I have listened to McCartney albums my whole life but this album is so well put together. The production is incredible. Everything from the background voices to the strings. Good stuff.

I was given this LP for my 16th birthday. Now a must-have in my CD collection. Looking forward to picking up the remaster someday.

I remember, as a little boy, I use to listen to this album in the car as my dad took me on a Sunday drive. It's nice to reminisce on those times.

Best Paul McCartney´s record as a solist

Hard to pick up favourites. This album is a masterpiece.First after John Lennon's death. Here Today is just amazing. But I feel the whole piece is dedicated to him. I just feel it. Lots of Brazilian sounds in it...Maybe it was dedicated also to me and I didn't know! LOL Thank you, Paul!

This was a time in my life, when it seemed that I would be considered the most selfish person on earth,if I were to want more,gainfully employed,and more importantly ,married to a woman,who made our home a heaven. Sir Paul Mccartney's music,plus many other artist were part of that heaven. My Angel returned home August 29,1989.I love,and miss her still.

In the early 80's the reggae was in fashion and the 2nd track, Take it away, in the beggining sounds like reggae. Also the John Lennon Milk and Honey album got many influence from reggae..

One of Paul's best. This album was recorded right after John Lennon's death and all of it is his dealing with the death. The title track is about he and John's latter "tug of war in the last couple of years in the Beatles while "Here Today, "Waunderlust" and the link "Be What You See" all deal with the lose of John. Even the album art shows it. No other band members are shown Only Paul. Including the fold out of the album (shown from 24:00-31:58. Showing Paul sitting writing a song alone pretty much in the dark. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to bring out the greatest art from an artist.

The only cassette I had during AIT in 82' was this one.I loved it then and still do 33 years later.

Love this album (probably with the exception of Ebony and Ivory) and haven't heard it for more than 20 years! In 1982 I was doing a lot of songwriting and recording and was blown away by the production on Tug of War. Tried my best to get similar results but couldn't get anywhere near! Not surprising as it was done in George Martin's Air Studios - just about the dog's wotsits back then!!!

Take it away sounds a bit like Brazilian music. I am Brazilian, by the way. I can even feel the the Rio de Janeiro breeze near de ocean. Or Recife...

Paul's best album in the 80s. Band On The Run was his best in the 70s. IN the 90's Flaming Pie was his best album.

Band On The Run is Paul's best album. Hands down. None of his other albums comes close. For me his second best album is Ram. The rest of his albums have two or three "hits" at the most and the rest of the songs are either not that good or just ok. Many of his songs are below average except for the albums I just mentioned, and Sir Paul knows it. But when you put out as many albums as he has then you're going to have a several good songs to put on "Best Of" albums. I say this as big Paul McCartney fan.

it's amazing this album is so divisive, i'm not sure how i feel about it yet, but my initial reaction is that i like hard rocking ram style much better and i'm also a fan of at least the first half of back to the egg. i've always thought here today was sappy with lame rhymes and i hardly want to mention E&I. he even rocks harder on memory almost full which is also a very good album.
