Any person from a working class (or any) background with an ounce of compassion surely cannot in good conscience support the genocide being visited upon other ordinary working class people in Gaza and, contrary to what seems to be the current mindset, it is entirely acceptable to disagree vehemently with both the foreign & military policy of the sovereign nation state of Israel without being deemed to be anti -semitic. The two things are completely compatible. Equally, supporting the ordinary working class people of Gaza does not equate to supporting the horrific actions of Hamas. Describing offering that support, in whatever fashion, to the ordinary people of Gaza as "virtue signalling or "being woke" is a cop out. When did it become wrong to speak out about the despicable acts visited by one nation upon another, Surely as human beings and citizens of the world that's exactly what we should be doing, isn't it? I applaud Paul Weller for always calling it as he sees it. One last point, as an Irish person whose ancestors were intentionally starved to death or forced to leave their own country rather than die of starvation in the mid nineteenth century, (there was no Irish Famine, the ruling class(es) made sure that all the food left the country as a policy decision) the starvation and creation of an unnecessary famine as a means of genocide in Gaza, an intentional policy of Netanyahu's, is deplorable, beyond reprehensible and a war crime without any question.
Peace before the 7th, then Hamas intervened......... Ask yourself why NONE of the neighbouring countries want to open their borders and let the Palestinians in.
Well spoken my friend. There are a few ignorants here who think that opposing genocide is 'woke'. PW has always been anti establishment since his days with The Jam. A champion of the underdog and who has always been opposed to imperialism. Displaying the Palestine flag is a brave move in a sea of silence among artists. Roger Waters and Susan Sarandon with standing. Personally I applaud it. 🇦🇪
@@parmesancrisp really?I never knew that after following him for 50 years! Andy( as you call him) seems all about himself and trys too hard...plus the moons are crap
Opposing a genocide is not wokery! Every human being who opposes genocide and tyranny should be standing with Palestine. I think Paul was being sarcastic when he said he'd vote Tory but a few thickos didn't get it did they.
@@rushshukla4636 woke up and smell the coffee.....NONE of the neighbouring Muslim countries have opened their borders to the Palestinians, ask yourself why.
Weller has screwed it. Supporting the kidnappers and baby killers. I was a massive fan. Now . I light a light fuse! Im gone. Whole love for him gone. Will never attend another concert or but another record. Ever
Probably not the kind of supporter he wants anyway. Maybe look at the bigger picture with Palestine...? Decades of persecution by Israel, and what the Israelis are doing in Gaza now is beyond inhumane.
@abroady4506 they are nothing but squatters. Although l might let him off for the Ukraine flag. There aren't any Muslims going to watch him so he better wise up.
@@TheMusicalElitist Because he is very very rich, with almost 40 years of royalties….. and he has several residences, one being prime real estate in central London 👌
@@heraldeventsandfilms5970 a nobody who has all of the Jams, Style Council, Weller, OCS and Cradock albums on vinyl. The above performance is utter crap
Craddock's part in this song is like Lewis Hamilton driving a 1 litre Fiesta on a Sunday. Wellers vocals are great, guitar ok. Drums seem a bit lifeless, but it's hardly terrible!
@@Dave79-be7ld😂😂😂😂 If you were a ‘lifelong fan’, you’d know about his political stance and how much it influenced his music. Now toddle off, you trifling oaf.
There was no issue before the 7th, all was well, then Hamas decided to create chaos, murdering and kidnapping inc babies and children. Ask yourself why no neighbouring Islamic country will open their borders to Palestinians. Please don't be naive.
@@marksmith334 Course you're not. You're just silly little weirdo making pointless comments on the internet, slowly plodding along until you shuffle off this mortal coil.
