It would have been a major improvement if Paul had relegated himself into a sound-proof room. Actually, it would have been a major improvement if the song ended after its first 15 seconds.

However, one last note, I too did not like Paul's comment about who's the greatest! That was an insult and I'm sure Johnny, Jay, and Dion did not expect that intro. I'll bet Paul got his ass reamed after that intro..that's where the insult was!!

I think it's fun. I knew Johnny on a personal level and I also work and perform with Jay on the doo wop circuit. I think if Johnny, and Jay, and Dion thought this was an insult, they would not have agreed to perform it. They are having fun and you can see it.

This is truly a wretched performance by Shaffer. I feel bad for the talent that he recruited for this truly awful song. What is even inexplicable is even the instrumental part is terrible. And Schaffer's singing is worse than Don Johnson and Bruce Willis combined. I cant even recall a worse singer than this guy.
I've seen this clip many times. What a waste on great talent. You cant put Rap, N DOO-WOP TOGETHER. I felt sorry for Jay Seigel, DION,and Johnny maestro. What a waste. Schaeffer is a great keyboardist and bandleader, he's proven that over the years, but he is not the best songwriter and he absolutely can't sing (or rap!). It might have almost worked if he had focused on what he is good at, but he pretty much ruined it.
What a waste of Doo Wop talent. Taking some of the best voices ever and putting cRAP into what should have been an entertaining event. Just to hear Johnny, Jay, and Dion together could have been magic. A missed opportunity. So sad.

You obviously don't recognize who these rappers are. Will Smith has already been a huge star for decades not only in the music world but also television and movies. They're ALL great, each in their own way.
People try to hard to be 'cool' and relevant. This is not music but people who shooud no better , i.e. Paul Shaffer, trying hard to legitimize rap . Just when I thought this was going to sound great, Paul hit a switch and it instantly turned into the worst rap music I ever heard. I like rap, but this crappy music that played made me stop the video right before the guys started to rap. I like all the artists, but Paul was the one who ruined it.

It’s a mixture of genres. Paul Schaffer was trying to be diverse. And so much for “already forgotten” when fresh prince and daddy-o have made more money with their music while Johnny maestro has been known to put out mediocre music and can’t get a good rating for the love of him
