I was 21 when I bought this record. For me it is a solid 9. Let me tell you why.. Years ago when I brought it I thought it was a solid 8. Culturally, significantly and creatively. Now 36 years later I've found it to be musically and lyrically absolutely brilliant. It is a historical document. It's an album that needed to exist in my opinion. Now when I listen to it, I love it more and more. That being said, this is not my Favorite Paul Simon or S&G album. It still deserves a 9 in my heart. Great video, great channel! 🙂

A favourite album for the past 35 years. The albums either side are unfairly overshadowed by this, but it's hard to argue with the greatness contained within - my least favourite tracks are Homeless and That Was Your Mother, but they're still good songs. Boy in the Bubble, the title track, Diamonds and the underrated Under African Skies are my top picks.

A great album that has stood the test of time. There's been nothing like it. This reminds me this is one of favourite side ones of any album - however, I do think the 2nd side sags Crazy love and That was your mother. However, `All around the World` is fantastic and one of my favourite tracks on the album. Even then the two tracks that don't attract me too much is more to do with comparisons with greatness.

That Gumboots album sounds familiar, pretty sure it's on my hard drive, along with the whole 'Indestructible Beat of Soweto''.series, all great intros to the sounds of African music for many in the 80's. Graceland became the gateway into world music for a whole generation!

Once again, really hope you all enjoy this one, not to mention the Marc Bolan and T-Rex Top Ten that I've currently got in the works for next month, yes...? (By the way, if anyone's wondering which African musical figure made the comments re: the pre-existing two-way traffic between American and African music cited at c.11:00 in, it was the late Stimela and Graceland guitarist Ray Phiri...).

You said it. Who’s gonna win this battle! The song is over is one of my favorite Who songs! I hope Trey plays the original mix of guitar and pen as the remaster is a lot different (and in a different key). Roger sounds like a boss in the original higher pitched version
