The PD is more robust and certainly offers better water resistance. The PD's sapphire crystal offers more protection than this acrylic. But, the dial on the Rigas is superior. For example, the red chapter ring indices are metallic and shimmer -- that's a cool detail. I think both bracelets are average, but probably up to the task of years of use. All things considered, I like this more than the PD-1676.

I wish that box top crystal could have been my reality...I still lament not having it. And the thing is, I could order one off of AE, but what if the fitment is different on the case between the box top and double domed variants? Too risky, plus I would also have to buy a crystal press - it's a whole thing. Kinda like when I replied to another fella about maybe buying an automatic movement for this watch and installing it. Of course, I forgot that the auto movement's 3 and 9 sub dials are farther apart as compared to the VK63's sub dials. Ergo, the dial is different between the two, so I would be unable to use the auto movement with the VK63 dial. That explains why the sub dials on the dial of the 7750 Dondang movement encroach the chapter ring. It's to accommodate the wider placement of of those 3 and 9 subs.

Yeah, I wanted to get that too. Unfortunately, here in Turkey, the government imposed a $150 import limit on goods. Consequently, I had to settle for this. But, in truth, there is less to go wrong with the Seiko movement. If the case size permits, I will probably get a mechanical chronograph movement and install it as a project. Between this brand and UN Timepiece, their dimensions are the same for both VK63 and 7750 Dandong movement. At the end of the day, this watch is a bit fragile, it only features 30m of water resistance and the crystal will easily scratch. The bracelet is thin and the whole watch weighs less than half as many grammes as just the bracelet of the Unimatic I am wearing in the vid. For these reasons, I shan't be wearing it all that often. Your purchase decision ought take into consideration how often you will wear it, both in terms of its durability and that of the movement's ability to keep time if it is unworn and not on a winder.

I really wanted the automatic as well, particularly since the sub dials have different functions and are also spaced farther apart than the meca-quartz iteration. Unfortunately the country that I live in does not permit imports greater than $150.

Yeah, I think to truly enjoy it, less is more. The less you wear it the more it maintains a newness. Also, switching to a nato, or other strap preserves the life span of the bracelet, so that it can be saved for that specific occasion that it is preferred.

Well, Rolexes from the 60s were often put on nato straps and to this day. Remember Sean Connery's Bond Rolexes? They were on nato straps. I put this on a red nato that matches the red of the chapter ring and it looks awesome.

I am not certain which other brand of homage you are referring. In the case of this iteration, it is the closest to the original, with the exception that the pushers on this VR are better quality than the original. It has the same dimensions, the same type of bracelet and dimensions, the same bezel insert and crystal material. If you hold this in your hands, it is nothing like the Pagani Design PD-1676 Newman homage that I own. It is similar to the Alpha and nearly identical to the UN Timepieces version. But I believe that watch is made in the same factory as the VR, but with a different branding. My watch does not have the 7750 automatic inside, but I would have gotten that if the government here permitted imports greater than $150. That version has the 9 and 3 o'clock sub dials spaced farther apart to accommodate the location of the sub dial pinions on the automatic movement. I really wish I had the automatic version because the sub dials also feature different functions and layout. Maybe at some point it will be priced right to purchase. In the mean time, I lightly wear this to preserve the crystal, since it is acrylic.

Yes, it's a concession, given the movement within. Some might argue the logic of the 3 o'clock 30-minute sub dial, or the small seconds sub dial at the 9 o'clock on the ref 6241. These do not conform logically, and yet, there they are.
