I have both this set and the 72 PR Haiya set. The PR set you are featuring is more like the Mungyo Gallery set which I also own, they are soft but nowhere near as soft as both the PR Haiya or Sennelier sets, those are truly soft and a joy to work with if you like a very soft oil pastel. I do like the set you are talking about but for my taste much prefer the Haiya set (the 72 set is unavailable right now in America 😭).

These are beautiful 😻 I love the art you made, especially the fruit!! I picked up some neon oil pastels from Poundland that I really need to test out- I tried the neon acrylics and loved them so much I painted some Docs with them 😂

I bought the macaron set by mistake, I wanted this one, the basic one 😋 but the macaron colors are so pretty i'm buying the 48 mungyo set cause I couldn't find this one at the moment, so excited to start painting in this medium

Actually I think it will be the perfect combo, the 48 mungyo set is perfect for basics colors , and they are lovely pastels, I have a video on that set too, they are maybe my favorites, but the macarons set of paul rubens...those colors look amazing!! You are going to have so much fun!!!!! ❤❤

Romy, did you purchase the macaron set? I tried to but we were having problems with Amazon delivery, so I returned it. I might try again. Thank you for the review and the video.

Great work. I have done a fair amount of research on oil pastels. I have to say I heard Paul Rubens has a good lightfastness rating but idk if it's in house or international ratings. I bought a pack of six white Paul Rubens because it has not been possible for me to order titanium white in mungyo artist gallery oil pastels or caran dache atpit. I have tried all cray pas expressionist good artist quality and lightfastness, craypas specialist, brilliant enduring colours, sennelier, mungyo gallery artist extra soft oil pastels and Holbein and Pentel. My favourites are Mungyo. Idk about brands from India or Russia yet. Mungyos are beautiful to work with and very smooth, My favourite by far. They seem to have good lightfastness and I trust the Koreans to make a superior quality product..think Honda. Mungyo claims they art professional artist grade with good pigment. I use cray pay specialist to lay down blocks of colours and rub into 140 lb water colour paper. I like cold press. Then I add a few layers of Mungyo. I use Sennelier on top layers for highlights shading, midtones etc. The cray pas specialist underpainting will give your painting a brilliance and glow or enchanting shadows uf that's what you desire. I don't like the Holbein. I have yet to try caran dache oil pastels. Would love to. No matter what though, I still have to wait a day or a few to add more layers. The Paul Rubens white works pretty good for highlights without disturbing the previously laid colours.

Wow , thanks for this info, I really appreciate it I heard about the lightfastness too, but I am not really sure about it ;D I have the mungyo too and sennelier, and I agree about the mungyo I love to work with them ... I want to try the specialist...but they are not easy to find, also yet to try the caran d'ache pastels, the holbein I was considering but you saved me some money there :DD . The white set of Paul Rubens is a very good idea, actually the white pastel of this set is the one I like the most!

@@Romysartjournal great to get your note. I love your work. I am going to try to follow your demo❣️ My pleasure re Holbein. I like the Paul Rubens. The specialist are really hard and crumb a lot but supposedly they have great light fastness. Plus the colours look brilliant. I rub it out with cloth, qtip or paper towel, and then I lay down softer pastels. I ordered mine from Amazon. I pretty sure blicks art supplies carries craypas specialist. Jerry's arterama carries the mungyo gallery or Amazon. When I can, I might get a set of Paul Rubens too. Since I live in Canada, it's expensive to ship from the states. Jackson's art supply is less but last I checked they were sold out of the individual caran dache. I am so looking forward to ordering a few colours to see how I like them.

@@elizabethandiosa4579 I would love to see it if you do, tag me on instagram if you like!! I live in Italy so blick and artrama are not an option for me maybe jackson but is quite expensive for shipping, I saw them on amazon but the prices are pretty high I'll check on amazon.com sometimes even with taxes is quite cheaper!! when you try the caran d'ache let me know what you think.. I was thinking of getting a few too just for comparing as the sets are not even cheaper... we' ll see for now I'll enjoy these and the mungyo :D ❤

Thank you for the video, I need to replace an old pentel.set and am having difficulties making up my mind between the Mungyp pastels and these. I think I like the colour range in these a bit better as the Mungyo set seems to be lacking in deeper reds. Would love to see you do a comparison between the 2 sets
@Romysartjournal

Thanks for watching! Yes I understand why you would have a difficult time in choosing one of them, I am working on the comparison video, and will try to upload it asap, meanwhile I can tell you about the colors palette, I have checked my color charts for both of them and they seem to be more or less equal on the reds range ( the paul rubens maybe have one more), the Mungyo is a bit lacking in yellows compared to the Paul Rubens, but has a bit more extensive selection of greens. Hope this can help.

I have both and prefer the Mungyo soft oil pastels, they're softer and more opaque. The Paul Rubens set has many similar browns and some of the pastels are like drawing with glue sticks.
