I never understood why would anyone trust one of Rick's buddies to give a fair price estimate? If I was selling an item I would want an independent expert that is not one of the buyers buddies. lol

You dont need an expert at all, all u jeed is a brain which clearly 50 percent of the people who watch this show dont have. The expert is just for the show.
For those of you who don't know, this is actually a pretty historic piece. This Gunblade was used by Squall Lionheart when he, and his fellow party members conquered the great ultamecia around 1999 A.D. This is quite a fascinating and historic discovery which gives us an in depth view of what life was like around that time.

7500 makes sense given how long it would take to likely sell. Honestly a bit high. Also makes sense to walk away. For high end items it can be worth it to try for an auction though they take a significant chunk of the sale price. Pawn Shops provide fast reliable yet low offers, as the value they provide is the ability to hold onto items for a long time and find buyers that most folks wouldn’t be able to.
Well there are stab marks and a gunshot wound on this. This significantly drops the value. The realistic price for this melon on a good day to right buyer in an auction is 50cents.
I'm just amazed that the seller actually listened to the appraisal and (mostly) adjusted his asking price accordingly. I was totally expecting him to hear that it was worth $12K then be like "I still want $20K."

I don't get it. A sword like that should be really easy to sell, not only is a really good looking cosmetic item but it also has it use in non-illegal activities such as deer/boar hunting. It is like a ring that you can fish with.

I always wondered if a sword pistol would actually work because I thought the intensity of the oscillation from the gun going off would end up breaking the blade. It's cool to see that there is a functioning tool for the concept out there in the world.
Exactly. I don't know what this guy is doing trying to sell a one of a kind, historical antique that's in perfect and functional condition to a pawn shop. Definitely take it to an auction. Value might have gone up just from being on a TV show.

Imagine calling a friend, getting him to come down to your store to check out a sword pistol, negotiating, getting the friend to get down to an open area, getting the supplies for the sword pistol, shooting and using the sword pistol, negotiating some more, and in the end it’s a no deal.
