I feel so bad for him....He looks like he's hurting. This is deeper than the socks and underwear. He is clearly no longer the man of the house and he lost his ego. I wish him love and happiness.
His ass is selfish. Im sorry. But thats what Im getting from his vibes and from the issues with the children. When you are married its not all abt you. I do think they need therapy though. They seem to really love each other because they both welling to go to steve for help and now to take therapy. But something has to change. Many men are not happy with not being the breadwinner and sometimes they react poorly. But at point are they justified to put that insecurity on their partner.
I think something traumatic has happened to this man in his life, possibly when he was a child, instead of putting him down, he should go to a therapist, and find out what's wrong, and they been married for 10 years, now as far as the relationship between him and the kids, in some cases the woman don't want the man to say anything to the kids, no matter what the situation is, you have a then 13 year old boy whose now a 23 year old man still living at home huffing and puffing at the man, because he won't talk to him, or do anything for him, and the man comes home from work and give you the money, and you still expect him to be man of the house.
That lady was smart to diagnose his retail therapy as being a symptom of a bigger problem relating to his feeling of self-worth, being a step-parent is rough.
He looks depressed ,maybe because he used to be the breadwinner of the family , it's the male ego ,buying all these things is a not the real problem it just a symptom
That was a major put down of a man. Big, big insult whether she meant it or not. Almost every man wants to be the breadwinner, much like women want to bring life into the world. It's innate to use - don't insult us that deeply.

My thoughts exactly 💯!! This shouldn’t have been addressed on national TV, and certainly not on the Steve show. This literally did more damage to his self esteem, and manhood. Every marriage has issues, but I don’t respect the way she handled this matter.
He would’ve said it. If you’re willing to put it out that you don’t even stay in the same household and agree that you don’t love yourself it’s really not that important to keep it in if she was the problem. He is just buying it to feel better about not supporting the family how he wants. It’s simple really

I, myself have this obsession, but it's like full of drawers of them but not in the extra storage. What's wrong with him being clean. I get the point that a person is stacking up in the storage bucket. Even Steve probably have an obsession of wearing nice suits and it's nothing wrong with that.
I'm also sure that Steve can also AFFORD to buy nice suits and things and he's not giving his wife 1/2 of his paycheck to pay bills either. When your significant other is TELLING YOU that there's "trouble in paradise," you don't just go out and purchase whatever the hell you want and not satisfy the needs of the other people in the house. Those needs can be physically, mentally, emotionally, Spiritually, financially or sexually, but in either case - I'm glad that Steve is helping them get some counseling. There DEFINITELY is an underlying issue that's causing him to do the things he's doing. And she's still with him right now, even as they live in separate homes, so there's still hope. Praying for all parties involved...
Leslie Martin This is why people end up divorced or unhappily married for show, by ignoring the needs and concerns of others in the relationship. Hopefully, the counselling helps but I'm not holding my breath. The therapist can only take you to the river. They can't make you drink the water.
How come the panel just jumped in on him. I'm more concerned why his wife brought him here instead of therapy. This man looks in pain , sad n hurt. So they’ve been together for 10+ years & he’s never formed a relationship with her children? I feel as if she hasn’t put her children first. Those children were minors when they first got together. This is horrible. Seems as if she’s only concerned about keeping this man.
Maybe he's shopping habit is something he does to relieve stress or anger rather than being addicted to something much worse. You remember she said if he stops buying those things, he resorts to drinking. I think he's buying stuff to overcome being addicted to alcohol or something else. And maybe this whole situation may have started from pain from the past about something.

Personally as a woman i feel like she didn't need to mention she z a bread winner.in my culture i grew up seeing men & women work and it doesn't really matter to me who the breadwinner is, as long as no body is lazy.in my family mostly women were the one with high pay jobs and u could hardly know it cus they don't discuss it with others, family business stays in family,we are a very reserved culture and i find it strange how in the western countries people be throwing their business out there as a norm, at first i used to think tv shows are not real, meaning they are acting cus none can dare put their business out there but i realized it's their culture i guess . anyways she shouldn't have said that cus i could see the man's face drop when she said that,please don't bring ur business on tv,sort it out at home.i never heard my parents fight cus if they did it's something they'd do in their bedroom and don't let anyone else know it,cus at somepoint they'd come warn me about what i did wrong and that's why they never want me to see them doing wrong cus they know they would lose my respect and feel like they cannot correct me since i see them doing the same.
This is the wrong place to discuss this issue. There are certain things the man will not say on TV and the panel with those women talking to him like that will make things worse for this relationship.

Once he couldn’t provide he needed to have something he can control...I.E=shopping. It’s just like us ladies when we get new underwear we feel empowered and beautiful I know tons of women who shop to feel voids. The same w him. I think he should either go back to school or find a new job or volunteer. He has to do something that gives him purpose. Now, with that being said. The fact that this mother has had two children and he hasn’t tried to or has built a relationship w them is on HER not him. If a man is just there for me and not my kids then I don’t need him. That doesn’t mean financially...that means contribute something to their lives! So women stop dating men who can give two ****s about your children. Your kids are a package deal! It's not about shopping because is focus is on socks, t-shirts and underwear. He needs to see a therapist there is a deeper trauma here. Maybe it something that stems from his childhood.

I’m a feminist, but even I know men need to feel needed in a tangible way. He’s not in charge, so his role has been diminished. He hands over half of his paycheck to her and she takes charge. Steve is absolutely correct. He needs to give his wife all of it, but he needs to use that to contribute in paying the bills, not just leave it all to her. She needs to hand some responsibilities over to him.
If this man was living alone as a bachelor this underwear T-shity issue would not be an issue.. Also "he needs to feel clean"? Does he not have a washing machine?
That’s your husband but he doesn’t even know your kids that stay with YOU. It’s a difference between knowing of someone and knowing them. It hurts when someone is supposed to be the figure in the home and doesn’t even know you. I would never forget nor want to let it go right now. I know from experience..... get to know those children and stop focusing on those damn clothes !!!!
He doesn't know where he fits in the marriage. She's the breadwinner, in charge of the finances and most likely makes the majority of the decisions in their household which must be very emasculating.
