Okay but is not luck, is all about having good investment plans most of all trading with a trust worthy expert. Watching professional trading videos and most especially connecting with the right person the digital world is full of in unreal people I met some of them during my success journey. I felt same way when I started especially when you use demo account you might be winning but when you put in real money you start losing I understand and I pass through it all. Also, Being of age and how to manage the sequence of returns in those early periods is what seems quite scary in the current market. The market is never a loser in the twenty year cycle, but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement. When you're no longer accumulating but withdrawing, it's hard to be anything but cautious.

Good point seeing as an estimated 3-5% (closer to 2-3% in Dec '21) of world population owns crypto. To grow to 1B in a year would be amazing! However, with the current state of things, that growth might be a low estimate as economies around the world, especially the US/USD, continues to debase, etc. as have been and continues worsening.

Also i'd recommend seeking a proven fiduciary Financial-Advisor who will guide, and show you the ropes as you are just starting out. "Brenda Gay Mclean" check her out she has been around for a while. I've accrued north of 90k in Q1 of 2022 as raw profits with her help.

@@kansasmile I did it. Put 100k in in 2018 (at 7k)..... sold the original stake at 67k. The free stack is nice to look at now. It was down a lot and often. You buy, hold and hang on. Its not easy but it always comes good. Stay away from meme and shitcoins

These kinds of speeches are a bit like political speeches, mainly for show - "X is the enemy, we must stop them, etc." (Literally said by Peter in a different conversation to mock politics, but he too is getting into politics). I was confused a bit by this too. I think maybe he meant like this: you own a stock worth $100. In ten years the company doesn’t grow in fundamentals (earning/assets/etc) but during that time there’s say total 100% inflation. Your stock now trades at (and will be taxed at) $200. If you sell you will be taxed on $100 gains but really the value/purchasing power of your now $200 is just the same as it was 10 years ago before inflation. You get a big tax bill but no real gains in increased quality of life out of it. Therefore you lost value, which is to say over 100% effective rate. Does that seem like a reasonable explanation? (Legitimately asking as I’m not sure if I understood/applied it correctly)
I think this interpretation is supported when he says “you don’t set the basis… don’t adjust it to inflation.” In the hypothetical scenario I gave, that would be like adjusting your basis (what you bought it at) to match inflation so you’d not have any tax upon selling. If they did this and the company grew by, say, $50 in value due to fundamentals and $100 due to inflation (bought at $100 and grew to $250), they’d adjust the basis to be $200 and you’d only pay on the actual gains of $50.
Because you get taxed on non-existent gains that are only there due to inflation. Let’s say inflation was very high and got up to 50%. You buy one share or stock X for $100, and it goes up to $150 in a year and then to $225 after two years, then $337.50 after three years and then $506.25 after four years. You sell the stock and now you owe capital gains taxes on the $406.25 of gains. Except because the stock rose the same amount as inflation you’re paying an infinity percent true tax because your actual gain accounting for inflation is 0%. You didn’t actually gain any value, the dollars just became more worthless.

I< have mixed feelings of more government involvement. The whole point of cryptocurrency was to be decentralized and yet we have an exchange and now regulations. Sadly, Paypal will punish you for using them to transfer fiat into the crypto world. Coinbase has a $25k limit to send/receive from Paypal. Paypal customer support says if you try sending to them or withdrawing from them that amount you will get your Paypal account frozen for an indefinite period. Coinbase also triggers transfers of crypto from their site to other sites dependent on frequency and amount and will freeze your account for a week and stop you from doing it.
There are also some advantages of paper money. You don‘t need electricity (think of blackout and cyberattacks). It‘s not traceable what you buy. It preserves you from negative interest rates on you bank account.
