Definitely. Paul George hasn't been a great defensive player since about 2014. He's still solid, but people keep putting him on this pedestal when he hasn't been that super elite defensive player for years. Like most players, the more energy he started expending offensively the less he expended defensively.
Butler: better leader , more clutch , better playmaker , more aggressive PG : better shooter , slightly better handle , not as aggressive It’s by a hair but I got to take Butler
you think the same jimmy butler that throw all his teammates under the bus on every squad he play for is the better leader he never even led his team out the first round of the playoffs as the leader of a team
As you saw in the video it’s pretty close but they replaced playmaking with just pick and roll🧐, Butler is a better playmaker and he definetly a better Leader
I definitely like PG more, but even if I didn’t I would take him over Jimmy because he’s taller and longer. Nobody can really guard KD but if you kept up with some of their battles this summer you’d know that nobody came closer than PG
Freeman I gotta look into that. KD scored at will against him one on one in the WCF but if he defended him well this summer I’ll try to dig some footage up
we should take into consideration the healing factor of PG, the dude broke his leg in half got back to the league picked up we he left just like nothing happened..Butler mad respect too since his story of almost being homeless to where he is right now that's hardwork and dedication right there.
@@thebutlerdidit365 apart from the 3pt line, Jimmy shoots better from every single spot in the midrange, and they pretty much have the same field goal percentage at the rim.
1:30 the reason Paul George has more balance on that shot is because he was moving to his left on a catch and shoot, while Jimmy dribbles to his right ad picks up the ball with his right hand, so he purposly twists in the air to get his shoulder in line with the rim...... Love the channel and video
Nice video and it’s good that you have thoughtful/honest views of players. PG is easily more talented. The midrange vote was questionable given what was said about his shooting before. And PG has more thing he can do in the midrange that should offset Jimmy’s higher percentage. Kawhi and PG would have been good because they have the same tier of offense and defense. Nice video. Keep up the good content.
Sub from because I love the way you stayed unbiased and broke down the players strengths and weaknesses which neither one had any weaknesses but still great vid
Shooting: Westbrook Slashing: Tie Athleticism: Westbrook Defense: Tie Playmaking: John Wall Clutch: Westbrook No comparison. Westbrook is on another level to John Wall.
If I have to pick, I would love to have both on my team. why take 1 when u can take 2. also thx for the quality content. young audience that just start playing bball will learn so much from this type of video.
Rookie mitchell > rookie wade ,but i really doubt than sophmore mitchell would be better than wade , heat would win the title if wade wasnt injured against pistons in 2005
George is a natural talent at bball and makes everything look smooth, effortless, and beautiful. As a result he doesnt play as hard as he should cause he dont feel he needs to. U can tell that bball comes to him easy. But jimmy is that guy that is not a natural but has worked his butt off to get as good as he is. Also Jimmy is a leader and his defensive intensity is infectious to his teammates. Butler reminds me of myself. I was never good at bball unless i play almost every day, then get into a good rhythm and im able to play well. Some guys i know could not play ball for 2 months and get on the court and u cant tell. Cause the coordination to be good at bball comes to them easily. Thats Paul George. If paul George worked like butler, he would be absolutely dominant
I really feel like butler should have won this 169 more ft attempts and Jimmys finishes were better than PG’s and we all know Jimmy should have won the defensive category... look at defensive stats for both jimmy with almost twice as many steals and block...
Kawhi vs durant Jhon wall vs westbrook Bradley Beal vs oladipo Cousins vs embid or kat Devin booker vs cj Albridge vs kevin love Tatum vs ingram Giannis vs anthony davis
Jimmy was playing with one hand after coming back from his injury in the rockets series he has way more heart then Paul George Paul George is jus a better 3 point shooter an slightly better handle , butler better rebounder , leader , more clutch , better passer and slasher Jimmy G > PG I like both but there’s a reason why timberwolves team had a better record before butler went down mid season and why Paul George didn’t originally make the allstar team .
TheButler DidIT more heart stop PG came back from one of the worst injuries in nba history and still became a star. Also PG played the whole season with a elbow injury that he mentioned 1 month into the season and still was cooking people. Also PG was a sf and is not loved by the media hence how he didn’t make a nba defensive team after being 2 in steals and 1 in deflections. Butler is a better leader and more clutch but PG is slightly better in every other category.
TheButler DidIT actually he was the only one locking the rookie up I watched all those games and Gobert deserves praise he made Westbrook look like garbage in the paint. Mitchell was great but he scored all his points off of switches when PG was sent through 3 screens to get a brewer or Westbrook matchup. Out played how he lost yes which is what matters most but he averaged 25 a game with a horrendous game 6 and without that bad game he averaged 29 so outplayed no. Butler is great but PG is slightly better. Utah has Gobert who erases every mistake his teammates make defensively. Watch the tape it will show that Mitchell was constantly looking for switches onto defenders not named PG and Grant.
Instead of Pick and Roll why didn’t y’all just use playmaking as a whole, that’s where Butler would have had PG beat, plus I would still take Butler because he’s more of an alpha
William Chukumah Depends on what you need. PG will accept his role if he’s the number 2 or 3, but will Jimmy? Probably not. If you need one of them to be the best player I’ll take Jimmy. Kinda like Westbrook vs KD as far as mentality goes.
PG is slept on since the his injury but personally he's my favorite player because there's nothing he can't do honestly we've seen him shoot form the logo clamp down on "superstars" and even hit a 360 windmill in game frankly if he was a better leader he would be the best in the game
Markelle Fultz can’t say that PG had a broken leg and is still a star that takes incredible work ethic. Most people who suffer that injury would become Harrison Barnes type players.
Jimmy does everything better beside shooting and they are both elite defenders also jimmy team was the third seed and was leading the young wolves team and Paul George team didn’t even have a better record and he playing with a another mvp
TheButler DidIT so handles, vision, the ability to play off ball, shooting from all areas and PG is the best at avoiding screens. Also PG told donavon he wanted to set plays oh and he still scored 21 a game. PG is not a great leader but he is slightly better than Butler in many categories.
Joshua Virag Jimmy is a better passer so stop saying George has more vision also playing off the ball falls under the better shooting aspect that I already gave to him , reason why jimm made the allstar team originally and pg didn’t
I'd take Butler because he's a rough rider and I like having those on my team. George has been known to shy away from the big moment and apparently...even the big cities.
Paul George is more talented (height, wingspan etc) but Butler has the slight edge overall as the better player. He works harder and defends better. PG is hopeless at guarding his position, other SFs usually have their way with him and Lebron tends to humiliate him. Butler on the other hand defends other SFs and SGs well and holds his own against Lebron almost all the time. Before you talk of defensive "versatility", the player got to be able to defend players at his position well enough.
If you run into the cavs/heat on your way to the conference finals you may as well get credited for making it. George had the luck to have the better placement in bracket
Great video, I also give a very slightly edge to Paul George, but you forgot 2 very important categories: passing and clutch, Butler is better at both.
Joshua Virag Dude jimmy been averaging more assist for like the last 4 seasons he finds his teammates more it’s that simple jimmy is a better passer and he doesn’t turn the ballover as much as George either
TheButler DidIT who has been PG’s teammates outside of Westbrook and Melo he has had bums who can’t score consistently. Butler had just this year alone towns, wiggins, and Crawford who can all score 20 with ease. Like PG had miles, and Myles turner as his best scorers on his team. Butler has D wade, Rondo and mirotic who all can either open the floor or hit shots consistently. Yes D wade was old but he is still better than anyone on the Pacers roster from PG’s time. Also Melo was garbage this year on the list of the wolves players I mentioned he is last in terms of scoring ability of assists. Butler also was the main ball handler while PG played off ball more especially this year since Westbrook pounds the ball for 15 seconds of the shot clock.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. I really can't decide between the two. One day its PG and the next its Butler. Both are elite two-way players and scorers. Behind LeBron, KD, and Kawhi, these guys round out the top 5 SF/wings (since Butler is more like a 2/3). Today, I say Butler.
This is it chief. Using a great balance of stats and visual evidence for your points. Sick of all the stat nerds that thing they know everything about the NBA
TheDJ Paul George is a choke artist , and jimmy team had the third seed ahead of the thunder before his injury and there’s a reason jimmy made the allstar team an Paul George originally didn’t make the cut
Last season - when butler was on the court - the wolves were 1st in offense compared to like 15 or higher when he was off. They were the 2nd best defensive team in the league with butler on the court compared to near last when he was off....
Tseten Dolker ...Dude what are you talkin bout he was jus a allstar starter in the 16-17 season and allstar 17-18 . why you act like jimmy game doesn’t translate too today’s game 😭🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😂😂😂
Pg can space the floor better. Play off ball better. Can dribble better. More versitile defender. Probably the best pick and roll defender in the league. Gets more steals even though he doesnt gamblr as much. Better off ball defender. Commitd less fouls on defence. Im not saying butlers game doesnt translate into todays league. Im ilsaying todays league heavily fabors pg style. In the 90s where there is less switching and hand checking butlers agressive style of defense will be favored. Butler is judt better at attacking the basket.
Tseten Dolker Paul George also gets less assist while turning it over more then jimmy , takes more shots then jimmy hey barely even averages more points then jimmy does , chokes more then jimmy and always goes on a horrific shooting slump each season last year had one where he couldn’t make a 3 for like 20 games dude was terrible in that stretch
Comepletely disagree . Pg can guard any position. One of the best pick and roll defender in the league. Commits less fouls and still manages to get more steals and blocks.
People keep saying the injury made him more of a shooter when he shot nearly as many threes the year before the injury as when he came back. His numbers improved his first full year after the injury as well.
I’ll bet everyone picking Jimmy Buckets over PG right now👉🏿today...especially after what Jimmy did with Miami Heat in the NBA Bubble 2020, Disney Wide World of Sports💯Jimmy is a bad man...no comparison‼️
PG is my favorite player and Jimmy is in my top 5!! I'd give the edge to PG only because at the end of the day PG could lead the league in scoring if that were his focus! Everything else is neck and neck when it comes to comparisons between the two.. PG's scoring gives him the edge over Jimmy B
PG is an easier fit due to his shooting. Butler is easier to build an offense around due to his passing and ability to draw fouls. I'd probably go with Butler now since Jimmy is playing his best basketball now and PG hasn't been quite the same player since 2013-14.
I like jimmy buckets a lot, but this season Pg13 proves that there is no comparison. Pg a better defender, shooter, far better dunker, better handles, better rebounder, more skilled, often takes over games etc. Butler is great, but george is on another level.
Both are excellent players. Paul George is clearly the more gifted and talented player. But Butler 100% puts forth more effort than any player on the floor anytime he’s on the court. I’d take PG under the right coach over Butler.
PG is an incredible player, he's better off the ball, and his handles and 3-point shooting are better. Butler's a better defender (no offense, By Any Means Basketball, but this isn't even close), a better finisher, and a better isolation scorer. PG is a two-way player (he makes a defensive effort) but Jimmy is an elite defender. People don't give 2-way players enough credit. There's a reason guys like Kawhi and JB find ways to win games with bad teams. There's a reason the Rockets almost beat the Warriors and it ain't James Harden.
