Jeezus, right out of the gate, BAM! Ripping thru that head of Bebop. What a lineup, what a sound! Funny how it sounds "classic" because of the tune choices and Paul's swing, and "modern" because...well, it was 1993! What a wonderful find. This page continues to make my life more enjoyable. THANK YOU never seems enough, but I mean it. As a side note I FINALLY got to see "Motian in Motion", and i highly recommend it if anyone reading this has not yet.

I love how the time locks in the 3rd chorus and then the fun starts. Steve Swallow plays great melodic lines with great time and that is why he is great-simple. Time is the fundament and it is a collective endeavor.

Wow thanks for posting. So nice to hear how Rosenwinkel sounded 30 years ago when he started playing with the greats...

Saw this group at Ronnie Scott’s in London , Steve Swallow was wearing a rain coat after the gig . I asked if it was the same one he had on on the cover of the Times Square lp by Gary burton? He saidYeah I think it is !
