Paul is Dead 1969 WPLJ radio special with 1979 update 

Most people do not know how James Paul died but we knew the Sgt Pepper Faul was a talented replacement. Original Paul and Billy going now by Sir Paul are very different looking. Sorry if you cannot see it.

I was a Beatles fan who left England for a year in 1969. Upon returning in November and first seeing them perform Get Back it struck me that this fellow did not look like Paul but someone older.

Does anyone ever stop to think of how the biggest money making machine in music at the time, never even toured after this supposedly happened? Is THAT actually the strongest piece of evidence the story has? That was IT! After Revolver, NO tour, ever, even despite the popularity of Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. Hmm..? MAGICAL - MYSTERY - "TOUR"? Was that title a joke at the world? Don't get me wrong. There's no question of their talents, songs, and voices--John's voice is amazing, and George was a true musical inspiration to me. Even IF all this about Faul is true, I still say their music is some of the greatest in all rock history. But the REAL story about who and what they actually WERE remains a true mystery. WHATever and WHOever they really were was indeed not what they SOLD us they were. So what. The act was awesome and it changed popular music in ways nothing else I believe ever has. ~JSV

Wow ! This really takes me back . I heard this on the local oldies station in So Cal , and recorded it on cassette ( and still may have in storage ) . I enjoyed playing this for friends and freaking them out ! We'd laugh every time the DJ would say " and the news was full of it man " ! We even tried calling the phone number on Magical Mystery Tour on getting hung up on ! Great times !

To all you PID Believers, watch the "James Paul McCartney" TV special 1973 (here on RU-vid for everyone to see) at the 20 minutes mark there's a McCartney family get together in a Liverpool pub they're all getting pissed (drunk) calling him Paul singing along with him and showering him with kisses! Now how is that his Dad, aunties, uncles and cousins, can not see it's not their Paul, the one they have grown up with, the one they have always known, but he's in fact an imposter named Billy! This video proves all the PID Believers 100% wrong!

Forget the clues just look at his eye colour it’s so obvious. Shame that the truth can’t be revealed now and allow real Paul to rest in peace in heaven. Can’t be easy for the new Boy either especially as he reaches the age of looking back on his life and it doesn’t make him a bad person. So many questions in the air. Might find Paul was the one with depression after all those years giving his soul. They did not make the money in 66 that could allow them to retire and were fleeced by men in suits and tax.

I remember when PLJ aired this on Paul's birthday in 1979. Thank you for posting this Andrew! I'd been looking for it for years. BTW, there was a radio minidocumentary series called The History of Album Rock, do you happen to have that in your archives? I hope that one turns up.

What’s strange to me is why did everyone make a big deal about a few clues and Paul is dead backwards on a song. Would the news actually cover this story with only that to back it up. So even if he’s still alive that still doesn’t make sense. And then all the people making a deal of it to this day. These are not just kids high on something these are adults from many Back rounds. That in itself doesn’t make sense.
