@@ShinyLightzInTheSky I'm not entirely sure what version of PD2 you're referring to, but AFAIK both the PS and Xbox versions of PD2 have all the DLC and whatnot available. Both are also fairly cheap depending on where you get them.
I just found our rn ... and im so stupid. i bought it fully, thinking it's gonna be good cuz pd2 was just ... the best So i got the season pass, but i completely forgot it existed
I was really surprised to find he didn't vibe with this as much as most other Partners, but tbh I like that. It offers some varying opinions and that's more fun as a viewer, I'd argue!
That's because RedArcher has this stupid modern ideal of being positive is super important, spoiler it's not, being reasonable and honest is far more important.
I think it's fun having these different opinons and discussing them. One of the issues at launch was that we unanimously got caught up in the hype and so there were no dissenting opions to bounce off!
Pretty convinced the game will only ever be saved once it's got a couple dozen of 5-15 dollars dlcs like payday 2 (ignoring payday 2s actual popularity). Which really pisses me off, I don't want to fucking have to wait this long just to feel like I have to pay an extra 50+ fucking dollars to catch up to date once they get their shit together.
game can’t be saved. STBRZ is already planning on making new live service games and ovk is reportedly a skeleton crew for pd3. game is gonna be shut down next year 100% no doubt
Keep up the good work though KKnowley, I think giving criticism is what's best for the game. I'm glad someone who actually cares is a Starbreeze partner!
It would be a lie to say this game runs smoothly half of the time the servers don’t work when you’re playing PS5 you go to upload your progress to the cloud it’s hours, days behind. Granted this is the only game that doesn’t upload your current progress it’s done this since day one. They rip you off with DLC’s content being mediocre without DLC‘s, but not burning much to the table regardless of what you decide but with this new update if you even want to call it that apparently the servers are down and will be up to eight hours! Basically everything from what I see before playing it is everything is behind a pay wall basically which were talking about a game that doesn’t run smoothly hardly ever did I mention the servers are constantly down!? The last thing I would do at this point praise anybody! Why lie this product we paid for even if you got the basic version is $40. I could only imagine being a person that paid over $100. The game servers are hosted on the worst servers I’ve ever seen. I would argue GTA 5 has been in a better position even when you’re comparing the exploiters on a daily basis, cheaters, being able to not have to grind at all making everybody’s experience that much worse I would argue. It’s a much better experience even before PS5 the days where God mode players were in every session, I would prefer that experience than what shoves down our throat. Once you buy the game, you’re kind of in it for the long run. You will always look to see if it’s got better they trap you they make you wait. I don’t care if I help or not. I know some people put it that way “if you’re a big fan then you will buy DLC’s to help them.” These people at this point should scrap this game and pay everyone back that’s the way I look at it. It’s a disgusting disaster payday 2 from my experience, did it have half of the problems. But of course they threw players in the garbage before payday 3 was ever talked about as we all know.
I feel they've gotten too comfortable in unreal, where as the diesel engine's limited scope forced you to really work for that exciting feeling and get creative to make a memorable experience, unreal is able to replicate that just by existing, but an issue with that is if you rely on unreal being a good engine it can cause a lot of the personality to get lost as you lean more and more on unreal just being a good engine. I think a "perfect" heist with that creativity and set pieces ala big bank and golden grin to really flip negative sentiment could cause a turn over in opinions since the actual level designs are fine and the teams are working well to make something that presents and plays well enough. It just lacks that spark that put those old payday 2 heists into our hearts.
I expect that as soon as the houston breakout mission is added, hoxton's name will be changed to Houston, and Houston will take Hoxton's name, just to fuck with people.
I don't think they would do that, because they did that in PayDay 2 until the reveal of the real Hoxton and it PISSED the Brit off, you don't want a mad British man.
@@GunSpyEnthusiast Not to mention Clover has a line where she nearly slips and calls Hoxton, Houston implying which one they worked around a bit more than the other during their time together in the gang's prime. But given that in the nightmare Prison level for PD2 Dallas's fear is Houstin dying, the fact that Houstin's now being a target for these assassins is making Dallas's fear become a reality, by bring him into the life of the PayDay gang, Dallas now has to protect him from the consequences of that life that are now knocking on their door.
@@cursedhawkins1305 Therefore, rename Houston to Hoxton, and Hoxton to Houston (for the sake of discussion, Hoxton, the one in prison at one point in PD2, will be called pissed Hoxton), so Pissed Hoxton gets targeted instead of Hoxton. I don't know a whole lot about Payday lore, but from what I understand, Dallas could convince Hoxton to switch identities with Houston by telling him something along the lines of " I know you don't exactly like him, I know you might feel like he's trying to be your replacement, But he's just a kid. I don't want you, him, or anyone else, hurt. but if anyone here can handle the kind of heat he's in, it's you. and if anyone here would know that, it'd be me. Come on, Hox, He means a lot to me. " I am not very charismatic or informed on the specifics of either three characters, but I think that might do it.
@@GunSpyEnthusiast No that wouldn't do it because that's ignoring the very foundation for why Hoxton was so pissed off in the first place, Hoxton saw Houston as a REPLACEMENT to him even down to him having his original mask, his original name, EVERYTHING was ripped away from him while he was in jail all the while Dallas, Chains and Wolf who he helped establish the PayDay Gang prior to getting arrested in Hoxton's perspective just upped and let him rot while they found someone to replace him and he saw them as his most closest circle of friends. How would you feel if your own circle did that to you?
I don't see why anyone expected this to be "THE" dlc that was going to course correct everything. This game is still fundamentally living in PD2's shadow. No infamy and no skill tree rework which are my biggest request outside solo play.
PD3 needs a skills rework, gunplay rework and armor rework. What we have so far are band-aids instead. However without that, no amounts of new contents will help the game's health long-term.
How? I mean, they made their best release yet with PD3, but that doesn't mean they somehow skip the years they need to fix the most baseline issues all of sudden. We've seen this once and we'll see it again: It'll be a different game before a lot of things have been fixed - hence why they are soft replacing the armor system (sadly as it's the only reason I bought it, literally grew sick of how PD2 plays) and place in HP reg skills (again...) already (even tho I'm not surprised by it as it's my own stupidity to think they'd spend the time actually refining the gameplay, should've known that they'd rather swap over to a system where they just need to tweak a few numbers and its good to go again).
@@PulzeDevel both honestly. I hate that it feels like they change the reason why people who got sick with 2 bought it (the armor system e.g.) and essentially pull what they did with 2 (turning it into a different styled game) while I'm having a blast playing what we've got for as long as they didn't entirely switch it over yet (and hopefully never will).
It's getting kind of awkward. If I ever show up in any of Elisabeth's streams again, she's going to ask me how hype I am for Clover - and since I'm still hearing I've got better things to do than play Payday 3, that's gonna get a real disappointing answer.
@@jaydeem1264 OK, fine. A name in chat that gets recognised and nothing more. The only takeaway from what I said that really matters to anyone other than myself is that no amount of an excellent return of Clover (and I do hear - and trust - that it's quite excellent) makes up for how Payday 3 suffers so much from becoming rote because of how little variety there is and how little impact that variety truly has.
This seems like a heist that should have been free tbf. Way too small scale, I could have seen this being in the game on release but not as a paid DLC.
maybe im entitled but this just isnt enough imo. We got ONE new heist so far this year. ONE. We should have at least 3 or 4 by this point and even that is still kind of light, again, imo. Even if that number is delusional, one heist at this point is just unacceptable. And the new weapons are in almost every other modern era FPS i can think of, nothing unique. I really want to love this game but this insane lack of content makes it a monumental task.
You're right but keep in mind we should have 3 others heist before september (or the end of september i don't remember) so we'll see by then... But i really don't think they are gonna be more inspired than the heist we got so far. Not that they are fondamentally bad, but it's missing memorable action on the screen, objectives where you feel involved into them and also RGN elements: like spawn points, camera, obj, layouts, random events... And also preplanning... a true preplanning
@@MadWatcher It's good - but who compares it with PD3 directly? That sounds pretty dumb to me honestly as there's entirely different reasons as to why you'd like/play both. Or are we talking about all the people who didn't notice that PD3 was their best release yet (honestly by far better than I and most of my friends realistically expected) and that anyone who played PD2 for a long time knew that it'll take years of fixing up for sometimes even the most baseline issues? Because I usually ignore those people.
@@Unknown_Genius Payday 3 takes itself too seriously and will take years, and way too much cash, to get as good as PD2 ever was. Overkill weapons are stupid, the weapons feel like shite, everything is slow, and as much as I enjoyed the beta, the heists overall are mid.
They need to stop adding useless garbage. Adding random weapons and cosmetics won't fix core gameplay issues. The problem with this game is not with a lack of content. To get me playing again they would have to add heist variation, and a complete perk system overhaul. Just saying, the new perk system is just terrible. Why have unique and specialized builds when everyone can just get there Edge and Grit. This makes everyone functionally the same.
G3 being bland is complete nonsense even from a game design perspective. Even arcade-style gamers easily recognise battle rifles at a glance, they expect them to have damage comparable to the game's semi-automatic offerings with decent rpm but a massive kick; so when adding what is probably the single most recognisable full-power select-fire firearm in all of gaming, why not make it behave as such?
I played Jimmy for the longest time, but I think I've gotten a new appreciation for Chains. Clover... I couldn't tell you why I don't like her. I don't 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 her, not like h3h3, but she's just... missing something? I think?
@@aidengray3998 I like her new voice lines and quips ❤️ I recently played Payday 2 as well so when I heard her say some of her voice lines it literally felt like A call back to the old Payday 2 when she was saying certain lines 🔥❤️ it really shows how much she pays attention to her clover character after so long. I also like how her animation makes her seem a little bit more twitchy given that time has not been nice to her since her time after Bain's death.
I haven’t played since syntax error. And I don’t plan to till a handful more heists drop. While things are looking slightly better with every addition it’s still not enough to pull me back in after the 80+hours I put in at release through syntax
I wont be excited until they put in a server finder for the game. If modders can do it, then the company that gets paid can do it. They can put it in as a "alpha" then a "beta" like theyre doing with the single player. Also i really dont like the skill tree of 3 compared to 2. In 2 i could say im the team medic. When i say get the fuck up, you get up! This just feels like bland, samey skills no matter your build. No one is roleplaying as the medic, or the heavy weapons guy with the ammo and saw. Which how is there a saw in 2 but not 3? Im just around to watch the boat that is starbreeze sink. Im more excited to get any type of news for den of wolves than dlc's for pd3. And thats sad. Ive loved payday since the heist days. I guess it all comes to an end sooner or later.
Thought I would re-install it from GamePass and I'm actually enjoying it, definitely missing the Crimenet map and safehouse but gameplay is smooth. Even picked up the Syntax Error bundle for half price. Won't get this DLC until on offer though
i hinestly feels this needs repeating no amount of new content (taht i have to pay for) will make me come back as the fundamentals of payday3 are flawed and make the game just unfun to play finite recourses are not fun and suck skills rush/grit/edge feel unbelivebly shallow and not at all intresting in the slightest stealth and loud feel overly tweaked to make it more forgiving at the cost of a good challange lvling and growing as a heister is absolutely grindy and boring none of these were even touched upon in operation medic bag and unless overkill even thinks about touching them im doubtful the game will ever survive past 2 years
Is it not a bit late to be adding building blocks... the game has been out coming up to 10 months, and it's still in a truly sad state. Not to mention they're already selling dlc and for some reason that just goes unnoticed? I mean It's still mostly negative on steam
@@heyday1233 People will bitch no matter what they get. Greed is always been a part of human nature. I for one am happy that this game is actually fleshed out unlike payday 2 for console. No missing content and an actually playable game is 1000% better than a game that has had years to flesh out a story. 10 months is not a long time btw. it takes years to make a game and even longer to make it match their position that they want.
@@ShinyLightzInTheSky you realise the irony in saying that greed is a part of human nature when a game was released in an unfinished state for money, surely?
Idk if payday will live another year so idk if its worth buying cuz i want the game to succede but i dont want to throw my money in a game that will be shut down in 2 years haha
It's just more of the same that wasn't very good to start with afaic, so It won't be bringing me out of retirement. It's great to see Clover back, but will it be enough to make a difference?
Thanks for not giving into the stupid hype meme and actually being critical about this. It's annoying seeing people suddenly ignore all the huge issues the game still has just because a single update that isn't horrible came out. Toxic positivity isn't constructive.
(Preface, I'm messing around, here, I love Kknowley) Kknowley: Always saying PD3 is too easy. Also Kknowley when the devs give him a more difficult heist: Complains it's hard/"brutal".
Its just not acceptable how much money they want to charge for most of the improvements. After already charging money for the game which should be free to play with this DLC model.
@@ciphergacha9100 So, I was using RU-vid’s test feature for this. We had 3 thumbnails, they all test for watch time and this one won by about 2%, automatically getting selected. I don’t think it’s the best, but it was the most topical at the time, I suppose
The update imo as a whole I give a 7-8/10 I wanted clover to come back and she’s an amazing character her lines are great she adds new life the map I think is very fun I love the idea of going to a police station a good change of scenery I don’t think this update is a holy grail but I think it’s a good update and good step in the right direction of what I’ve been wanting
I think it’s fun. But maybe I have a little too much patience with the dev team. Few people remember just how little content was in Payday 2 for the first couple years. Now I’m not trying to give them an excuse, I just hold onto hope that they will keep adding content. Instead of giving up.
@@TheKknowleyas negative as you have been. I can believe that. You like many of us just want the game to be good, but Starbreeze has been really bad at inspiring hope.
It feels like the base game is being ignored in favor for dlcs. I dont plan on buying a single dlc until the base game is solid but it isnt. Its hard to put my finger on exactly what is so disappointing about payday 3 but when i think about it, all i wanted was payday 2 with better stealth and better graphics. It feels like they needlessly changed everything and the game feels so soulless.
Yea the heists themself are not very inspired. There is not a lot of heisting action on the screen and the objectives are kinda designed to be boring for a 2024 game. Also it's lacking RNG for most of the element like spawn points, camera, obj, layouts, random events...
@@gavinvannoy5082 People who bought the base game alone had been waiting for the option to upgrade to gold for a while now and are now waiting for a non-insulting price for it. The current "more than the base game" is a seriously insulting price for it. The current "more than actual Gold Edition right this second" is beyond aggravating.
Good! I'd rather people loved this and felt happy with their purchase. Just because I personally wouldn't doesn't mean everyone else should feel the same way.
I've completely written off Payday 3 and am pretty convinced Overkill is going to shut it's doors for good within the next few months; but I do still hope they can turn things around. I just know I'm not going to be one of the people who will helps them climb up from their 3 digit average player base.
Just wanna say Kknowley, I've seen you get some backlash from how you've both criticised the game and also still retain some hope that the game can revive. I appreciate that you carry such a balanced opinion, most ppl are either dead game or were so back. You're such a good content creator and basically a journalist at this point
I will say, LOOKING at the gameplay reminds me of PAYDAY a lot.. so that's good. Maybe this is just the Armored Transport of PD3, a kind of lukewarm starter DLC.
Can't wait for Starbreeze/OVK to put out a solemn JPEG on Twitter or their blog expressing their "sincere regret" over shutting down PD3's "LiVe sErViCe" side.
Honestly for 16 dollars like I'm good I can wait a bit to grab it, clover isn't who I wanted so I don't quite care. As a gold edition holder I'm sick of forking over money for a game and company that fucked me in the beginning for something that won't be super worth it, I was excited at first but having gotten no real things for gold edition on console aside from a couple masks a set of gloves and a suit, it's some actual bullshit and I'm tired of it
Now that's not to say I won't buy the update at some point because I want to fight though a cop station just at this moment it still seems like a payment that just isn't worth it
It’s very difficult to maintain positivity for Payday 3s future. I played Payday 2 on console and stuck with the devs through the lack of content and bug fixes and even through the botched launch with PS5 after preordering gold edition. Just disappointing.
Yea boys in blue dlc was super underwhelming for as long as we waited for operation medic bag smh i played it 1 time with my brother and we passed it and then closed game and started playing crime boss rockay city...cant believe im having more fun playing rockay city
@@Leire788 Well yes, but my favorite is Jacket. I think choosing to kill off all the characters was a silly idea though. I have a feeling that they did that to have story elements to bring them back.
@@Undead_Beholder the crossover characters such as Jacket, Scarface and especially H3H3 were killed off because they couldn't bring them back. Licensing and all that
As someone who primarily plays mask off, ah yes, this weapon pack is the primary form of content for the DLC. Tbh I love the heist, much better than syntax error.
Honestly this is exactly the response I was expecting. It's good, not great. Payday 3 still needs work and Starbreeze needs to be a little more ambitious with their DLC maps. Honestly I'll take anything that moves the game in a good direction. Now if they can just get rid of Edge/Grit/Rush and the micromanagement based skills...
I respect that you are so honest. When the game was first coming out i was worried theyd paid you to make it sound amazing when it released. Shoulda known youd never sell out
