Love PJK? Let the world know! www.redbubble.com/people/AusQ... Treasurer Paul Keating answers a Tim Fischer question about the government's taxation of gold.
Picking a fight with Keating was just dumb. He was a natural verbal brawler who was meticulous in his preparation. There was scarcely a question he was asked which he hadn’t already prepared for. He owned the floor and cut his opposition down before cutting them up. Glorious to watch
PJK loves his classical music. He would have made a great composer...he knew how to build, with softness and a slow tempo to a powerful and loud crescendo. Masterful.
Thing I love about this is how quick Keating could think on his feet. He was slow to start with his answer and you could see him going through his mental filing cabinet as he was preparing how to answer this. His response got stronger as he went on and just shut it down. Miss those days.
Well you got Julia Rudd same saxophone party and I will become a member of the application process and to ensure that the information you provide is appropriate for the project management team in your organisation or the development of the population at large and low levels of government expenditure and research in relation to the rules of this toilet
PJK chomped on the Opposition's heads every time he spoke to them. A valiant politician he was and one of the few who truly deserved to be addressed as the "Honourable member for...."
@Amplass 333 From 2010-2018 the debt doubled from 20(ish)% of the GDP to 40(ish)% of the GDP. Now Australia is in 1 trillion dollars of debt. In 2007 Australia had debt equal to 9.7%, which is its lowest point in 40 years atleast. When Kevin Rudd reigned(2007-2010) the debt doubled, which in contrast to my first statement is much worse, however he dealt with the GFC well in comparison to other countries. If the coalition were competent or not corrupt they should have wrestled the debt acumulated by the GFC as well as its after effects. Use facts, like me. tradingeconomics.com/australia/government-debt-to-gdp
@Amplass 333 Howard certainly didnt own him with morals or integrity, that's for sure. Although his guns ban was ballsy and something I certainly applauded.
@@552MB We certainly saw the Howard effect rub off on Abbott and Australian politics in general. Not great for democracy, as our tanking in the list of functioning democracies globally sadly shows.
You always knew when Keating was getting to the opposition at the dispatch box when they went into a huddle. Tim Fischer would often start out with self-satisfied confidence and self-righteousness, only to hit a Keating road bump like this one. Totally unprepared for the fact that Keating knows where all the Lib/National Party bodies are buried, he's looking daggers at PJK by the three minute mark, just because PJK calls out the LNP doing its donors' bidding. I never thought Fischer deserved the reputation for decency that he so evidently assigned to himself. Clips like this show that he was probably too stupid to understand to realise how compromised he was.
Modern take.. "who in the coal industry has contact with the government"? Paul Keating was the best, took me a few years to realise but there's a a PM or politician quite like him.
Geez lucky the White House Press Pool never got Paul Keating (he'd have to come by an 'Ol Pejeta Conservancy' Adnan Kashoggi Hawaii IVF birth certificate of course) as the President over there... 'Anyone want to ask Paul Keating a question...?' 'No no. Not us.' Crickets chirping. ...Off we all go home then, headlines to read: Keating - Genius.
Everybody was easy meat for PJK, but guys like Fischer, whose terrible enunciation and th-fronting made him sound like a toddler, must have seemed an even easier target. "Vuh sevvemf of July".
@@kingy002 true, but what i would say is that he lacks the self awareness and knowledge of one's self, and his egotism is a reflection of that. Fine PM in many ways and certainly best orator in parliament then and up 2 now.
Yes, one served in Vietnam and served his country and was a farmer respected by the rural community, the other one owned a pig farm that polluted the district till he sold it 💰 to an Indonesian company, and bought a mansion in Woollahra to socialize with the underdogs !
