Paul has SUCH a dry sense of humor. I love it. Half of his jokes in this interview most people probably didn't even catch. Fantastic. He was a great Doctor.

There are petitions on Change.org for the BBC to produce a spin-off series or mini series for Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor. Go sign up if you support the idea.

It's really great how McGann saw and heard and was in the middle of the fangasms over "The Night of the Doctor" and realized that the Eighth Doctor is just as beloved as all the other Doctors. All Doctors have their fans and their detractors, but now the Eighth Doctor is REALLY part of all of that.

Paul Mcgann needs to be part of a multi-doctor story in the new show.
@shaolinwisdom
@shaolinwisdom 10 лет назад
well, I mean full-length for sure, detailed two-parter lol The audios are great for someone who didn't have a real good long chance to shine as his doctor. but he's a great actor to watch like in- Luther, Withnail and I & even in smaller parts like in Queen of the Damned etc.
@mintwithahole

Breath of fesh air to hear McGann talking so positively about the Dr Who role, especially when you listen to Ecclestone refusing point blank to talk about his time as the Dr. It would be nice to see a future special where all the doctors appear together using computer trickery, out cuts from the old series etc.

Eccleston does seem to have changed his mind on it though. They just announced that 9 would be getting more than his fair share of audio big finish productions.

After watching some recent Paul McGann interviews I really wish that we could remove McGann's Doctor Who TV-movie from history and give him a proper 3 or 4 series run as the next Doctor! I'm really sad that his part as the Doctor was so brief, and the story and image he was given back then wasn't that inspiring. If Paul was allowed to put his own look and personality into the part of the Doctor then I'm sure he would be one of the all time greats. Just as he is here, with unkempt hair, beard and knitted sweater, and head-scratching and beard-rubbing mannerisms, he would be perfect.
@Chozal

Yes he would ... But we have the audio adventures, and his voice is a treasure :)

Yea, he's very charismatic in interviews; full of personality and a little bit quirky. It's a massive shame that we couldn't see him in a full fledged series. I don't see why we can't go back to his Doctor, have a couple of series on the adventures of Eight. Then we can always come back to the present and whoever will be Fourteen afterwards.

Defo check out the audio plays featuring Paul, they are really quite amazing. People think I'm strange when I say Paul is one of my favourite Doctors but he may have only had one full length TV adventure but he has been most prolific in terms of audio adventures. Was nice to hear him mention his audio companions in the Night Of The Doctor just before regenerating.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Paul on the phone back in 2002 when I was doing tech support for blueyonder internet and he was having a problem with his connection. As soon as I heard his voice and he gave me his name I knew I was speaking to a legend! Withnail and I, Doctor who, The Hanging Gale etc. I didnt harass him over his fame as we were told not to do that when celebs called in, I just enjoyed our conversation as we went through our fault finding and restored his connection. A really REALLY nice guy!!

If that happened to me I would probably just die on the spot, I mean the man is just an amazing actor and seems like such a nice guy (and I may or may not have just the tiniest crush on him *shifts eyes*). I'm glad you didn't though because hey, talented actors need help too and if you didn't do it he would probably get stuck with someone who didn't speak a word of English.

Many years late, but big finish is awesome. I highly rate it. McGann was my first doctor so to see him get a series of adventures in audio was amazing. Same for Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker who I narrowly missed out on for being born too late. It was a Segway into classic who for me... Then when it revived and Eccleston was in the role I was star struck. I'd seen Eccleston in a fair few big movies and theatre productions and he always struck me as someone who could nail The Doctor. I've remained an audio and TV fan ever since and I have to thank Big Finish and the revival for almost gratifying my choices on a public level.

I'm gonna say this. Paul McGann is a better Doctor than Eccleston. Why? Paul, who was only there for a single movie(He also did a few audiodramas too which are cannon), doesn't think he's above the series like Eccleston. I mean honestly Eccleston almost acts like he's ashamed of being the Doctor. I liked his Doctor well enough, but seriously!! The only thing I know of him being in since is Thor the Dark World. That's it!!

A very good interview and Paul was really engaging. Intelligent and honest,expresses himself very well. For him,what was a few weeks filming back in the 90's,has obviously become a huge thing. I'd have thought he might get irritated with people ignoring all the other great stuff he has done - but apparently not. And he is more than happy to enjoy Dr Who fandom. He is the great 'What if' in Dr Who,and I really hope we will see him sometime acting alongside Peter Capaldi in the series.

And the Minister of Chance got a reference, yes! Oh, I really want to see that short film when it comes out. And I hope it will eventualy lead to a feature length Minister of Chance movie. Someone asked what you think about 50th Ani and will you watch it and reply was something like ''I would have to kill you if I answered'' or some bollocks like that. I wasn't really bitter or annoyed by Chris until now where it's 50th and in his interview I've seen he doesn't care at all about his fans who make him famous. Love his bit on the leather jacket, at least Big Finish gave him one. Also, "They seemed to have gotten prettier," ...where is this coming from, did someone misinform Mr McGann. I mean I can see why one would fancy Tennant, he seems like such a nice guy in all his interviews and he is rather attractive but Paul is certainly the most attractive Doctor in my book. I mean did you see him in the TV movie... DID YOU, RU-vid PUBLIC?!? Did you, guy in the comment section who is going on about RTD and Eccleston having SURPRISE BUTT SEX? And he hasn't aged a bit! I am NOT one of those annoying fangirls who only likes the 'cute' Doctors and will dismiss any Doctor they don't have the hots for. I love them all and Eight is my favourite (well tied with Nine and just ahead of Five, Ten, Seven and Three) first and foremost because of his personality but I am willing to point out who I think is the most attractive Doctor. It is fact and if anyone says otherwise I will get Three to do some Venusian aikido on you asses. You WILL fear Three, he is a badass. Also, his favourite is One? Good. Note to self, if Paul is ever at a con I am going to draw One and Eight together and give it to him. Oh Eight, my precious romantic, fun, awesome yet criminally underrated Doctor. Give Paul more minisodes the Whovian fandom screams at once!
