When I hear Paul Harvey's voice I hear my tractor on the background cause it was the only station I could pick up, I smell diesel fuel, I smell hay, I hear my dad's voice, I taste baloney and cheese sandwiches with lays potato chips, drink water from a water jug, sleep better than anyone from the city could even dream of. I didn't realize how happy I was when I was listening to Paul Harvey every day.
Exactly. The best way to grow up is on a mixed farm. Cattle, Hay, grain and pasture. I am right now in the fight of my life to get the family farm. Nobody else wants to do anything on it or run it but they all want the money if its sold. What a bunch of scabs.
@@sonofthegun5178 Unfortunately this is all to common. I know she something happens to my Dad and Uncle I'll be going through the same thing you're going through. It's extremely hard work. Only advice I give anyone is don't milk cows. Lol.
My late husband Kurt Markus contributed three photographs to this commercial I produced the shoot photographed in Eastern Montana in and around the towns of HIghwood and Geraldine. Early cold mornings to ride out with the farmers and ranchers to capture these photographs. Special thanks to the RIchards Group for making this commercial. xx Maria Markus
So you think your invisible imaginary god can bless farmers do you? You would think your god would help the two million plus children that starve to death every year around the world. Or how about people around the world who eat out of garbage dumps to survive. Or the millions that live in extreme poverty. Or how about the million plus children that are homeless here in the USA. It’s like your god doesn’t exist at all. Religious beliefs are ignorant primitive superstition grow up.
This aired during one of the Superbowls. It is powerful and 100% true. I worked on John Deeres in 1981. I was 24 years old. Went to many farms around North Texas to load them up on a flatbed. I knew a lot of farmers in my area. Good people. Hard working souls for little money.
Resr in peace Paul Harvey 🙏 my grandmother listened to you since i was a baby. I enjoyed your show till God took u to heaven 🙏. How i miss ❤u both until we all meet again in heaven. I thank u these letters to God are so beautifully written and appreciated 🙏. 🙏I cried when i heard them ❤😢
We don't respect or even think about the men and women who toil on the land and do all the things that Paul Harvey just mentioned. Respect to you all. You work so hard and I appreciate it. Thank-you.
I certainly do... I pray and have an appreciation for the farmers who produce our food and the truckers who get it to us. I also have an appreciation for the bees' hard work and contribution in this process. My grandfather was a farmer that contributed a lot to the community in his day. My mama grew vegetables throughout my whole childhood having to raise 7 children on her own as a widow... I learned from watching her, my love for growing vegetables and the like. It's very hard... but rewarding work.AD-B🙂
This is one of Paul Harvey's best tributes! I loved it when he first delivered it back in the 50s or 60s and it is still a wonderful tribute. Thank You Paul Harvey!
Paul Harvey has the knack for saying in few words what we all wish to say. I never get tired of hearing his observations. Bless his soul and thank you!!!
Tomorrow is my father in laws funeral, at 99+, he was one of these farmers that did everything in this amazing talk by Paul Harvey. He farmed in South Dakota, raised nine children, took them to schools for many years until some were old enough to drive, Church on Sundays nine miles away. Always working to better their lives, worked hard and prayed hard. May you Rest In Peace, the gate is closed it is your turn to relax and enjoy the peace of heaven! Love you forever Dad!
That's awesome. My grandfather farmed Iowa for a long time. I spent many hours many days out there. It's hard work, but it makes you feel good and that you earned it. We had one cow named lucky that we never slaughtered. She was more of a pet, the kindest of souls she was.
I thank God he gave me a farmer. You will never seen a stronger more caring person on this earth! And he works from dawn to dusk everyday. You would never know he is retired from a 10-12 hr job. And then he would always come home and farm and plow.Thank you God for this man.
I literally felt a little nauseous hearing all of that to than find out that someone decided to put this Steve Harvey bit in a commercial to sell a truck which is made by a well known and relatively well to do Auto motive company.and it's not like they're unveiling a super advanced truck which can also double as a tracker and ten fold more reliable and fuel efficient and affordable to the people they're advertising it to so for an organization's only focus is the bottom line which is make as much bank as easily as possible at any cost so long as we're most likely going to get away with it or have to pay a fine which is still cheaper than not doing whatever money saving schemes that got us the fine in the first place.Thats the typical big company with what you can expect vast majority of the time and they really haven't proven them selfs to have really truely cares about humanity and thats how most of the people high up in the company feels and wont cave to bigger more powerful entities than our selves like say a bank or another company which may also be gettimg extra support from said banks and some of the companies CEOs use to work for a key bank.So it's pretty sick that this company would use this to sell a truck..
I am tired of people telling me how I am so post to feel. I found nothing wrong with that commercial and if you are a dodge fan than you should buy the truck, social justices warriors be dammed!
I never get tired watching this video that still brings tears to my eyes. THIS is the heart and soul of America and to all farmers who may see and hear this video, THANK YOU so very much for all you do. G-d Bless you all.
I remember when this aired as a Dodge RAM commercial on the Superbowl. Still one of the most moving commercials ever put to TV. I remember it a decade later.
So true!!! RIP Paul Harvey and nearly 750 farmers who died during peaceful protest for their just demands in India. God bless farmer community around the world. Thank you sir.
I heard this during the Super bowl. When my baby brother died due to a farming accident his wife had it played during the funeral. I can't listen to it any more without tears.
Hello: My grandest gratitude for your grandaddy and all the love, dedication, and determination his hard work presented to not only help himself, his family, and those who would come after, but the country he worked hard to help through his servanthood and sacrifice. Appreciation inside your steps. God Bless, John German
I started growing my family gardens at 11 years old back in southern Ca , used to get beat up by the so called cool dudes then I got bigger nobody wanted to pick a fight then funny how that happens , now at 56 I’m living my dream here in Mo . Still grow a huge garden every year we have cattle not a bunch , Chickens , 6 dogs , and most of all Jesus Christ in my heart , we can feed ourselves and neighbors if times come that are written to come , God bless us all 🙏😇
What a powerful message, so sad that we take many of these essential workers, for granted. God bless, and keep farmers from the United states, and other countries safe, strong and respect for the All Mighty!
Even though I'm not at all religious, I feel this was one of the best commercials ever made. The sentiments are very powerful, and sometimes we need to be more aware of the people who really make America great.
@@danielharper635 The farmer's parents made the farmer. Cows made the cows, but humans created their huge udders. Nobody made the pastures, unless those were originally forested areas, in which case humans made them. Oh, and these aren't what I "think". They're what I know. It's not hard to learn -- and it's never too late. Yeah, I have a good heart... and a pretty good brain.
@@danielharper635 We don't know yet (assuming we go all the way to the origin of the universe, otherwise see above response from Astrobrant2). Some of us believe in critical thought, the basis of the scientific method, and acknowledge what we do not know. However, I am sensible and respect different opinions like yours and any beliefs you have. As an American I take the 1st amendment very seriously. You also seem to have a good heart!
My God if we only had this amazing, loving and masterful voice of Mr. Paul Harvey, to read one of his quotes or give advice right now during this most troubled times of 2021, not to mention the horrible year of 2020 and covid..how Mr. Harvey's voice would calm me no matter how I was feeling that day, to always, always leave me with a happy heart and smile..God only knows we ALL need some of that today..we miss you Paul..thank you for the happiness you brought to this gal from Texas..rest in glory..❤🙏
Its one of the few commercials thats done with dignity....and lets paul harvey rule the day....and only at the end does dodge insert...silently....their logo. Well done and tasteful.
Wow! This has to be one of the classiest Super Bowl ads ever! I'm so thankful for an ad such as this one in a day and age when most other ads seek to push the envelope.
I so love this!!! I love Paul Harvey, and I miss hearing him, as we used to!!!! Now that he’s passed on… I love his voice and his delivery and what he wrote and read! Everything was and is stupendous that he does! Thank you to whomever created this short video for RU-vid! Yes, we need to pray for the farmers and about the farmers and we need to think about them more and honor them, as Paul Harvey did here! Thanks to all you farmers, each and every day!
This was one of the best commercials ever! My pops would listen to Paul on the way to Nebraska and I'd be in hell in the back. Looking back I wish I could takes those trips again and listen to Paul, and spend time with my pops. Funny I own a dodge ram.
Besides the fact that I love Paul Harvey, I love that you put this on your channel. It reminds me of why I am doing what I'm doing and on such a small scale as to make most farmers laugh. Let them laugh. I know I can feed myself, my family, my animals, and my neighbors when tough time come. I do my best and have a great time doing it. All I have to do now is have enough income to make it all happen!
Yup. Just imagine if everyone could just grow a few tomato plants. Or cucumber. Just anything. What a difference it would make here in the US and possibly the world.
Can’t help getting a lump in my throat and wet eyes when I listen to this, no matter how may times. Thanks to Paul Harvey and thanks to the ad agency that set up the photo montage.
This made me appreciate farmers so much more than before and also inspires me to try to work on a farm at least once in my life just to see how it’s like
