I used to follow this band around, seen them many of times highway 101 was the best, Paulette was so nice, i took many of photos of the band and even had one blown up to 32X24 which they all signed then Cactus Moser wanted a copy so i had another one made same size and he hung it in his living room, so I was told.
It's a crying shame that everyone hasn't heard of Paulette. This is REAL country music. I'm 29 and grew up listening to this and still love it. I love introducing it to my kids as well.
Agreed. I just got back from watching her tonight December 10, 2016. FULL of energy, jumping around on stage, singing just as good as 30 years ago! CRAZY!!!!
In my opinion noone should ever try to cover a Paulette Carlson song. As great as Tammy and Linda are I think that once Paulette does an original song she owns it. Period. Just my two cents worth.
Paulette has always been one of my favorites I've ever laid ears AND eyes on, beautiful! Someday before I die, I would LOVE to see Paulette and Stevie Nicks duet ... That would be as good as it gets!
I spent 28 travelling all over the U.S., welding pipe. Not much to do after work, so I spent a lot of time in the honky tonks. I finally got married and left that behind, but when I listen to this, I sure do miss those times. Paulette is absolutely one of the best entertainers I've seen and heard. God Bless you. Ajeocci
Saw you in concert on Veterans Day in Washington DC. The band didn't know your songs. I wanted to jump up there and play for you. I enjoyed it anyway cause you are awesome.
A dozen yellow roses could bring tears to my eyes make this grown man cry over the Cowgirl Angel with a sweet voice and a heart of gold. From Burbank to Ventura and wherever ye may be gurl... there too, shall I go, for you've captured my soul and inspired me to write a bunch o' tunes jest fer you to sing. May The Lord continue to Bless you abundantly! - Robby
Don't you think that MAYBE Highway 101 DOES AN AWESOME JOB as well???! I mean, Highway 101 KIND OF comes close to sounding like Miss P.C.--yes? no? Anywaysss, I THINK that Highway 101 SOUNDS AWESOME TOO!! : )
@kingratcool oh ok, THANKS for the reply! I didn't know she was the lead singer--COOL! I like BOTH singers--Paulette C. has a nice voice AND I LIKE ALL of Highway 101's songs as well!! :-)
@pcjabber Would love to see Paulette tour again. Is she in good health? These days, things are so competitive and it's so easy to get top-notch players and put together a tight band. I do bookings for a different genre, but country is my personal favorite.
@mankind2112 There will be another new wave of country acts who go back to the classic sound. Look at what Dwight Yoakam, Highway 101, Sweethearts Of The Rodeo and Jim Lauderdale did during the 1980s.
I REMEMBER THE FIRST DAY I HEARD THIS SONG BACK IN THE EARLY 80'S , I COULDN'T STOP SINGING ALONG 2 IT EVERY TIME IT CAME ON THE RADIO !! NOW THAT'S A VOICE !!!!
@Nateness01 One of the greatest voices ever. Too bad the original band split they had the best sound around, never get tired or playing the albums over & over.
@rockon18 For sure! Desert Rose Band are one of the most down to earth groups. I remember writing their fanclub and they hand-signed a photo and mailed it to me. Later, I got to meet them a couple times at their shows, which were close-knit. DRB still plays a few full band concerts each year, mainly music festivals and with the original lineup intact, which includes JD Maness on steel. Sadly, their second steel player, Tom Brumley passed away. John Jorgensen is an amazing guitar player too!
I have both the Whiskey River albums. They bring back some great memories from the Union Bar every time I listen to them. Paulette's harmonies on I Don't Care Anymore with Judd Erickson are incredible.
Paulette hung out with a friend of mine back in college. I knew the guy she wrote the song about. He was a jerk. He had a boa constrictor and once a month he would adopt a free kitten from the newspaper for the boa's dinner.
There has never been anything under rated about her, I don't know WHY people keep saying that so many of these singers and groups have been under rated...
