Pavel Datsyuk speaks after joining the prospects on the ice at day 2 of Detroit Red Wings development camp. Datsyuk was recently announced as a member of the 2024 Hockey Hall of Fame induction class.
Gretzky is the Great One. Datsyuk is the Greatest One in my opinion. No one like him before or since. I remember leaving the Stanley Cup Parade in 2008 and went to further celebrate in Royal Oak with friends. I happened to literally run into Pavel and Jiri Hudler stumbling out of a bar, they were so hammered there wasn't a word of English spoken but loved it. I needed a ride home but my phone was dead and didn't want to ask them to use theirs. What a humble legend. ❤From Detroit
As a Blues fan, he is my all time favorite player. He might be a Blues killer. But there is no player in my mind, not even McDavid, matches his skills. He is the most skilled player I have ever seen in my life and I have been so fortunate to watch him and his highlights. Will never get tired of watching his highlights.
I'm a local wing fan and always justified me not being biased towards datsyuk being the all time best or most entertaining player to watch just by the interviews of the other players across the league talk about what a class act datsyuk was and how he was the most difficult player to play against. His moves were just ahead of his time
You have to think he paved the way for other players to play like him. The curl and drag moves. everything. But no one has ever done his break away move like he has done it. pavel was just way a head of his time.
Some of the stuff you pulled off Theyre still trying to do it You are my greatest of all time Stretching in warm up Back hand in stride far side top corner Reach back stick flat snag the pack like a cane On and on and on Unbelievable Red Wing royalty Hockey royalty Thanks for everything you do Pavel really I hope you enjoy the retired life You rocked it Hall of Fame Made us so proud to be Red Wing fans Thank you for everything The highlights will live on
"Have you seen Henrick? "WWWHHHHOOOO???" It's tough with the language barrier, but every once in while you get a sense of his sense of humor and its great.
I remember watching him as a rookie on that stacked 2001-02 team. I thought, wow, there is truly something special about this young man. Congratulations, "Magic Man" on your Hall Of Fame induction, and thank you for helping to bring two Stanley Cups to Hockeytown.
One of those very rare talents that "Literally" had you on the edge of your seat every time he stepped on the ice! Guys like that come around maybe once in a generation if your lucky. Congrats on the HOF induction, no one in HockeyTown is surprised by this huge honor!
So great to see that legend back in Detroit even if it is for a short time. I wish he was immortal in that he could play forever. I am so privileged to have seen him play live.
Fucking love you Pasha. Thank you for all the joy you have brought to my life simply by playing a game with such high skill, for being a Red Wing, and for coming back to help the next generation of Wings! GO WINGS GO!
He straight up said he wanted to spend time with his family. It's hilarious that y'all think he's just committed his soul to hockey for the rest of his life 😂
Man, this is a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT day, now, for sure😁! Just to see and hear this absolute legend of a Red Wings player AND all-round great human being, back once more in a Detroit orbit🏒🥅🎯! The Magician - enough said👏!
I'm just a camera guy in Toronto, but I'm willing to re-locate my family to Detroit and learn how to properly mic up, and mix sound for media availability sessions for the Red Wings. I'll take a team friendly contract, I know Yzerman doesn't like term, 2-3 years seems like a number he likes so could start there...
