I will never understand, why so many, (even Macca fans), crap on this track. 'Silly Loves Songs'...is absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful melody, with a kick ass bass line. Brings back so many memories of my childhood. It can make the coldest heart melt...and smile. I love it. And not ashamed to admit it.
It always reminds me of the first time I heard this song. I was having a dream about my kindergarten class or something like that and this song was playing. My mom was listening to it and it was coming through my dream. I was about 5 or 6
As a kid, I used to think my mom just liked uncool music. She loved "Blondie, The eagles" the list goes on & on from the 60s,70s & early 80's. I lost her quite a few months ago (cancer). And now this is the only kind of music I listen to everywhere. Just makes me feel like she still around. She did have good taste after all. Now my kids think Im old.
Jeff Porcaro and dreamy Steve Lukather!!! So freaking cool. Jeff looks so bad ass on the drumbs in this, and the great Steve Lukather, the dreamest bad ass ever!
In my opinion ! This is Paul McCartney's BEST BAND ! The Creme De Le Creme of musicians! Musicianship at it's ' FINEST ' Louis 'Thunder Thumbs 'Johnson on Bass, from the group TOTO Steve Lukather on Guitar and Jeff Porcaro on Drums , and last but not least Jerry Hey and The SeaWind Horns!!! These are the FUNKIEST CATS to ever do it ! This groove is TIGHT straight up ' In The Pocket '
Ah! The Seawind Horns are on this. So Paul really did use a lot of Thriller (album) musicians here. And Michael's pal Jeffrey Daniel doing the moonwalk/backslide/whatever. I wonder if that's why Michael did Moonwalker, bought Paul's old rental property (Neverland), and bought the Beatles catalog. 🤣
Louis is a legend. Toto's Steve Lukather (guitar) and Jeff Porcaro (drums) give great performances too and the guitar/bass interplay between Lukather and Louis is reminiscent of Toto's Hold the Line. Paul met them while working with Michael Jackson.
I love this alternative version from the movie. The great guitar solo, the dancer, costumes, and lets not forget the bass player here (who isn't Paul) is amazing!
@@BassmanII Louis Johnson. To me he is The bass sound of Michael Jackson. Check out George Duke Band live from 1983, he playes some killer bass ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xHtm_1xN2FA.html
Luke, Jeff, and Louis Johnson all worked with Paul on the Michael Jackson duet "The Girl is Mine" on Thriller. That's where they met and Paul liked their work so there you go.
In a previous relationship my ex's son thought his ticket out of staying in his room and playing video games was to learn to play the bass in a band. I asked him why the bass? He said it was the least important instrument I the band and he could hide behind it. I played him this video. He thought better of his decision. lol
It's amazing to think that Paul, although not behind every instrument, actually was the influence behind every note on every instrument. He is a one man band. Such a bad ass 😎
@@summerboy1976 this is good but I will forever hold in my heart 1974 when I went to see Wings at the Spectrum in Philly with Linda on keyboard. It was magical. McCartney is tops and really a regular who liked making music and could sing. He took it to the limits. God bless him.
Richard Watkins it’s definitely Louis Johnson on Bass. I’m familiar with him and recognize him here in the video. Also know the Porcaro bros. Also, check out the credits - www.discogs.com/Paul-McCartney-Give-My-Regards-To-Broad-Street/release/2461126
Paul doesn’t play funk bass. It has nothing to do with Paul being able to play and sing. Paul wanted an update so Lous Johnson played his style of bass on the recording.
This "Capuchin Monkeys" Version is the BEST! Seriously, though I LOVE this! My all-time favorite guitarist and drummer, Mecca, killer bassist Louis Jordan and an amazing dancer! What more could you ask for?! My favorite part is after Luke's patented perfect solo his a flawless transition 3:35 -3:40!
Louis Johnson but yeah. The dancer is Jeffrey Daniel who taught Michael Jackson the moonwalk/backslide. Kind of makes you wonder about the competitiveness between Paul and MJ.
You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs I look around me and I see it isn't so Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs And what's wrong with that I'd like to know 'Cause here I go again I love you, I love you I love you, I love you I can't explain the feeling's plain to me, can't you see Ah, she gave me more, she gave it all to me now can't you see What's wrong with that I need to know 'Cause here I go again I love you, I love you Love doesn't come in a minute Sometimes it doesn't come at all I only know that when I'm in it It isn't silly, love isn't silly, love isn't silly at all (Guitar Solo) How can I tell you about my loved one How can I tell you about my loved one How can I tell you about my loved one How can I tell you about my loved one I love you, I love you I love you (I can't explain the feeling's plain to me, say can't you see) I love you (Ah, he gave me all, he gave it all to me to me, say can't you see) I love you (I can't explain the feeling's plain to me, say can't you see) I love you (Ah, he gave me all, he gave it all to me to me, say can't you see) I love you (I can't explain the feeling's plain to me, say can't you see) I love you (Ah, he gave me all, he gave it all to me to me, say can't you see) You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs I look around me and I see it isn't so, oh no Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs What's wrong with that?
Paul was always the experimenter. It's weird, but if you think about it so was things like Sgt. Pepper. Lennon liked to play act too, but I can't see him putting on a white New Wave wig. lol...
this is paul mccartney during his mid-life crisis. around the time "pipes of peace" was being made and before "flowers in the dirt", those were dark times for macca. john had died, denny laine had dissed him to the press, and he wasn't sure what to do after "tug of war". he wanted to be taken seriously yet he didn't need to.
I hereby declare that: "Louis Johnson"has won this clip!! Jeffrey Daniel for the silver Macca scraped in for the bronze!!! (Now read it in "Diamond"Joe Quimby's voice!!)
This great video includes perhaps the only footage of the great Steve Lukather playing his estranged Signature Series Ibanez Roadstar RS1010SL model guitar. Whether that guitar is actually used on the recording of the song itself is something only Lukather himself would know. But it's great to see him playing it on the video even though his connection with it ended up being soured.
