As a business owner, I would never discuss item value in front of a customer. Let them get their own appraisal and pay for it. Never heard of a seller coming back in to give a refund for a bogus item they sold.

100,000 at auction means you maybe it sells for $70,000 at auction. They take 20% which leaves you with $54,000 So when someone offers you $50K for an evaluation worth 100K at auction you need cash soon taking $50Grand doesn’t look so bad. 😊

RIck, you need to come to Indonesia. In Semarang alone, especially Kota Lama or Johar street market, Semarang, there's a lot of road side antique stores. They sell many amazing legit antique stuff. Those stuff probably worth thousands of dollar, but only sell for 1 to 5 dollar. They just don't know what they sell.

People calling pawn shops a scam but it's just how it works. If you have something that can sell for 18k you go ahead and wait for someone to buy it or send it off to an auction so you can wait another week while they do the checks, bidding and handle money transfers. Pawn shops give you a shit price but most of the time they give you money right here right now. You don't sell stuff to pawn shop because you want to make money it's because you need the money ASAP
