Margret Hamilton aka the Wicked Witch of the West, a great actor and also a great human being. Judy Garland said that the only person who really cared about her on the set of the Wizard of Oz was Margret Hamilton!
@@robertbishop5357 Research into the making of the movie, informed by even deeper research done by Oz and Judy Garland historians. Three excellent books I always recommend are "The Making of The Wizard of Oz" (1977) by Aljean Harmetz, "The Wizard of Oz: The Official 50th Anniversary Pictorial History" (1989) by John Fricke, Jay Scarfone, and William Stillman, and "The Road to Oz: The Evolution, Creation, and Legacy of a Motion Picture Masterpiece" (2019) by Scarfone and Stillman.
@@MaskedMan66 well you didn't do your research very well because Judy claims to have gotten slapped by the director of the movie and she made it very clear that they monitored her weight and tried to get her not to eat and overall she was mistreated completely by the producers and people on the side so you're wrong wrong wrong
I don't feel bad for the wicked witch of the West no she's the one you had to come in exactly dorothi'm aint exactly Dorothy just wants to go home and yet she treated her like this she had no control of her own house landing on her is outstanding on Earth I'm cleaning this folder not to give for the shoes if you ask me who waited which deserved everything she got
Man did I love Billie Hayes.....she also did a one shot appearance on Bewitched. RU-vid also has footage of her dancing in what I believe is the mid 50s. She could really dance well.
This show came on and I was just shy of my 12th birthday. I will never forget how much of an impact it had on me. All these incredible and talented actors and actresses in one show and KISS as a bonus. It didn't get better than this what memories of yesteryear!!
I had turned 12 the previous month! Loved this special. And although I seen KISS previously on the Mike Douglas Show and the Midnight Special, it was their appearance on this special that solidified me as as lifelong diehard fan of theirs.😎 Much to the dismay of my parents.
I just watched the entire 51 minutes on Amazon Prime. it was like a car crash I couldn't stop watching it... it was horrible and wonderful. I was 13 in 1976. so I'm sure I saw this when it originally aired!!!
This is hilarious! So many great comedians in one room 😁 R.I.P. Billie "Witchiepoo" Hayes, who died April 29, 2021 For Margaret Hamilton fans, she does a nod to her Wicked Witch role at the end of the 1960 version of "13 Ghosts"
This was awesome! What a great ensemble-whoever cast this was a genius. RIP Billy, Billie, Paul and Margaret-you were all so talented and will always be in our hearts💐 Betty, girl, keep on going cuz we 💗 u.
I am a big fan of Paul Lynde and loved his show and the other shows he was on too ! He made my depression much better ! He made me laugh still laugh and now he died in 1982 sad to say !
Ha me too! Same age!! 13 when this originally aired. The amount of Bazaar cast members in this is crazy. And KISS?!?! Oh wait this is just a clip. you've got to find the entire 51 minutes on Amazon Prime
I just realized this is just a short clip. the entire episode is on Amazon Prime!! A Must see! KISS is the musical guest!!! and Florence Henderson literally makes out with Paul. Also featuring Tim Conway, Roz "Pinky Tuscadero", Betty White, also featuring Donny and Marie and a bunch of dancers. holy crap this was a freak Show of awesome proportions.
else., what an honor to see all four great actors. Billie hayes just passed at 96 years old in 2021. Margaret Hamilton and paul lynn are gone and betty white still living at 99. Rest in peace Billie, Margaret and paul.
wpl I met Mr Barty and asked him about the Wizard of Oz. He said he wasn't in it because he was too young. He had some great stories about the movie "Willow" though.
I just had to look it up cuz I was curious. Correct Billy Barty was NOT in The Wizard of Oz.. he was only 15 in 1939 and MGM required that all actors be 18 so they could keep them longer hours..
Loved Billie Hayes aka Witchiepoo, she was marvelous ❤. Margaret Hamilton aka Wicked Witch of the West, brilliant in Wizard of Oz. Have them both on the same show ,very clever 👏 👌 👍 😀 😄 🧙♀️🧙♀️ They were the best.
I missed this in 1976. . . The skit was hilarious; particularly Margaret Hamilton's spoof of the wicked witch of the west. How all of them stayed in character is beyond me.
I was 10 yrs old in the 4th grade when I saw this special. I didn't know at the time I saw it the first time that this would be a classic. One of my favorite classics from yester year. Brings back memories, great memories.
I GREW UP WITH WITCHYPOO AND HR PUFNSTUFF AS A KID IT BRAKES MY HEART TO FIND OUT WITCHYPO BILLY HAYES ID DEAD AS A KID WHEN WITCHES WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SCARY WOTCHYPOO BILL HAYES WAS FUN I LOVED HER LAUGH AND WANTED TO BE ALIKE HER
I was born in 1978. I first saw a rerun of this in 1983! I love it! It has actress Margaret Hamilton who portrayed The Wicked Witch of the West from my favorite movie of all time the beloved, excellent, fantastic, magnificent and wonderful MGM classic 1939 fantasy musical movie The Wizard of Oz! It also has the very pretty and versatile actress Billie Hayes who portrayed Witchepoo in the classic Sid and Marty Krofft 1969 television show H.R. Pufnstuf and the genie in the classic 1971 Sid and Marty Krofft television show Lidsville. It also has the beloved, beautiful and wonderful actress Betty White and of course the very funny and handsome actor Paul Lynde. Thank you for posting and sharing this!
