Kinilabutan ako maski demo lang LOL. Truly masterful use of vibrato and tremolo. The level of expression is just exceptional. The choice of notes and the movement from segment to segment within the solo tells a story. It's the saddest part of the song actually. Haunting . Very moving. Legendary stuff.

Ang kantang Parting time ang isa sa mga walang kamatayang kanta na nalikha sa buong mundo. Kahilera nito ang mga kantang walang kamatayan din kagaya ng bed of roses, goodbye ng air supply, ever since the world began, i'll be there ng jackson 5, later ng fra lippo lippi, at mga sinauang kantang palagi pa rin pinapatugtog sa radyo isang beses sa isang linggo or higit pa.

Lagi ko kinakanta ang parting time.. At kinanta ko pa yan sa crush ko nung high school ako.. Kala ko forgnr kumanta nito. Pinoy pala.. Proud of u sir.

Sir Paul just for the record, I actually wished that I would have seen you play this live (with Brown Sugar) back in the better days of HK. This song and you were my childhood inspiration for a vocalist/lead guitarist stage persona. I watched you perform on a noontime show when I was still in my elementary days, and that put me into some serious perspective. Years later I figured out I had the right choice (and the taste haha) for singling you out, literally no one lived up to the standard that you've set in our OPM scene, being a top class vocals with top class guitar chops. You were that figure that everyone needed, but didn't deserve (sounds movie-like). Nevertheless, your musical journey is as colorful as it can get, and it will never stop. Thanks to social media you have created another avenue to reconnect with your peers and fans alike. Keep inspiring the newbies, and even us the "older" ones as well. Just like in your solo here, music isn't always all about otherwordly skills and profoundness. Sometimes it all comes down to taste, the choice of notes. Like storytelling, anyone can tell the same story. But not everyone has the power to convince people to believe in that story. While a selected few have that unique ability, so convincing, that will move people enough that they would want to start creating their own stories. The latter, they don't come a dime a dozen. Everytime I hear this solo I still get goosebumps. If a guitar could actually cry this is it. And Ive heard em' all. It starts out with a dive bomb followed by some big and sweet expressive bends that lead into a juicy picked muted arpeggio. This first segment sets the melancholy mood and makes you see images of traveling to a far away place.... while away from some loved one ( Parting Time talaga ). Then it leads to the 2nd segment where the notes seem to descend downwards only to be saved from falling off the cliff by a cool bend with an artificial picked harmonic . The next section then begins to climb up via a short sequence of melodic notes that lead to the climactic Santana-ish 2 string bend . By this time you feel that your heart wants to stop beating ...or wants to stop you from breathing because of the upward tension caused by the notes..... it's like youre choking until Paul gives you the release. That's a classical compositional technique....tension and release towards the climax.. You feel na magpapaalam na yun gitara. It's coming. Yun Parting. And finally a series of melodic high notes resolve the tension. Behold the resolution. And it's like nakahinga kana ulit in relief after you almost felt like aatakihin kana sa puso. What strikes me about this solo is the intention behind every note. Pinagisipan sha ...may compositonal movements ....may thematic use of melodic bends and arpegiios with full expression sa execution ng bawat nota. To this day I'm still amazed at how this solo was written and played. If you ask me what I think is the greatest guitar solo ever played by a Filipino? .....this is it man.

Tiktok brought me here. It says that Paul Sapiera is Ez mil's father. I have always known that the Rockstar band was a Filipino Band since I started idolizing them when I was in highschool during their popularity. My cousins and I used to jam and tried to imitate their songs like "Mahal Pa Rin Kita & Parting Time". In the 90s there were many songs that you would have thought were a foreign songs.

I remember the song, nakakabuset na paulit ulit sa radyo d man lang makaramdam na broken nga ako iniwan ng jowa tapos itong kanta na to lagi umeere. Pero gustong gusto ko ang kantang to. Kabisado ko pa ang lyrics hahaha proud broken hearted 90's. Thank you sir paul for this immortal song. Love you

This solo is a very good example of how a fairly simple solo can be the perfect solo for a nice song. A solo that does not feed the guitarist's ego, but rather serves the music. It's not complex at all from a technical perspective, but takes a lot of feel to pull it off. It's one of those solos that I don't want to perform for fear of not being able to give justice to the song. Thank you for the tutorial, sir. It's definitely one of the most beautiful solos I've ever heard.

Perfect solo for a perfect song. It's the choice of notes plus the bends that make it work. They kinda give you the feel of someone trying to make someone stay, the bends, like bending time so it won't pass... :)
