Musically it's one of his most beautiful songs, but when you combine it with the fact that in a way he's saying goodbye to Linda, but in a sweet way, and assuring her he'll love her forever, it's probably the most poignant song he ever did.
Sort of although he actually wrote it in the early 90s when Linda was perfectly healthy but after her death and the fact he recorded when she was gravely ill it’s very poignant

Yep... I believe here he knew and couldn't look at her...she never really knew..when he got knighted..she was so sick..she could not attend. Dr and Paul decided not to tell her..so sad💔

She was a very, very bright woman, but she always struck me as a woman who lived her life exactly as she wanted to live it and wouldn't have wanted a lot of wringing of hands and sadness. She lived her final days doing things she loved the most with people, especially Paul, who she loved most. I doubt she ever gave up hope, but she was a realist.

That video is Beautiful and sad, Paul and Linda kissing knowing her time on Earth wasn't long. "I will love you for the rest of my life". Reminds me of my girlfriend who died of a blood clot at the age of 40.
This is a most intimate and beautiful portrrait of Paul. You can feel the sorrow and hear the devotion in his voice. Paul is a wonder of our lives, and their love was something special. We were blessed with them.
I was ecstatic when I found this gem for the first time. Paul singing this for Linda is just the sweetest - I can't help but tear up a little, honestly. It's such a simple and honest love song and they were beautiful together.

The lyrics are very simple (in a good way), but the music and the context of its release, Linda's losing battle with cancer makes it incredibly poignant.

Yes this video is heart wrenching as it it obvious Linda is very sick. She loved him enough to participate in this her last video. Nancy & Linda knew one another so Nancy had seen them together & spend time with them. She knew what he wanted & needed. Linda sent her to him.
When watching the making of Flaming Pie, this made me rather emotional. To see Paul singing a song so endearing to a women he deeply loved, starting to grow old with her, only for her to still be taken too soon; it resonates so much more in retrospect. The whole scene with the campfire is very comforting but still carries such melancholic weight with Linda’s passing.
When they kissed,... OMG I was bawling like a baby:') they had to be the most loving celebrity couple I've ever seen especially being together married for 30 years they were so beautiful he must of had a bad breakdown marrying that cruel heartless Heather mills at luckly he married someone like Nacy hopefully she will keep him and treat him like the honorable person he is and deserves even though sadly she still won't be Linda but hopefully will love him like she did:)

And if you play guitar at all (even badly like me lol) you know how fucking good that is. Amazing.
He kind of got stuck with playing the bass early on (because he's damn good at it), so it's often missed that he's also a really solid guitar player, along with being a great live performer.
Paul`s acoustic guitar playing is highly underrated. From Michelle Mother Natures Son ,the unreleased-Goodbye, Junk, Bluebird ,Great Day .this song ect..He developed a style on the acoustic that is totally Paul.
This has to be a tough song to sing for him and think of when it reminds him so deeply of Linda. They where so uniquely close, twice as close as him and Nancey, and though he loves her too, there was just something so different about him and Linda. This is such a sweethearted and pure song it reminds me of how sweet he was to her. What a beautiful song.
I love this song. He was always my favorite. He seemed to be the most romantic one.. I am so glad that him & Linda loved each other & they had a good strong marriage., & raised 4 kids with good hearts.. I like to think he wrote that song for her. After 40 years of marriage my spouse passed away 7 years ago so I understand his loss. A part of him died with her & she took that part with her. What he is 78 now, I wish him a long life. One day they will be together again & be so very young.

This is such an underrated love song. I cry every time I hear it.. You can see and hear the raw emotion in Paul"s voice. The love he has for Linda is an amazing thing. I think of my own sweetheart and feel blessed to love and be loved.
Definitely one of his greatest post-Beatles and classic-solo-years efforts. Written in 1992 but poignantly appropriate when released during Linda's battle with cancer.
This song is simply stunning. I recall first listening to it on headphones in 1994 while lying on a futon. The melody is quintessential McCartney. The lyric is so sad especially considering Linda’s state at the time. Long live love!

I love this song. I also loved this video. Seeing Paul McCartney doing something out of what we would call normal for a celebrity. Is, so cool. He, and Linda ❤️ will stand the test of time. I know she’s passed away, but it shows us all that true live does exist. Also, that it is rare, and takes a lot of work, and in the end your ❤️ has to be the enduring force that outweighs the 💩 that life throws at us.
