Another winner Tone! Glad I picked up these upon release especially given what they are going for now. I didn’t start out buying the deluxe versions but I gave in when Wings Over America came out in 2013 and then decided to go back and get the previous ones from 2010, 2011 and 2012 and got all the remaining ones upon their release. I try not to look at these from a monetary standpoint but it is quite amazing seeing the rise in value for some of these…..they mean more to me from an emotional perspective. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Hi Tone & brilliant video as always & wow the early 70s box going for 4 grand !! I always expected that one to increase in price but wow nowhere near as much as that.... I'm now looking at my own copy with new respect lol !! Even some of the others with lets face it a poor show of bonus material have hiked up in price!! I agree with one of the other comments about the massive Flaming Pie box probably stopping more being released before now as it's rumoured there are 1000s of it left unsold!! Surely if so you would think they would cut their losses & reduce the £600+ asking price by half ? Thanks for the list.

Thanks for doing the research for this very interesting & informative video!! I have long kicked myself for not buying the Big Barn Box when it was released (my daughter had just been born and I just couldn't allocate the funds toward such a purchase at the time), but seeing what the current going rate is now REALLY makes me feel more than a tinge of regret!

You know in the Got Back tour book they said the archive series would continue but they left out when that would be 😞 . Let us not give up, Paul might surprise us and give us another triple box. Thanks for doing the update on this. It’s nice to have all the info. I was a little late to the game with the Paul archives. I don’t know why but when they started I wasn’t interested. But later on I decide I wanted them and the prices were going up so I figured I better hop on it and luckily was able to get most of them for not too outrageous a price. I did start buying day of release starting with the Wildlife and RRS releases. I’m only missing McCartney and WOA. And since the Mccartney archive really didn’t have a lot of bonus stuff I’ll probably never get that one unless there’s a major price drop. Even though I’ve bought plenty of used cds in my day, when it comes to box sets I like them new and sealed even though a used price might be tempting. Anyway thanks again. Cheers.

Hi Tone, When I bought the Band on the Run Archive collection all those years ago, I didn't think Paul/MPL would abandon us mid stream.Three years is a long time without a release in this series. Maybe they're waiting for a gap in the market With so many Beatles related releases expected from the Beatles camp. A nice double set of London Town & Back To The Egg would do nicely.

Hi Tone, its always about the music for me and I appreciate fans like the books and stickers etc . I'm of the opinion that the McCartney camp are a bit tight with the unreleased music on these archive sets and it some times takes a while to discover wether you have bought a decent set or you have had the wool pulled over your eyes. I jumped on the Egypt Station suitcase because it had extra music ( I didn't particularly want all the toys and trinkets !) Low and behold within a week the explorers edition was released which contained the same music ! Looking at the 2 cd disc sets of pipes of peace,Tug of War and Flowers in the dirt I think you get better value for money. Would be Interested to hear other opinions on this ....great channel as always...never miss an episode

Hi Tone, I am a subscriber but this I think is my first comment on your channel. I was wondering whether or not you could find some sort of tool to calculate inflation-adjusted starting prices for these. The % increase over 3 years (FP) rather than 13 years (BOTR) makes these comparisons somewhat misleading. And then possibly create an excel sheet to somehow share?

Hi Tone, As you know I am nowhere near as big as a solo McCartney fan as you, but when you started reviewing the box sets, my competitiveness kicked in as a Beatles fan and I purchased all of them in a space of a few months. I did manage to get some great deals on some but not so much others. The thing I don’t understand is why some sets that have next to nothing extras compared to other sets cost more money? Is it because they are older sets, or they manufactured fewer copies, or they availability of the sets are more depleted? So far I played all the sets up to the last disc of Flaming Pie. I loved the extras in some of the sets even if I was not always as keen on the music. I don’t regret buying any of them except maybe McCartney II, which I really couldn’t get into at all. I guess it was somewhat of an experimental album for Paul, but it was a big departure from his regular style of music, and a bit too far of a strength for me. To be honest I think I’d rather listen to Two Virgins or Electronic Sounds, then play that album again (sorry).😞 I will definitely buy London Town and Back to the Egg if they ever release them as box sets, just to complete the 70’s collection. As you know by now, although I’m the same age as you, I find it hard to get into any music past 1979. However, knowing what a great sales guy you are, if they were to release a later album set and you reviewed it, I would probably buy it.😁 On another subject, not sure if you like the Who, but I’ve put my order in for the Who’s Next Box. Not cheap at over $224 on Amazon, but it’s a whopping 10xCD set.

Great video as always Tone & like your good self & every other Beatles/Macca fans I'm massively disappointed there has been no sign of any archive box sets for 3 years & in my personal opinion the disastrous Flaming Pie mega deluxe box set at well over £500 (at the time!) has made the compilers of these think twice about releasing more even in just the standard boxes..... I don't believe it should have been released when it was before London Town & Back To The Egg & even Press To Play & although I'm still hopeful of them hitting the shelves one day I'm not holding my breath! It's been a disappointing year for Beatles releases & the rumoured Red & Blue album re re re release I'm not hugely sold on & if I can buy a physical copy of Now & Then on It's own or part of an EP I'm not forking out upwards of £100 for them again even with an extra disc! Roll on 2024 for better news hopefully.

Hello Tone, interesting video, although I am not planning to sell my boxes. I also have all of them. Started to collect quite late, it was in 2019. I paid approx 200 pounds each for the McCartney 1 and 2 boxes. And it was used records from a seller in China. It took 4 months before they arrived. But it was worth it. The McCartney singles box I have seen some are trying to for around 10.000 Euros. But that one is possible to get at around 1500 pounds, I am happy I also got that one.

Great Video as always Tone , but I’m not into the Cd’s & book box sets , I like the vinyl box sets when they come , only a big collector would pay extortionate prices including over £ 3’000 , that’s definitely not me , but I would pay 1500, for David Bowie five years box set ( 1969 - 1973 ) .I hope they have not brought the archive collection to an abrupt end , when there’s so many possible archive releases that could happen including London Town / back to the Egg, press to play , off the Ground & many more . Anyway keep up the great work , look forward to the next video .

Hi Tone Really interesting video. Its interesting that the Macca box set have increased so much. How about a similar look at the Beatles boxes, the John boxes and ATMP by George. The Beatles one seem to have dropped in value. For example the Let it Be box. I got the vinyl when it came out, the CD version was about £109 to the best of my memory. I Managed to get a new copy on Amazon this week for £38.70. I also got a CD copy of the ATMP box for £53 this year and I am sure it was over £100 on release. I also got the Imagine box last year for £50. I wonder why the Paul boxes have risen so much, maybe they published a lot more of the Beatles and have been let with a backlog. By the Way I enjoyed your livestream on Sunday. The late time isn't a problem for me if I am not working the next day. I am not Doctor Frog, but Staff Nurse Frog. Sorry the prices are crazy for most and i found alot of them much cheaper if needed- Glad i got them at normal prices- but you say the amount of bonus content is shockingly bad when I compare it to the Dylan Bootleg series!

Hi Tony, I found this video informative and helpful as someone who missed out on all the Archive releases, only picking up Red Rose Speedway at a record fair for a decent price for used-like-new, and deciding that I want some more. I came across a seller on eBay selling loads of the Archive Collections sealed and an average of £150-£200. I managed to get a deal of RAM, Tug Of War and McCartney 2 all for £455.95. They are supposedly arriving tomorrow, so I will see if they are still sealed. I have faith in the seller as he said he bought them when they came out and have sat sealed ever since, the store has %98 positive reviews and has been going since 2014. Do you reckon this is too good to be true and if so, how easy do you reckon it would be to counterfeit these sets?

They only go up it seems. Still missing my five. McCartney, Band on the Run, Venus and Mars, Wings at the Speed of Sound and Wings Over America. I’d really like to complete it, but think it will take winning the lottery to do so now.

Sheesh Tone, glad I’m not buying any of these today, those prices are insane. £4000 is nearly $8000 Aussie!! That makes the McCartney singles box seem an absolute bargain by comparison. Im almost tempted to go out and invest in the Egypt Station Travellers Edition now 😂 It never occurred to me buying Band on the Run in 2010, that 13 years later we would still be waiting for this series to be completed - or more precisely, wondering if the series WILL be completed. While im still hopeful for LT/BTTE, the longer it drags out, the less likely it seems that we will get Press or Off the Ground, don’t you reckon? Personally I hope we do get both of these, along with Unplugged, as they collectively (and with Flowers) were very much the soundtrack to an important period in my life. But I think it’s safe to assume we will now see a Band on the Run 50th anniversary half speed before anything else from the archive series. Maybe they are holding the archive release to 2024 when there isn’t an anniversary release due?? Anyway, thanks for all the effort that went into producing this video. I look forward to the next update in 12 months 😜 Oh and commiserations on the Lionesses mate. Great achievement to make the final, but unfortunately on this occasion there was a Spaniard in the works. 🙈

Hi Tone, Isn't retirement great 😁👍 I got all the box sets on release. I don't think anyone is going to pay the dollars that yank wants for the Big Barn box set. I have seen postage from the US over $100au for one CD to AU. Maybe they didn't want us to buy. I have also given up on buying stuff from Japan. Inflated prices for an Obi (advert) strip. The postage is almost a plane ticket price. I just saw a Lego Yellow Submarine for $557au. There is nothing different about the Japanese version. The postage was cheap though, $14.50au. How come the other postage is so expensive. I will go to Japan and buy at a reasonable price. The airfare/holiday is the postage.

Fascinating and horrifying stuff Tone! Market forces eh? As someone who restricts his purchases to vinyl (I only get the box with the books, inserts etc. if that's the only way to get the discs) I think we need to bear in mind that 'your' prices are for the CD versions, commonly perceived as a lower value format. Also, for once we can't blame the marketing drones at MPL for the eye-watering inflation rates. I suppose the big question is 'what does this tell us?'. Paul's stock has certainly increased in recent times and maybe new, younger audiences are searching his stuff out. Claims of opportunism against the sellers are moot I think - it'll sell for what it'll sell for and they're looking to maximise profits on rarity values. Does it make me want to dash out and secure my own copies before they're all gone? No - my experience with bonus material is almost always that I play it once out of interest and a second and final time in case I missed something on first play. There's usually a reason it wasn't included on the original release. I need to be clear that this is just me and I fully understand the appeal and pleasure of these boxes to completists and more ardent fans than I am; all power to their elbows. Now, in a complete gear change - have you heard the just released Dolly Parton version of 'Let it Be'? I fully expected to dislike it intensely, in spite of my unironic admiration for Ms Parton's talent, but guess what? It's actually rather well done (if a tad overlong) and Paul's participation on vocals tends to indicate his endorsement of it too, as well as their vocals working surprisingly well together. I strongly suspect it's a Marmite one though.

At this point, I’d settle for 2cd releases of London Town, BTTE, Press to Play and Broadstreet. I just want good remastering of the original albums and the great outtakes like Cage, Waterspout, Same Time Next Year, Yvonne, etc. a cd/dvd of the 1979 Tour would be good too.

Never went down the cd box set rabbit hole but it got me to thinking why the archive series seems to have stalled. I wonder if its because when they started cd was the way to do it but now people want vinyl so further cd box sets may not sell and of course you cant just start doing vinyl ones without re doing the older ones.

Quick question. I own most of the Paul McCartney Archives with the exception of the Russian album aka CHOBA B CCCP which is only a live album and came with zero bonus tracks. Do you know why? I also didn’t buy another reissue of Paul’s Live album Wings over America because it was remastered in 2013. Any clarification on this? Why wasn’t it properly reissued and why was Wings over America re released again too?
