I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t recognize Jeff, even after I knew it was him… then I realized that he isn’t wearing his glasses in this scene! I honestly think that does more to alter his appearance than the wig and makeup 😅😂 RIP LEGEND
This has to be the best version of Silly Love Songs. As a hard-core Toto fan, I enjoy seeing Jeff Porcaro (R.I.P) and Steve Lukather on this. The bass player is awesome as well. I love the horns on this too.
Jeffrey Daniel-what a fantastic dancer he is. He taught Michael Jackson the moonwalk & did the "lean" in this song (3:41) before MJ did it in "Smooth Criminal". With Toto as the backing band, McCartney really surrounded himself with class. This movie may not have been good but the songs were done brilliantly.
I had no idea who this guy was until now and nearly lost my mind when I saw him do the Smooth Criminal lean at least a couple of years before Michael Jackson did it. So he taught him those dances. Makes so much sense!
@@jsfbr I HAVE watched films with less plot! We watch to see McCartney!!! Probably should have made it a DVD or TV special instead. the reviews might have been better!
The base guitar player is Louis Johnson of The Brothers Johnson. He had played most of the bass on off the wall album and Billy Jean. From Thriler album. Paul met Louis for the recording session of a song called " girl is mine" for Michael Jackson's off the wall album(collaboration of Michael and Paul) recording session in 1979. Paul loved Louis's base and called Louis himself to asked him to be in this movie. Louis said he thought his brother was playing a joke on him when Paul called him and hang up the phone. Paul flew him to England where he was filming.
This is amazing! McCartney did an album with the members of Toto, and it was ridiculed. They did one with Michael Jackson, and it was a massive hit for decades. I think it’s a real ‘80s gem. RIP Linda…
I used to play this song, when I use my Peavy Bass. It was during my college days when I saw the Broadstreet, I love the bass punk hitting the string as hard to get the desired sound. The bass player use to move his thumb somewhere along the tip of the fret to the bridge, mine is that I used to tap the octave note as I move along the left finger to get the right note.. Sounds Cool... Yeah Kudos to Bass Players.....Try It..
This is a great version of the song of Wings - Silly Love Songs of the album Wings at spend of sound (1976) and this version is of Paul Mc Cartney of the great soundrack album Give my regards to broad Street, this version included three of best sessions musicals Steve Lukather (guitar) Jeff Porcaro (drums) of Toto and Louis Johnson (bass guitar) of The Brothers Johnson.
Why this version sounds so cool? The guitar player is Steve Lukather! (Toto) The drummer in this song is the great Jeff Porcaro!!! (Toto) The bass guitar player is "The Thunder-Thumbs" Louis Johnson!!! (The bassist of songs "Billy Jean".
Actually the bass player appears to be Mike Porcaro (Jeff's brother and one time fellow member of Toto) who incidentally passed away in 2015. Louis Johnson is African American and plays "slap bass". This clearly isn't him. Watch videos of both men and compare. Thanks :)
@@Logan13az I'm a 26 yo musician and really like Brothers Johnson and Louis bass playing. I've heard and seen enough music/videos of Louis playing to know that's him. How could you say "this clearly isn't him". You even said he played "slap bass" (FYI it's only a technique he just plays the bass) but did you listen this music ? Look at 4:31 this is pure Louis slapping. He is also listed on the OST on Discogs. If it's not Louis i'm the reborn King Of Pop.
The true father of slap bass: LOUIS JOHNSON R.I.P. (bassist of MJ albums 'of the wall' & 'thriller', Quincy Jones and many many other Legends).... *Jefrey from Shalamar!!!!!
Wonder how many people who saw this at the time thought the guy dancing was a Michael Jackson wanna-be when ironically, Jeffrey Daniels was an inspiration to Jackson
i am absolutely in love with the makeup and costume design for this sequence. its so otherwordly and alien and so cool. i really would love to know whether paul came up with it himself or if it was someone else's idea. either way, love it and this rendition of the song
very glad to see this video. I didn't think anybody else knew about it because I've never heard anyone talk about this movie. I have it on an old VHS tape. lol. I'm scared to wear it out. Paul Linda and Ringo among others did some very impressive moments of music.
Adore the film (Give my regards to broad street) Love all the songs and yes the Guitarist far right is very hot! Major crush on him at the age 13!! many years ago. I'm 40 now and it was amazing to see it again on You tube, thank you Dan! To buy the DVD is almost impossible in Britain! Why??? Love Love the song and vid.XXXX
@3:30. A very, very rare video of Steve Lukather playing (miming?) his 1983 1st edition Ibanez Roadstar RS1010SL Steve Lukather Signature Series guitar.
I don't think the air kiss was from Linda, Dan, but more of an acknowledgement to the dancer. Also, I noticed that in live concert, Paul plays bass on this one, but I guess he couldn't cut that solo as well, so he used a hired hand; Ya' know? But since he prob wrote this one on piano he put himself on there. Also, I don't think that they changed the key, but they seemingly sped this version up a notch, too, as I see it.
