basson, mais je peux juste dire qu'à l'écoute de cette interprétation, j'ai des frissons et des contre frissons. Merci

By the way, the conductor's name is Christian Vásquez. Strange that this can only be found somewhere in the comments. He was 25 years old when the recording was made and he comes from Venezuela.

Bravo! Ever since I was a child when I first heard this program music from watching "Fantasia" (music conducted by the one and only Leopold Stokowsky, who shakes hands with Micky Mouse the apprentice to the sorcerer), I have been fascinated by this miniature masterpiece for the past 60 years or so (yes, sixty years!). This performance is the first one that I got to hear and "see" the musicians so close (thanks to the camera crew's skillful control and movement). In particular, I was struck by the musicians' ensemble playing and attention to the progression, timbre, tempi, balance of the various sections, to each other (yes, they listen to and enjoy, even sometimes smiling at each other in this terrific team effort), and, of course, to the conductor. The result is a wonder. I thank each one of the musicians in this performance. (By the way, I'm puzzled by those who "dislike" this performance. Please tell us why you "dislike" and what could the musicians have done better.)

A great thing to show my son, who is learning to play the bassoon. This piece (composed in 1897) is a classic. There's so much to love in 19th century music.

This is the international theme of all LARP magicians. An endless source of inspiration when it comes to feel what mastering magic and casting spells would feel like. This piece always gives me inspiration to write magician characters. It does feel like the essence of magic, like if Dukas really did once experienced the fact of being a apprentice inside a mossy tower, trying to learn how the secrets of magic work, and trying to escape the control of his master to casts his first owns spells. Incredible.
