Exactly, with thanks to Ogrepon and the teaser images/videos, we KNOW that Terapagos is literally just Megaevolution & a Gigantamax rolled into one potentially, whether its treating ALL its moves as Enhanced Stab, Treat all moves as Reverse Stab used against it or as basic as letting it choose ANY of the types during battle and immediately Tera-type with no limit(meaning it could Counter Tera type or STAB Tera type on the fly) and can even apply that to team-mates. Which the latter is definitely the most likely if they dont want to just straight up make it Yatagarasu turn lock in Yugioh back in the day, auto-banned levels bad, even worst then `Origin Plate` Arceus in Legends Arceus. Hell the fact the `extra OP stuff` was not released till a new version of the games down the line instead of a DLC makes it even more sooner when the broken stuff comes out, especially in the base game. acting more as a shove of a full on `game revamp` during the same game`s period, then a entirely new Competition ruleset to go by, like an entire new competition season.

I'd argue this has been a problem in the franchise since the very beginning. Some of the strongest Pokemon in Gen 1 were trade only evolutions, and for people who didn't own a link cable plus a friend with their own copy of the game, they most likely ended up with two Gameboys and the second version just to have access to 'mons like Alakazam and Gengar. In Gen 2, most of the new evolutions were also locked behind trades, including two of the new steel types, further encouraging this problem. Gen 3's Pokedex was split across multiple different games, encouraging more purchases for access to the Johto starters, and Gen 4 brought even more trade evolutions and doubled the number of Mythicals, which back then would have necessitated a trip to Toys R Us or an equivalent, limited time event for a chance to download them. As much as I like this series and want to see it develop, we have been milked hard since day one.
@BladeSerph
@BladeSerph 6 месяцев назад
To be fair, back in the day, Pokemon games were 30 or 40 bucks in the gameboy era as far as im aware of, instead of the 60 dollar price these days, and the last 10 or so years. Sure inflation happened down the line, but even if minimum wage was something like 9 bucks a hour back then, you could literally get one of those games with just 4~6 hours of a paycheck, vs if you earn 13~ bucks a hour now a days, its likely in the 4~5 hour ballpark....BUUUUUUT.... -You have the 30 dollar extra price tag for the dlc. -The mandatory Subscription costs to play together with friends, since i dont even believe they have Local play for these current pokemon games anymore, which even if they do, G.L. if your friends live in entirely different cities/countries/continents. compared to not having the internet back in the day so it was easier to run into other neighborhood kids to share interests in the same games and it was just a game of learning things yourself then having cheat-sheets & pokemon experts online that promote said broken OP`mons for the latest generation, sometimes within the first 3 days of the game`s release. -The fact that even if games these days have alot more content, a good deal of them are just purposely engineered to be walking simulators more then actual gameplay especially when they are promoted as `open world games.` -Plus likely a much more etc.s in place.

It has been a thing since the start. Don't forget that a series staple is to release the same game twice with the only difference being to arbitrarily assign Pokémon as exclusive forcing trades. The recent decompilation has shown that the same source code will build both red and blue

@tpfoxCastro
@tpfoxCastro 6 месяцев назад
I agree. This is a problem that always existed. To add on your comment, another reason recent and harder to obtain pokemon are so strong is just so people use them. You can see this in modern pokemon better, for example, the last 3 pseudos have signature moves and the reason for that is to motivate the player to use them. After so many pseudos the term "pseudo-legendary" isn't that special, after so many starters they aren't that special anymore so, new moves and abiities have to be made so they are interesting. The developers want people to use the new pokemon and for that they need to give pokemon new type combinations, new moves, new abilities and much more, not to force people to buy the game, but to force people to play the game without their old Sword and Shield team. In resume, pokemon like Ogerpon are not locked in the DLC because they are super strong, they are super strong because they are locked in the DLC
@TheMissingLink2
@TheMissingLink2 6 месяцев назад
Bro, this is VERY untrue. The top Mon in Gen 1 were Mewtwo, Tauros, Snorlax, Persian, Alakazam, Zapdos, Chansey, Rhydon, Cloyster, Jolteon, Exeggutor, Starmie, Slowbro, and Jynx..... You don't have to trade a single damn one to get in the game...... Sure, Gengar was an OU mon you needed to trade for, but basically it was the only one. Sure Machamp and Golem were also trade pokemon, but they were not nearly as good or staple as the mon I just listed. So they weren't a requirement to build a good team. Besides, there a buttload of other Pokemon that were just as viable such a Dragonite, Gyarados, Charizard, Lapras, Venusaur and so on..... You don't know very much about Gen 1 competitive play at all.....

Honestly, at least Calyrex and Ogerpon follow the basic rules of invulnerability. Urshifu doesn’t, and it is by far one of if not the most broken Pokémon GF has ever made, and they seem relatively content with it considering they barely toned the damn thing down this gen despite mass complaints about it… Ogerpon and Calyrex are balanced compared to Urshifu!
@bruh_beans_1018
@bruh_beans_1018 6 месяцев назад

@TheDancingTuber161
@TheDancingTuber161 6 месяцев назад
@@bruh_beans_1018 And even then Single Strike is still pretty damn good, just not as used I think because it just doesn't have as much to synergize with. Rapid Strike has way too many options and it basically made most offensive water types completely unviable compared to it because it does their job more effectively. @@zero1343 for the amount of work they have to do? They absolutely are underpaid. You realize last year they came out with two open world games? Do you understand the amount of manpower that goes into making Open world games? The fact that Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet came out within a year of each other when we know that the development time on them was extremely short just shows how absurdly overworked these employees are. Yes they are all parts of a machine, however Nintendo specifically makes money just from publishing games and the pokémon company makes all their money from merchandising. The majority of money from merchandise does not go to game freak, and the majority of money this franchise makes does not come from video games. When you cite the fact that this is the highest earning franchise in the world, that's because of the trading parts and the plushies. It's not because of the video games, so obviously game freak is forced to push out games and an unhealthy rate, in order to make sure that the pokémon company can produce as many accessory items as possible. No game developer wants to make a poorly made game, no game developer wants to rush out a game, they are forced to by higher ups.
@BladeSerph
@BladeSerph 6 месяцев назад
As some people said in other videos, Pokemon company LITERALLY makes more money in selling merchandise then it does games these days. So its quite obvious the focus is more on shipping out `marketable plushies` then caring to have what original it came from, the freakin game series, to keep up the tradition. This is why i expect them to likely push more and more for more broken as fk and `cute`sie` looking OP pokemon and reaching the `falling points` alot sooner where it turns into Yugioh, which is now just literally 10~40+ card loop spams in the FIRST TURN of a match and if your opponent doesnt have hand traps, a Max C, Effect Veiler, something similar to E.Veiler or so on, your likely utterly locked down and fk`d in the match, especially if your not playing a similar deck of broken`ness already. Games, especially on the competitive side should never escalate to where matches get sped to where its a instant win in what could be the first 5 minutes of a match, if you omit the time spent with retarded levels of setup that would normally not be possible if it wasnt for the fact every single `card` in someone`s deck didnt have 3+ sentences or longer of text that basically can be summaraized as: "HEY-O KIDDOS TIME TO PULL SOME GRADE SSS PLUS BULLSHITE!" `Hell, Calarex & its steeds, Urshifu, Ogrepon, The Sushi feesh & Giant catfish, Annihilape and basically the entire paradox pokemon line(plus a few others) is quite literally just that single quote and then some.

If they actually left the old stuff in and had the old QoL mechanics carried over to the next base game instead of either removing it, re-selling it as `paid DLC` or in the best case scenario, patching it in likely at the END of the game`s lifespan because they will always kill off the game in basically a year for an entirely new game effectively, granted maybe im mixing up the actual release dates. But with how pokemon games come out, it seems like a yearly process, even if its actually every 2 years. Still doesnt excuse the fact they now `Dex it exclude` previous pokemon which acts as a artifical giant FK YOU slap against competitive & collection lovers, just for the sake of likely doing significantly less work, then maybe give a reason for the extra costs by investing in BETTER cartridge materials for a bigger GB size to allow all the Pokemanz to be present and just lock most via national dex or have to be `traded in` like usual, by not being native to the region normally.

@BladeSerph
@BladeSerph 6 месяцев назад
@@afro025 that’s the thing, they are now cracking down on those behaviors a lot more now. Which means they are likely to escalate it further. On top of that, they even have beef against unofficial tournaments which means if someone wants to host a tourney with previous games, the Pokémon company is highly likely to pull a cease and desist, which just leaves doing it via online or stuck doing it offical. Which at that point why the fk play it via the official games, people would rather just use the unofficial stuff instead which provides just that. But then the pokemon company is likely gonna crack down on that too eventually just like they did with many Pokémon ROM hacks and Fangames. It’s really going to show how much the Pokémon company not only wants players to NOT use 3rd party materials, but also force them to buy the games full priced, dlc included when the older stuff is either still at full price, whether it’s digital or the really old stuff is delisted, so you gotta chase down a super expensive copy off of Amazon, if they have not removed said game’s access to Pokémon home already for generation hopping transfers. Which since it’s all digital, means eventually just like DEX ITs, the Pokémon company will eventually shut down Pokémon home just like the previous stuff, to put a new ver on a different console but likely to forget to include permanent transfer from the older hub to the newer one.

@@skyrimlover777 I mean if tons of Pokemon are busted beyond comprehension, that affects casual play too- but yeah tons of people still play the older generations' competitive formats, for those exact reasons. Combine that with almost universally awful Pokemon designs, poorly implemented gimmicks that just get tossed in the garbage with the next generation, shitty 3D graphics, and Nintendo being a flaming trash bin of a company and yeah, it's pretty easy to see why most fans over the age of 14 don't like or play the modern games.
@oliverschultz2631
@oliverschultz2631 6 месяцев назад
@@Titan990 right, except that's not remotely true? RGBY and GSC have had the most exceptionally high sales of the series with 46 and 30 million copies sold respectively. Since then every Pokemon game has sold almost the same number of copies, ranging from 23-26 million. The only outlier during this time was Gen 6's X/Y (which was not the series stabilizing, I don't even know how you came to that conclusion) where the sales tanked to 17 million before recovering with Gen 8. Notably Gens 3-4 (what most older fans consider to be when the series was actually good) had 23 and 26 million units sold respectively, compared to the 23 million units of the latest game, Scarlet and Violet. Now, you could argue that this only shows that the games aren't less popular, but with context it absolutely does. The earlier games were released during the early 2000s video game crash, when a series of bad releases from a number of companies gave video games a bad reputation and sales tanked. Gen 1 and 2 release before the crash, and they're still the most that any Pokemon game has ever sold, dramatically more sales than the modern games. Gen 3 and to a lesser affect Gen 4 are affected by the crash, but their sales are still equal to the modern games. Since then, the video game industry has changed from being a niche hobby/way of entertaining children to a powerhouse, being larger than movies and TV put together. Modern games basically always outperform older ones, because there's just more people interested in buying video games. In spite of that, Pokemon game sales haven't increased since then. People just don't like pretty much anything Pokemon has been doing since Gen 4 (or 5, people usually draw the cutoff after one of those two games) and it reflects in the sales.

For example, in 7th gen you had to buy the ultra sun/moon to keep playing competitively even if you already bought the first ones. Now you only need to upgrade your game with the dlc. In fact you don’t even require the dlc to play. Also you can create more accounts on your switch, play the games, catch multiple legendaries and trade them through pokemon home. Not that it is fun or fast, but you do have more and cheaper options. What really bothers me is when strong legendaries from past gen are not available in game like urshifu and regieleki and yet are allowed on teams. @kikitanda4024
@kikitanda4024 23 дня назад
The USUM complaint was that those games did not have enough content to be stand alone games. They should have been base game (Sun/Moon) DLC. SWSH are also bare bone games that are glitchy and poorly made that should have had a bunch of the DLC content baked into the game. If you actually try to understand each complaint, you'll realize they're not contradictory.

I always find it interesting to hear how competitive player see these Pokémon as, how to utilized them and how the competitive scene is handled. As a casual Pokémon player, I think that if a Pokémon can be used in the game, then there should at least be a way to get it within the game itself. As an example, if someone had skipped out on Sword/Shield and went straight into Scarlet/Violet, they wouldn't have access to the legendries within those games without buying them and their DLC. So why not update Scarlet/Violet to have "Legendary Islands" you can travel to to obtain them, a bit like the Hoopa rings in OrAs or the Ultra Worm Holes in Ultra sun/Moon. Also, can we just make mythicals available to catch in the main game without some limited timed event, the amount of them I've missed so far. True, they have made some available like Deoxys and Celebi (till Back closes), Keldeo, Mew, etc. But you need other games to get them, plus there are still plenty of them that haven't had this treatment like Hoopa, Diancie, Zeraora, etc.

Well, making the pokemon free would nullify the reason for buying the dlc, especially if you have them while doing the storyline. I could see them as gift mons but having a solid way to get them for free would ruin the experience. Imo tpc should just make brackets for dlc and non dlc competitions

I'll still do ranked with Rental Teams, etc. And I like to watch/follow. It's not just the cost in money, but also in time. I doubt I'll buy the expansion pass for Scarlet and Violet and I'm definitely NOT shelling out for Arceus just to get access to those mons. I tried using Pokemon Home to trade for what I need, but then Worlds happened, and it's no longer safe to use traded mons.
@jish55
@jish55 5 месяцев назад
But this has sort of always been the case (not necessarily for the best in earlier editions, but still you HAD to buy specific games). Gen 1 locked Vulpix and Bellsprout behind Green (meaning no access to it in america) until yellow was released, and magmar was only available in green. Celebi was only available in Crystal. If you wanted a large chunk of gen 1/2 pokemon in gen 3, you needed Emerald or you needed to get lg/fr. In gen 4, can only get original form giratina in Platinum. To get Kyurem, you needed B2/W2. To get the special kyogre/groudon primal forms, you needed to buy or/as. The specialty forms of Solgaleo/Lunala are only in US/UM. To get the legendaries in sw/sh as well as a large chunk of the pokedex, unlike previous versions forcing you to buy entirely new games, you now only needed to buy dlc, same with s/v. So yeah, this has always been the case with pokemon where in damn near every gen, you needed to buy the third version (meaning you paid double what you do for dlc).

Crystal was at least made before you could just patch a game or add DLC so it has an excuse for coming out separately. They couldn't just patch Gold/Silver and give it to you without making a brand new copy, finding a way to transfer the save between the old and new copies, and make sure every old version was no longer available so people don't mistakenly get that version

I dont really get the arguement....paywall = buying the game/expansion? If you dont buy the game at all you get no access to the competstive scene at all and thats not a paywall its buying the game. Saying you are paying 30 dollars for urshifu is not true either because you still get the whole expansion as a game. And even if you dont value the gsme experience you dont just get 1 urshifu you get infinite amounts of all available pokemon of interest within the game. Its not like just a single pokemon is dlc available for 30 dollars for a one time purchase.
@kikitanda4024
@kikitanda4024 23 дня назад
What? Of course you have to buy the game to play competitively the issue is that required Pokemon for any competitive team are locked behind multiple $30 paywalls ALONG with needing the older games because you can't obtain them in the single $60 game you already bought. It sounds like you didn't get the argument at all.
@kikitanda4024
@kikitanda4024 23 дня назад
And no you don't get "infinite amounts" of Pokemon almost every single Pokemon outside of the new legendary ate garbage in VGC and you can only get 1 DLC Legendary Pokemon per save, which means that if it has crap stats you're screwed.
