Clippers fans have been making the injury excuse for years at this point. Acting like he won a title is a cheap jab at someone who enjoyed a satisfying win, which clippers can always do when they beat the lakers because that’s the most important game they ever win. They have those lakers statistics ready because it means that much to finally feel relevant. Give it a few months. For one reason or another, you’ll be watching other NBA teams competing in the playoffs pissed at the organization for being what it is now and for what it has been throughout its entire history. You’ll be pissed at Westbrooks bricks off of the backboard and awfully timed 4th quarter turnovers. You’ll be pissed at both Hardens disappearing act in the playoffs and his non-committal to an organization he asked to go to. You’ll be pissed at Kawhi pretending his body can hold up for an NBA season when it’s clear he should have retired years ago, and your management chose to invest their entire future into that. Not even 12 straight wins against the Lakers could make them relevant in their own city. A playoff win could but that’s a lot to ask for clearly. Fun to talk about “acting like they won the title” from a team that hasn’t been able to do it once in 53 years.
