Such a wonderful, beautiful artist. I grew up listening to Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Such a wonderful experience for me. I am 70 years old and still love the magic that their songs have brought to me and the world.
I like when he said he does a lot of writing while driving. That's exactly how he wrote the 59th street bridge song "Slow down you move too fast" He was literally driving over that bridge and the song came to him
Super talent like Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson and Pete Townsend and many more who have made everyone’s life a little more special. Check out his performance at the 911 memorial just beautiful.
If you don't really like each other noting can keep you together, arguments are the thing that cheese you off eventually, besides its proof Paul can survive on his own
I watched this on New Year's Eve and it still touches me, bringing back memories. That's what music is all about, even though 50 years has passed since this one was written ♥️
Absolutely, Artie made the songs of Paul famous in the same way that Paul’s compositions made Artie equally famous. I really really admire them both, the best due in music history.
Great, great musician, composer, poet. Love the richness of his oeuvre and performance style. Brilliant. Make-up department did a horrible job on him here.
What a treat to hear an intelligent discussion. Just hearing him talk about the Beatles, having been there, you can see the happy remembrances in his eyes.
Wednesday morning, 3 A.M! Lyrics like no other person writes: In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade.... Til he cried out in his anger and his shame, "I am leaving, I am leaving," but the fighter still remains.... All my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity... Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather... People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening... Don't know a dream that's not been shattered or driven to its knees...
@@theloniouscoltrane3778 Art didn’t write the lyrics but he was very much involved in making the songs so perfect. He spent countless hours in the studio - producing & working on the arrangements. He also wrote melodies & of course sang the songs over& over again to make a perfect sound. He has never been given the credit he deserves.
Oh Paul, the concept of 'flowing energy' comes to many of us trying to create. I believe when I'm plugged in and connected and art just flows, that is a direct line from a higher source, God, Budda, Jesus , ect. Whatever you want to call it, I believe its just coming thru us and using us as instruments. Listening to you for years just soothes me and our teenaged children love your music too. Something great than me or you wants us to keep going...........
none business, Personally, I consider Paul Simon to be the gr8est singer/songwriter of all time. ;-) No disrespect to greats like Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Jim Croce, Carole King, Jackson Browne, etc.
Wow, when he described the chemical explanation behind "flow" he described the exact effects of Molly on the brain. Not implying he used, just interesting juxtaposition.
Their music was the greatest backing sounds any teenager cld've wished for - appropriate for times we were going through in South Africa in the thick of Nazism Nationalist Party in full throttle under Vorster...People arrested & 'disappeared' / 'suicided thenselves out of 10th Floor windows... "Sounds of Silence" words were SO apt - "Let It Be" - (Beatles)... "Universal Soldier" - (Donovan)..."The Times They are a-Changing" - (Dylan)... "Woodstock" - (Joni Mitchell) "Oh what a time what a time it was... a time of innocence, a time of confidences..." (Old Friends)
Because there is pure energy, fresh ideas , concepts flow in the mind that is not aberrated, corrupt, saturated, if you are relax, you can really think more ideas, it comes from "higher being" connecting to a higher power , the spirit gives us power to create, to think, to focus, to meditate. Actually that is what i want to achieve, complete meditation and serenity so i can focus more, you can do more whether skill or talent.
For me ,listening to Simon and Garfunkel is about the lyrics because they are so meaningful . How can you not hear Bridge Over Troubled Water and The Boxer without it affecting you emotionally ?
Well, l would say, looking at the way he dressed and considering the heat in tv studios, one needs to raise his arms more than one time to cool it in - in some way. But you must be right, this guy knows how to dance with those hands.
It must be so difficult to not sound like a fool when you get compared to the Beatles ,especially when you yourself are absolutely superb . Paul Simon has written songs Paul McCartney wish he had to be honest . Maybe paul simon wished he wrote Yesterday thou .
Our good all days are gone but if you the new commer may be the answer is STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS But now you know and you don't know!!! There's always a kid in the heart of the HIPPIE cheers jc
Now the years are rolling by me, they are rocking evenly, I am older than I once was, and younger than I'll be, that's not unusual...No, it isn't strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same, after changes we are more or less the same...
America's Great Trilogy - Dylan, Simon & Springsteen, or the id, the ego and super ego, in some order. Rhythm of the Saints is the finest disc ever made. Play it loud. Cheers
Always makes me laugh when a person is asked "do you consider yourself to be a spiritual person?" All people are spiritual, whether they accept it or admit it or not.
This is an interesting video. I don't care much for assessing brain chemistry, because thought and spirit are what matter and the brain chemistry is simply an embodiment of those.
@I M Tibetan or Buddhist prayer beads for meditation mantra counting or, as you said, for jewelry likes. A way that men seem to be comfortable wearing bracelets in nyc lately.
"Evidently my expression says there's something wrong". No you didn't miss it. It is here in part 2, yeah, ikr; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5J4t_Xz2RrA.html
Sorry due to a mistake I erased your comment too (is early over her you know : ) As I was saying it doesn't matter big time is just kind of fun e.g. Napoleon B. a great military leader but couldn't reach f feet tall, etc etc, just a little sense of humor nothing against ALL short guys thanks : )
Creative while driving is similar to being creative while doodling. It frees your mind in certain areas to be creative, probably by accessing your subconscious.
The caption on the video is bad. I almost didn't watch this one because of it. The most interesting part was his discussion of brain chemistry and song writing.
He looks like Mike Bloomberg now. You ever see the photo of him in court when him and his wife got into a fight? He looked EXACTLY like Mike Bloomberg. Look........www.billboard.com/files/styles/article_main_image/public/media/paul-simon-edie-brickell-court-2014-billboard-650.jpg
If you ever read The Lowlands of Heaven, by Reverand George Vale Owens, this is what happens: Musically gifted spirits in the spirit world look for gifted, talented and receptive incarnates through whom to express their musical creations. I think this is what Paul is alluding to. He is a worthy instrument.
Q. "Are you a spiritual person or a more rational type of person?" - Frederick Skavlan to Paul Simon. Inference, spirituality is irrational, and reason is unspiritual. Kierkegaard and Kepler might not concur. Nor a certain Jesuit French physicist! A. "Of the four Beatles, I'm more like George Harrison" - ie spiritual!
Who's the babe? Mercedes Mason...who admitted elsewhere in the show she has forgotten how to speak Swedish. Although born there and living in America, she is Persian[iranian] by birth.
Simon and Garfunkle were much better class of music than the beatles. The beatles were popularized by the young hysterical masses not particularly interested in a deep message or purpose. Yah, yah, yah.
