@ rockingtapan, Elitist in what sense? HE did get elected to the parliament. He is fluent in Hindi and not so fluent in Malayalam. People accept him. In India, you can be an elitist but if you do good work you are accepted. It remains to be seen if he can do good work.

If India were ever to transition to a Presidential system of governance, one could see his some day becoming the President. But he is afraid to blaze his own trail so to speak and has latched his destiny to the Congress party.

@anonymous Every Politician has their strength and weaknessess. One Politician may be better then another. Everyone is unique,so every Politician is also unique. Shashi Tharoor has done alot of contributions. Maybe we can encourage him to further develop on other areas to improve,then I believe that he would be a greater and better Politician.
