Welcome everyone! Join me as we go over the paved oval RC race from ERC at the Hobby Connection. In this video you will see the 8.0 breakout truck class, 7.5 breakout car class, the 17.5 Monster lock class as well as some quarter scale racing.
Also, I want to say I'm aware the first person view is a bit raw and shaky. I've just recently upgraded my first person view camera to something of much higher quality. Hoping upcoming episodes will have some better first person view shots with the new gear.
I hope you enjoy and thank you all for your support

@@jbtricklerc even more challenging in break out classes especially on a big kit dopr track like this you can get the guy behind you to draft and pull him to.break lit or bump draft and get guy in front to break out. I run indoor carpet oval same exact carpet and size as what is ran at the snowbirds we do oval.one week then change it to road coarse the following we use foam tires and rubber tire classes on oval we got a legends break out class and a 25.5 pan car oval break out class

I use to race real racecars pro trucks and outlaw latemodels race real cars for 12 years got in a bad wreck and screwed up my back real bad and I'm 29 no sense in getting in another wreck and being disabled at my young age so I went rc racing and having more fun and save alot more money but setting these up are completely different and opposite then real car setups

This episode brought back so many wonderful memories. Back in the day I raced at a banked asphalt oval in McChesney Park, Illinois. (still open I think....google it) We raced 1/10 NASCAR oval cars mostly AE, touring cars like the Losi XXXS and AE 1st T-car (can't remember what it was called) & Indy cars. It was during the heyday of NASCAR when the Days of Thunder movie was released. I would post a picture or 2 but there doesn't seem to be a way to attach it. We even had contests to see how authentic livery we could do up a body. Back then you could buy and run, Ford T-birds, Chevy Lumina's, Old's, any my fav Buicks. If there is a way let me know please and I'll post a couple of pix from how we did it 20 years ago. I'm 77 now so I just have my collection, pictures and memories. I live in a suburb of Albuquerque and the last track here closed 2 weeks ago.So sad the landlord raised the rent so high the business became nonviable. But thank you so much for posting your well done videos.

Tom, thank you for sharing that. Sound like amazing memories and good times. Its amazing to see the changes through the years. I got into the hobby in the 90s. A lot has changed and a lot has stayed the same as strange as that may sound. One thing is for sure. Even though I'm taking a break from it. I love it. Feel free to send some pictures to my Facebook account if you are able.

The 08 looks like a perfect class to learn to drive consistently. I used to race 1/10th scale gas and electric back about 25 years ago and the hardest thing for me was learning to be consistent when everyone around me was busting their asses for the win. It was difficult to not try and keep up with them which isnt what a beginner should be trying to do. Id love to get back into it actually but unfortunately I cant find any tracks or organizations here in Arkansas.

Great looking track. Are you running BSR caps for your tires? We had an 8 second and 7 second cars around a 410 ish foot run line in King, very easy racing to get into because you can drag out old brushed motors and classic pan car and still be competitive and plenty fast enough when you had 8 or 10 trucks you could throw a blanket over. It was all about how consistent a driver you could be at hitting your marks. We also all ran bump-up buttons to increase throttle limit as the battery discharges. And depending on what wings are allowed, we ran larger wings with side dams on the back and the trick was to drag the guy behind you into breaking out, might be what is happening on your breakouts.

RLee you just hit the nail on the head! That's exactly like breakout trucks that we race at Easley. Very fun, great class to get people involved with oval pan car racing. Only difference is pretty much everyone is running brushless now but you described it perfectly.

It took some searching but I finally found this. I was in Hobby Connection Wednesday 2/10/2021 looking for some paint remover for my RC TT02 mustang I built. Saw a guy in the store with one of these getting some work done on it. I didn’t want to pry and ask him and the salesman that was helping him. I wanted to know what kind of truck it was and when they are racing them. Is it a RTR or a custom built with certain criteria . Haven’t seen a lot of RU-vid videos on this type of racing

how does someone get started in this? where do you buy the cars ,trucks, etc for this? And what scales you guys race?
@jbtricklerc
@jbtricklerc 3 года назад
Tmothy it depends on which class you want to run. The 1/10 scale pan cars can be found on the Mudslide RC, Hyperdrive, Pemberton, KSG websites. They are special machined chassis that are typically not "on the shelf" car kits like say a traxxas and such. However, if you have a local Hobby Shop that sells RC cars they can likely order one as well. But if not check the websites I stated above. Key word search is the brands I mentioned and "pan car". If you're interested in the 1/4 Scales those are also specialized and I'm no as familiar with those as I dont race them. However, if you visit the QSAC . org page they list some builders for those cars. They are very cool and actual tube chassis like a real car where the 1/10 pan cars are a flat carbon fiber chassis. Hope this helps.

You can look at brand new car kits on the Mudslide Motorsports website. Also Facebook classifieds and John Norman at Speedway Motorsports offer great used and refurbished cars from chassis only to ready to run. I highly recommend John at Speedway Motorsports.
