I don’t understand why people in Florida complain about high insurance cost. They chose to live in a hurricane prone state, even in x zone, flooding can happen. If you can’t afford to live in a high risk area, move somewhere else.
The big problem with mobile home insurance is that they will never pay enough to replace the home with a new one. That might be all right if it's a seasonal home, but not if it's your only residence. It's absolutely a must to carry flood insurance no matter what kind of home you own. I have friends who didn't have it, and after Helene they are faced with trying to repair flood damage out of pocket.
It’s a retirement location possibility for us. Pennsylvania is number one now….but ahhhh upstate NY. Just because of the weather will ALWAYS prevent huge developers from building like Florida! It will NEVERRR happen so less crowding= better quality of life!
@@eleanormassaro5195then I suggest for these people that cannot afford the cost, move somewhere you can. I might like to live in a penthouse, but couafford the HOA fees so I don’t live in one
The whole state of Florida is a FLOOD ZONE!!.....just what is required as mandatory to has to have flood coverage....but areas that have never flooded always says " I've lived her 30 years and it has never flooded"...well looky here see what has happened because you never had a flood and now that your home is lost due to not carrying a coverage you needed now it's woe is me....and everyone is to blame but themselves. And I'm saying this as a licensed insurance agent in Florida....every homeowner/renter should carry coverage big or small...😐
OMG. People should be prepared for the worst and not cry to the public about misfortune. And they live in one step above a cardboard box. What did they expect? The floors were made out of particle board
You didn’t listen. They said “They will pay, if the city condemns the home, will pay $30k *for* *storage* to have the home removed and to relocate.” That 30k is separate to the house cover.
@@chrismatteson2337 That is true. But they can only give what the repair will cost after estimates are given. I was responding to the comment that 30 grand isn't much. For a home, it wouldn't be, but for a mobile home to be rebuilt, it is adequate, in my opinion. In many parks, replacement with another mobile home is not allowed, as cities are trying to get rid of MH parks.
Am I misunderstanding? It seems like a insurance company is making a legal requirement for all homes? i though the government was the only one who could do that
Yes, you misunderstood. The legislature made it a legal requirement, not the insurance companies. And the legislature passed the law to help homeowners who otherwise would not have purchased and paid for insurance policies. Although these people aren't getting a ton of money on the payouts, they're getting more than they would have if they didn't have the mandatory coverage. It may prove to be enough to at least relocate and not become homeless and a burden on society.
