As the guy who officially leaked Joy, I have a lot of sympathy. What this should do, no matter the marketing repercussions, is convince players that Year 2 has some substance to it!
I've been a huge Payday fan since the first game, but I'm finding it REALLY hard to come back to 3. I did the $100 preorder and feel like it absolutely wasn't worth it.
That genuinely was what made me stop player after reaching level 100, one day got in and just went "yeah no this is ugly I don't want to play this anymore"
The stealth/loud modifiers are an absolute blessing for me and will make this game playable for me again. I haven't been able to play because of the lack of that feature. I'm a loud player and most lobbies I end up in, everybody wants to stealth. I patiently wait for a stealth fumble to turn loud, only for the whole team to leave. Happens every time. (maybe I just have bad luck but that's been my experience). It's very demoralizing as sometimes I just want to enjoy a loud heist and not worry about stealthing.
I don't really get why people want a scoreboard in darktide. I know vermintide has one but all it kinda does it make people laugh at someone else over their kills.
@@NecromancerBree it gives you some good information to gauge on how good the build you are doing works. with side effects of certain tryhards berating you sometimes of course, just ignore em
I don't think that them showing FWB or the holdout mode was unintentional per se. They even said themselves "one of the payday franchises most iconic challenges will return" or something along those lines, obviously im paraphrasing but you get the idea. Point is that im pretty sure everyone was sure it was going to be FWB and if anything actually seeing that it is just that assures more of the hardcore veteran crowd with thousands of hours that put this game away for the time being.
Exactly. Plus, if you're selling a more complete version of the game the same day of the U.I update wouldn't it be wise to raise some hype so folk have enough time to get their wallets ready?
Almir said on his stream today that by definition of a leak it was unintended by the company, and he called them leaks, so it definitely was unintentional.
@@thewhistler6537 In a sense sure, however for a live service game they want consistent engagement, so they actually want to tease bits of content throughout a given time period, rather than dumping a lot of upcoming stuff all at once. You get a higher spike in engagement, but it will still wane eventually and that's bad for live service. It's possible they also didn't want FWB and Holdout to overshadow the stuff they did want to show, like the Server Browser and new UI. Either way I'm super excited for everything, and am curious how Overdrill will be handled.
Big fan of what we've seen. Crime Net actually seeming to give a specific, set location for heists is AMAZING. It was a tiny thing that really broke immersion when I realised Payday 2 wasn't doing that with Crime Net. Although, hopefully it won't mean we won't be able to see heists at the same location if we ever get a heist worthy if being done twice. And yeah, the new menu overall just looks really damn cool. Yeah it should've launched like that etc etc but it's nice that it's here now. Not entirely fond of the new verticle scroll. Just a personal preference, but I think if they're gonna have images for each, a horizontal display worked better. Either keep the old one, or remove the images (a la Payday 2). But overall they've done a nice job. Very happy to see actual colour on the menus and icons.
The new main menu screen, Crimenet browser and heist completion screens all look fantastic. But I absolutely share your sentiments about the lack of functionality with the inventory systems, and think a lot more could have been done creatively with the shop screens which are still very generic imo, and not the best organised. We have 3 new vendor characters and Gage returning, why can’t we even see these figures? Would make it feel more immersive. It would also be nice if weapon modding and inventory had a safe house esque backdrop as it feels a bit weird to be changing loadouts on a roof.
Really great to see how much the UI has taken a step up. IMO the lobby party is the best part, it makes PD2's lobby screen actually feel underwhelming in comparison
The UI Revamp and Server Browser are so good dude, I feel like I've been dying of thrist in a desert and just found a water cooler. These matter so much for the longevity of the game it's insane. Server browser means no more annoying, slow matchmaking that exhausts players before they even get into a heist. Also the little things like the ui animations go such a long way to make the game just feel that much less soulless. Super excited to finally dive back in on the 30th.
I love it all as well. I play a game called The Finals the main menu is similar, every season they change the background and the menu music. It'd be neat to see them periodically change the background on Payday as well, just to freshen it up from time to time. Not that there is anything wrong with what we have been shown, it was just a thought. Shit, new backgrounds could even renown/challenge unlockables! Who knows! What I do know though, is it all looks great!
@@thewhistler6537 First off it's Mr. C4andSaws himself! Second, you make an interesting point, I'd be down for changing and/or customizable menu backgrounds.
I told myself to give it a year to see what they’re gonna cook up and I will say I am glad. This is what I hoped payday 3 was gonna be and I have hope they will further improve the game. Will most likely get the game next time a sale rolls around now
They will have my heart and soul if they bring back Jakcet as a Jacket main in payday 2, playing Jacket was a good chunk of the fun as I never got sick of the hilarious voice lines. If they also bring back jacket's piece...oh boy...
@@thewhistler6537 that'd be a fun little thing to do too, It'd add just that little extra flavor to heists if we got some tellers in skeleton facepaint
@@captainhydrodus4616 Not sure about other places but here in the states banks will often decorate for the holidays. Paper bats hanging from the ceiling, window art, banners, ect. Typically they do it for Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I just thought it'd be a nice touch, definitely not a priority but when they get to a place where they have a little extra time to work on silly projects then that is one I'd like to see. 🤣🤙
Quite impressed with the UI overhaul. It’s a shame the in-game UI won’t be touched up in this update, but admittedly the menus were in a far worse shape. I just worry the “new” feel the UI will bring might not hit as hard when the heist UI is unchanged. Very much looking forward to year 2 now, and hopefully this update’s launch is as smooth (server wise, anyway) as the last.
I really hope we get some achievements to hunt again. It was among my favourite pasttimes back during the pd2 days and I would hope for that aspect of the game to return
Same, I asked Almir this on one of his streams back when f&g came out and he said they will add more achievements to the game eventually, they just don’t have a date for it
I am so hyped for First World Bank. I hope when it comes it is accompanied by some free weapon inclusions that are also callbacks to Payday 2. What I wouldn't give to get my hands back on my beloved Union or Goliath
I think that the new server browser looks amazing!!! I think now that the best thing SB could do to get more players is to make a new trailer showing off the new look, and highlighting the biggest new features/reworks. As for the twitch drops issue, maybe they could be exclusive for a bit, then dropped into the store for c-stacks?
Im really glad the team is sticking with it. The game is still a bit rough in its current state. But honestly, the actual gameplay is phemomenal. The gunplay feels so good. And this update seems to add some sorely needed polish.
Honestly I'm very glad this ui update is happening. I've been unable to play since payday 3 got removed from gamepass but this is giving me so much hope for the future of the game ready for when i buy the year 1 edition
I think this is one of the more importent OMB updates. Menu asthetics add a lot to the excitement the game provides, and this change is such a massive improvement!
They already fixed most of the UI, and are on their way to fix the armor as well. Now they just need to scrap the rush, grit and edge mechanics, how the skill trees work, and give us funs skills like in pd2. I don't think they will scrap it, since they made more than 100 skills around it, but one can dream.
I sure hope not. They already scrape enough stuff (partly) that made it worth buying it, turning the skills into a PD2 power fantasy again would just be annoying to anyone that bought it for the mechanics in place, I certainly am sick of how PD2 plays after all the years of playing it, especially as I bought it before it became what it is today in terms of gameplay - there's 0 need in just scraping everything again and turning it into an entirely different game once more - if people put trust into a product and pay for it don't rip them off, especially twice otherwise there's 0 trust left. Sure it needs some fixing, (like edge and grit gone with general adjustments) but if anything they should take the too PD2ish skills and nerf them (Ammo funnel, the assassins build that technically allows you to constantly heal yourself unless it bugs out) + work on AI a bit more.
This is great! the weapons and mask menus still feeling a bit eh is unfortunate but all the other stuff looks amazing and I really feel it will have a personal impact that lasts. The fact that now every part of the game feels like some love has been put into (previously only some heists and the animations got that love) wich makes for an overall cleaner package and will make me want to keep looking at it and maybe even play an extra heist or 2 per session.
The new UI looks great compared to what we have now. I AM, however, a little disappointed that in-game UI isn't part of this update, and I hope that they get around to those elements sooner rather than later.
I'm writing this comment to support the video, because I really want as many players as possible to see the game get better. I realize that praising the developers for improvements that should have been on the release of the game might seem strange to some. I don't think it's normal practice to release unready games and fix them within a year. But PAYDAY 3 already came out the way it did. We can't change anything, it's a part of history. PAYDAY 3 is much better now, I'm really enjoying the game, and even some of my friends are coming back to the game. I want as many people as possible to see the game improve and give it a second chance.
As a long time hesiter it really does feel like its time to jump in to pd3, i really hope a new 'social safe' system is planned for all the twitch drops ive missed
Hoenstly, return of Crimenet is a big thing for me. I like sitting through active lobbies for something that sparks my interest. And knowing what build to bring is a massive help for my stealth build to not need anything for loud. Can't wait to see the armor changes proper, and to grab the vtubers I had on launch day to make a return. Hopefully to make a bigger impact than I alone can do!
It would be really cool if for the tactic filter you HAVE to setup as the host if its loud or stealth and not "any" like in payday 2. it was always a pain to search for death sentence lobbies because all were marked as "any" but most people play stealth on this difficulty so i joined 6 stealth lobbies and 1 loud
I'm happy to see that a map-shaped level selector with half of the basic settings PAYDAY 2 had is all it took to make you smile, because when you smile, all of those who weren't let down by the absence of a HUD revamp smile with you, no matter how few.
This is great! I’ve so desperately wanted to play this game again, but its quality made me hesitate to suggest it to friends. I want to enjoy this gem of a franchise with my friends and enjoy their first-time reactions to the special units 😂
Promising. Still quite a ways off from where I’d like it to be but another year with the same update cadence and quality and I think we’re getting there. I’ll at least reinstall to check things out and try the new heists I missed. This game is getting close to a worthy pay day 2 successor, I just hope it lives long enough to realize its potential.
@@RadiantTales_Tv So like the 4 years given to PD2 before it became a solid PDTH successor? Oh wait... it never did as they've chosen to change up the entire gameplay and it took a few more years until the most necessary fixes were made. It already is a solid PD2 successor, even with the junk it is (believe it or not) it's years ahead of PD2s release version - and I sure hope it stays somewhat on its own path as otherwise the game is wasted money if it just becomes a copy cat after the original playerbase is burned out of how PD2 plays after 10 years of playing it. Half the people in my list literally still hold back on getting PD3 because they're afraid that they change up the entire game again (or in other words: Scam) and you end up with a different product than what you bought - especially if it's the formula that just got boring at this point.
Tad bit disappointed that we aren't seeing any changes to the in game UI, but I'm still happy with what we're getting. Certainly a huge step up from the beta design of the previous menu UI. Also them accidentally leaking First World Bank AND a Holdout mode is the most Starbreeze thing they've ever done.
Jacket will make me play the game more, I literally ordered the mask off Amazon yesterday so I can awkwardly stare at people during Halloween. Ofc crime net is gonna be what makes it all feel good, but having my favorite sociopath back is a huge win.
The UI of the menu's was definetly a big reason on why i didn't pick up the game on launch. If and at this point it looks like a when, the loadout screen menu gets an update i'll probably start looking to get the game as it's finally looking like a game with passion behind it and not something quickly slapped together with what really did look like place holder UI
kknowley, as a fellow brit and ex payday 2 player, I am putting my faith in you for the tenner i js spent on the game (it was on sale on ps5) to be worth it 😭😭🙏
That Skull mask goes hard ngl, I am sucker for skull masks from Payday 2, and too bad they didn't add them into Payday 3 but instead they added them as key chains
Man, you can really tell that this game was probably originally intended to be released this year but investors likely forced starbreeze/overkill to release the beta as a full game to try and squeeze money as soon as possible. They are clearly capable of making really awesome stuff. They just needed some time to cook. Imagine how good the game would be now if they weren’t also trying to get the first year’s gold edition DLC out the door at the same time.
On top of listening to the community and following through with Operation Medic Bag. I never lost faith, they are human beings who eat, sleep, and shit just like the rest of us. Quality comes from time, love, and positive vibes. They got this and I'm even more excited for Year 2 knowing they have less to juggle and less pressure in their work environment.
Feels like the version that goes live at the end of this month, along with all of the content/dlc that has been added thus far, is how the game should have launched (with an offline mode). That would have been a good starting point.
i pre ordered payday 3 because of my love of payday 2, i had low expectations to begin with because of there other failed launches, and had stopped playing before the first dlc ever came out this update will actually bring me back i think its finally getting to a state thats playable again
0:37 was my favorite bit of the Dev Update. I don't believe the First World Bank and Holdout mode that was being briefly shown was a 'slip up'. Those types of 'reveals' really hype up communities like the Payday subreddit. Teases like this give us all something to chat about and it's nice to see the community having positive vibes for a change. Finally, not all of us on Xbox have shitty mics. Daddy Chill. 🤣🤙
