I’m 43… not sure if the original is more haunting to my soul, as it makes me feel like I’m a teenager again… or Weller’s version which makes me feel like the old man I’ll eventually become. Both are exquisite 🙏
I'm 61 and both versions spoke to me in the inverse way, bittersweet for the life I've had, from teenager to near-retirement, the constant self-questioning, the potential - realized and not - and the perpetual uncertainty, and hope, for what remains of my (our) time on Earth.
I'm standing here in my kitchen halfway around the world, not even wanting to breathe as I listen to this song -- it just autoplayed and I just froze in place to take it all in. Big thanks to the algorithm for bringing me this little slice of bliss. Paul Weller (and the rest of this great band) is perfect.
This performance demonstrates that this song works on all levels. Is genre-less. All encompassing. What Billie and FINEAS created lives on in so many great ways. The great Mr Weller has been one of my favourite musicians since I was a schoolgirl back in the early 80s.
Can you imagine being billie, knowing that one of the GREATEST artists love your song so much he covers it. I mean cmon that's just class. Talent always recognizes talent.
Paul Weller is a treasure! Seems the Brits so appreciate him for good reason. Here in the US? Sadly not so well known. Deserves a lot more respect over here in the US.
Heart achingly beautiful. Not often I have seen Paul singing other artists songs as it’s usually the other way round. Truly beautiful song by Billy Eilish.
Fantastic ! Paul when he does a cover always picks brilliant songs and adds to them this is no exception , is there no end to his talent? I hope not.Wishing on a star is sublime .
Thats why he’s the ! 🐐 ! Not too sure about js hair ! I’m so glad I met him when I did The word Genius is banded about to often But in his case I’m all for it ..👍🏾#checkoutlizaradely
Before hearing this version, the only version that lives in my head rent free is the meow meow meow meow version. Thank you Mr Weller for covering this!
It is rare that I hear a cover that I think is better than the original. His Studio 150 Album didn't quite do it for me. This one does. His voice is better in his 60s than ever, which is surprising. Gorgeous.
