You can't dislike or hate this man. He is so humble and all he wants is to sing. Congratulations Mr. Potts and keep on living this dream of yours. 👏👏👏👏
I can’t understand why Mr. Potts is being compared to other tenors. Each one has a different tone to their voice which makes them unique. I’m 76 years old and first fell in love with opera as a child when I heard Mario Lanza sing for the first time. It was Paul Potts who made me fall in love with it all over again. God bless you Mr. Potts for that. You have an incredible gift. Always be thankful for it.
You are absolutely right. Unfortunately, it is human nature to always compare, to always find "the supposed best". People don't think about the fact that the uniqueness of the different voices makes this stupid comparison possible at all. How boring and monotonous music would be if all singers had the same voice!
Paul is Paul. And that’s more than enough. So glad he managed to conquer the confidence issues that were holding him back and stood on the BGT stage. Into the breach my friend…
Today I was walking in to Kensington High Street Tube Station and I recognized Paul Potts, had the guts to speak to him and express my admiration for him. This is by far one of the most wonderful human beings I have ever met. I am still taken back by meeting such a genius
Since I discovered this man….I’m trying to find strength:reason to continue this journey of life. At 69 and struggling on all fronts. But Mr. Potts brings me smiles , tears, and reason. God Bless Paul.
We don't need to compare him to anyone else. If you listen to him and his voice makes you happy like it did me, for what ever reason, then that's all that matters. Well done Paul. My wife and I bought your album as soon as it was released after the competition. We still love it after a decade.
That's the real problem with opera fans.. They are used to listen to Pavarotti all the time that they're not get touch by anyone anymore.. They prefer the darker sound with bell canto..
you're both right springview2011 & S A - I can feel more emotions Paul's interpretation that on some "grand" opera singers like Pavarotti , who I believe was a great singer but didn't express the true emotions of the song - I agree with you
It represents the aria in the best way imo, the man facing fearful odds, and declaring to all who will listen that he will not only win, but in this - his greatest challenge, the defining moment of his entire life - he knows will be triumphant. Coming from a phone salesman who belted this out on national television, putting it all on the line, it just sounds *right* .
I can't understand the hate Paul gets. They guy is great. He might not be on P's level but who said he had to!!?! He's on his on level. I'm pretty damn sure, thats all he needs.
goldenthroat86 What you said has validity. I will say this. What genre do you put him in then? Is there some psuedo opera? Has Opera morphed into other forms like other genres? Because if it hasnt, i dont know what else you could market him under!
Raffeal Morris Opera isn't a style of singing or singing an isolated aria or two. Opera is a theatrical production with a full cast, costumes, scenery, makeup, lighting staging, props. There are no microphones or amplification of any kind used in opera. Paul gives concerts of mostly pop music with a couple of opera arias thrown in. He uses a microphone. This is very different from opera.
goldenthroat86 "Paul gives concerts of mostly pop music with a couple of opera arias thrown in" Really?!? Thats......strange to say the least. Good point about what Opera really is. Knowing this, I can comprehend why some Opera enthusiast would be dejected about his dubious moniker as a Opera singer.
***** "Paul gives concerts with mostly opera arias." No, he doesn't. Not every song in Italian is an opera aria. He'll sings 2 arias at the MOST in his concerts. The rest isn't opera or even classical.
A lot of people can sing loud or With Power, But Never have the same beautiful quality to their voice as 'Paul Potts', has. He is truly Unique. the big difference is that he has got a lovely sound. All that Anyone needs is a Warm beach, some Earphones, And listen to him All day, on a Summer holiday.
I still think Paul Potts is the best talent found and his version of this song is fantastic. He has done more for opera than anyone I know bringing it to the common folk like me. I will always get chills when he sings this.
All the positive comments I read here are rights! I am a professional opera singer, I trained a lot, work quite a lot as well, but still learning. This Paul Potts is doing well. As some said, he is not PAV, but there was only one PAV! He does not have to be. He makes something that makes him happy. Congratulations and keep going!
Paul you made me swoon over classical music again. You are the tenor of the 21st century! Keep on enthralling millions all over the world with your voice and your music.
He sang for folks who lost their lives in the Tsunami. Oh, how he sang. With his soul and every note. Thank you Paul Potts for being you. A wonderful you, who bring the full glory of song to us. Thank you.
I read some comments here of people who think they are "experts" in classic opera just because they are opera fans. Is so naive! This humble guy is not Pavarotti or Corelli but he is a good opera singer and he still taking lessons. So why the hate comments? At least he is on a stage singing and you are not. So your ignorant comments are irrelevant.
He's not an opera singer. You need to appear in opera for that and also have some element of stagecraft. Also you must be able to project and aria over an orchestra WITHOUT amplification.
Multitrackjake . Thats true but thats why he still studying opera. You have a point. And is a good opinion but why judging him? If he wasn't good enough he wouldn't be singing opera in this tipe of stage.
Paul Potts habe the swettest voice ever...Thats the reason by wich the experts hate him. They are only eaggerly awaiting for Power, high volume and wildness in the voice. So when they listen this angelical voice, without presumption, without egolatry, and full of peace...they cant listen. they suffer, its like a torment for them...because something inside of them...told them that this is the way to sing...from the very heart.
right. sometimes it's not really all about the technical aspect but it's the soul in someone's voice, it's something hard to explain but you know it when it touches you that's what makes him a great singer.
Multitrackjake You can have all this tecnic and be boring! Like u. Music is made for the Spirit and he have This a lot....and again, stop to bem boring
Fabulous, fantastic rendition. The audience was spellbound, living every second of that Magic Evening. Thank you, Mr. Paul Potts --- I've watched this vídeo dozens of times and your performance is always fresh, anew. .
My wife and I just watched Paul in the town of Malvern…The fella is a genius singing opera/40s&50s ballads..80s pop music…If you get the chance watch him👏👏👏👏
I saw the first public appearance of Paul, and the reaction of the audience, and jury! And, seeing him now, singing all over the world, really makes me happy, because he proved everyone wrong👏👏👏
Two distant cultures separated by lenguaje yet united by music and enormous talent... All’alba vincerò! I hope that wherever Mr. Potts is is doing very well. A special thanks to the channel for sharing this with all of us.
Unlike the rest of the world, Japanese audience stays absolutely silent until the very last note of the music is heard. And then here comes a storm of applause, cheering and standing ovation. I'm sure Paul was relieved and pleasantly surprised when he finally heard it!
Paul Potts has a beautiful voice and he is alive. I am so glad he was discovered and is singing. I love his voice. There is no perfect singer. He sings with his heart. There are people like him who will improve and I am so glad he is willing to take on songs with this difficulty.
Wunderschön gesungen und wunderschön, dass er sich seine Zähne machen lassen konnte - das freut mich für ihn! Beautifully sung and beautiful that he could have his teeth done - I'm happy for him!
I think Pavarotti would have been happy to perform with Potts, not seeing him as competition, but as a fellow singer. I have noticed that opera singers let themselves become stout because of the belief that the sound of their singing resonates better out of more volume.
Are you the custodian of Pavarotti legacy or just a sad fuck? Because I see your comments all over. Sensibly spoken as the great man himself would have told you - Fuck off.
He has a way with intonation and dynamics. He doesn't over power his renditions. I think that is why he translates so well to folks who are not opera commons. He has improved his vibrato and depth during his fortes with time and experience.
No singer of any genre should be compared to another. Each forms notes and lyrics in a way God intended him or her to do. I love Paul Potts. Also love “Freddie”, Elvis, and Garth Brooks.. each has something so special. I love what is special to them.
Wow. Mate we need people like you. All the gems are fading away from us. Everyone who has a soul and understands this world that you're from, will always respect you and appreciate you. Thank you so much for coming out of the crowd for us.❤
Great job Paul. Nice career you made for yourself doing what you love. Feel pity for the non-achieving critics who feel compeled to make themselves feel superior by degrading someone else.
I don't live on these videos like some of the critics, but its obvious they are more or less the same. This is the start, they should see him few years on, thats why I looked in to his videos, his voice is magnificent, obviously been learning well, he has the right tools and now has learnt to use them.
I remember a time Simon Cowell had that little look of doubt I remember a moment we all had a quiet snicker I remember a man who grimaced, but in British fashion he began the journey I remember a time our eyes became moist I remember a moment our hearts soared I remember Paul became a man who found his destiny Oh yes, glorious days for all
Paul Potts proves false the old adage "nice guy finishes last". I can't say I'm a fan of opera, but it's nice knowing a good guy in this rotten world is winning.
Sometimes a NATURAL voice, with a hint of the everyman is so much more appealing, than the perfect. Especially, when the voice is vibrant with the true emotion, which Mr. Paul Potts excels at completely! I LOVE LISTENING TO HIM!!
I'm amazed at how respectful and silent the audience are during the entire performance. Just before performing they all fall silent, and give undivided attention. They maintain their integrity to hold all applause until he has absolutely finished. I hate it when you get UK or American audiences, who cheer and woop through the entire song - completely ruins it for everyone.
Paul's beauty is in the energy he radiates, not the technical delivery of his pitch. Surely this is the essence of humanity, else we are machines, with high skill, and no soul.
Thank you for this rendition of "Nessun Dorma", Mr. Potts. You are showing us all what it means to embrace and accept yourself for who you are meant to become. You made me shed a tear reminding me of that. And for that, I thank you. We all should
Pavarotti was a legend, Bocelli is very good and Paul Potts is an amazing singer who has incredible power & sincerity. Listen to anyone sing opera or classical and then listen to Paul. He is just amazing and we are all beneficiaries of his voice & humility. Listen to his Time To Say Goodbye duet with Kanon and compare his (and hers) voice to any ones. Hats off to Paul !!
Those who compare one beautifully gifted person to another in their snobbery fail to comprehend the uniqueness of each individual. No two people on earth are the same, we are each unique and should be appreciated as such.
Paul Potts brought opera into the lives of non opera lovers and for that he deserves much credit. His voice is soothing, not overbearing like the heavy hitters. I love his version of Nessun Dorma better than anyone's. I never would have listened to it but not for him.
this is absolutely AMAZING. I'm not a so said "expert", but my father was, and he brought me on the path of the opera since I was 9. I've heard any kind of singer, male and female, in the last half century. surely Paul Potts is not the greatest one, but surely he's a big talented artist and a marvelous singer.
Paul, I am so HAPPY for you! I saw your audition for BGT, & I have seen progression & polish & I was thrilled to watch this performance with a Japanese orchestra after the terrible tsunami. God Bless you & your Talent, a Gift you are sharing with the World! Share this with our families & friends, all those who have had the privilege to see & hear this Video! 🙏🫂💐🦘
+Mirokism He does doesn't he? It's as though and old gentle soul radiates from within. His performance in Japan speaks volumes as the japanese are notorious for perfection.
Going to forward this to my son who served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kobe, Osaka, Hiroshima, etc. so many years ago...think he will enjoy this!!! Thank you, Paul!!
he was amazing from the first moment he came forward and stood on the stage of Britain's got talent but he has gotten incomparably better than he was back then. Not only did he realise his dream but he also hasn't stopped moving forward after his dream came true. He never fell into the trap of complacency. He's inspired millions of people who were afraid of chasing dreams and stuck in frustrations. And now he's pushing the back of those who are having trouble improving themselves and pursuing their goals. I really appreciate him mustering up his courage for being on BGT and never giving up his dream in spite of his former life as a mobile phone seller. The world has been going through a lot of catastrophes such as the Covid pandemic and the rising tensions in Ukraine and so on. With these international macro problems, there must be a countless number of people who have their own trouble and difficulties. Paul might not be able to solve all of these problems himself but he can give them some kind of emotional cure and courage and inspiration to help them get back on their feet again.
EXPLENDIDO , QUANDO OUÇO ESTÁ MÚSICA ME LEMBRO DO MEU GRANDE MESTRE FRANCISCO TUSSINI , A FORÇA DE VONTADE DESTE GRANDE HOMEM , ME FAZ EU DESISTIR JAMAIS DOS MEUS SONHOS E PROCURO SEGUIR O LEGADO QUE FOI E SEMPRE SERÁ MEU MESTRE AMIGO PAI E AVÔ FRANCISCO TUSSINI ...
A lovely human being, humble and kind. A class act. I’m elated that Mr Potts is fulfilling hie dream. He looks handsome and confident and is so gracious. And that glorious voice!
Absolutely amazing. I occasionally rewatch the clip of the very first time he sang part of this song and blew the minds of the jury at Britain's got Talent. Gives me goosebumps every time. And I say this as someone who usually listens to Heavy Metal and Rock music, not opera.
@@sananton2821 ok, Pavoratti and Bocelli are better, but Paul Potts isn't professionally trained, it just comes out of his love for the music. I can appreciate that. And it's better than what I can do.
