I wonder if you realize how brave it is to put your matches -- and your entire journey - on display for the public to follow. I'd think it would be nerve-wrecking enough to simply compete. But, to boldly invite an entire world of internet peeps to watch you is something to admire. I have two kids that are pretty good atthletes, but my youngest, my daughter (11) especially loves to watch you - we both watch you a lot. Keep on grinding. You are a terrific and I love your dedication. Hell, I'm not just a fan b/c my kids found you - I am a fan! :) Keep up the great work and thank you for all your editing and great vids!
I bowled in that house years ago when it was Carolier Lanes. You struggled through those patterns and I felt your frustration. That's not an easy house score wise. I am re-living my younger days watching you! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us!
Oh man the HP on that Attention Star is great. You can see when you make a smoother release and you follow through more naturally its on song, almost always a strike (If placed correctly). Ha I am an older player than you, and I love watching you play, it really helps with my game. So thanks for publishing all this it means a lot. I wish at my bowling centre they had control of oil patterns etc. Its a lottery each week.... :p What I'll end with is this, after watching you play, I would much rather be on your team, than against you. 😜
your release is definitely evolving, that Bill O'neil pattern looked tough. Don't be afraid to switch balls early if your look isn't good. keep up the great bowling!!!
Used to be in a bowling league and it was so much fun. It’s like pool and golf, a game of practice. Just discovered your channel. Will be watching. Good luck to you……
This video is a good one to watch. It shows anybody new to the sport just how important spare shooting is and how it can be enough to get you advanced in a tournament when breakdown and carry down is happing and it's really affecting your line. Toward the end of the video, that pattern was definitely a tough one to work through, with some serious carry down in spots. But some really impressive spare shooting kept her alive while she worked on figuring it out.
The struggle was real! I'm surprised you didn't play up the 5 board and avoid some if that heavy oil in the middle. You needed to add a lot of surface to your equipment to play in that much oil.
You're looking good, don't be afraid to move right and throw straighter, it looks like you're trying to overpower the lanes, I've bowled in some PBA regional tours with this similar pattern and it gets frustrating, stay strong and focused you'll eventually get there, best of luck
Great experience to learn from I’m sure! The only big difference I see shot to shot is the difference in where your hand/fingers are. Sometimes fingers behind the ball rolling it and sometimes a bit more around it. You post your shots and make your spares you have a great foundation I’m sure the rest will come with time and experience keep up the good work!
You're a great bowler. Keep it up. I used to bowl, and I know when it is a tournament like now, you feel all the pressure. Just relax and stay focused. Good luck. You're not only a good bowler but a beautiful lady.
Great that you didn't give up, & you hung in there & improved in the process, I know you had to be tired after 5 games, was wondering, does your thumb location help with hooking the ball? Do you feel that certain balls are better for different oil patterns?👍
You are a fast talker 😄 I gotta say, whoever does all your camera/tech/editing does a A+ job. The graphics are always on point with the details - from the ball you’re throwing, to the score, game #, etc. Also the camera angles are great. Editing is excellent too, it keeps a great pace and flow going from shot to shot. This is top notch work for bowling tournament vlog content.
The spare at 5:19. Good shot. Those are the shots that win matches. When I could see the lanes of the other bowlers it looked like everyone was really having to work for every pin. You seem to love every second you're out there, even on a challenging day. Hang on to that. It will have a nice payoff one day.
You will have to learn to play 5 board and out on these short patterns. Otherwise you’re just bowling on flat oil. Watch lefty PWBA bowler Shannon Pluhowsky, she’s great at playing on the gutter. Good luck!
In the first 5 game set, why do you think the ball wasn't carrying very well? It seemed like there were quite a few good balls that left ringing 10 pins. Too light? Good video and keep up the grind!!
You have so many time to progress. We are not program like a bot to score every time. Bowling look like real life. We need some mistakes to progress and work step by step 🙃. Never give up 💪 Hello from France
Ball knowledge is good. If you can, add where the dot is, along with finger holes. I will add this (from an old pro). Throw straight at (most) spares using a plastic ball. This way you don't have to worry about the oil pattern. For instance, trying to get over the center hump of oil when hooking the ball from right to left at spares. (exceptions: 1, 3, 2, 5, 8,9 pins where you use strike ball with a slight change in speed). Take notes on the different patterns regarding oil carry down. Often times, moving a bit to the right on the approach, and aiming a board right of your first mark (keeping the same breaking point) will end 10 pins, and light pocket hits. Other patterns you will move left on approach either staying at the first mark or moving slightly right. Finally, on the approach. Use a mark, where you walk straight down the approach toward your first mark on the lane. Tracking left on the approach and then tossing the ball to the right is difficult to do and be consistently accurate. Not just with hitting marks but also with ball speed and amount of lift. Finally, invest in some light free weights (5 and 10 lb) to do arm curls and presses. As well as core exercises. Its amazing how this will increase your lift power as well as accuracy. Fewer dropped balls as well. Especially on days when you bowl 10 to 12 games. Also, use the light weights for a warm up (not a full work out) just before bowling. Slowly move up in weights as you're comfortable. This will also decrease injuries, and keep tendons/ligaments in good condition.
I've actually bowled in that place in NJ LOL.. I remember because I threw my all time high score there, they had really clean balls and lanes so it had great grip... You have great form but have u tried using a heavier ball? Maybe start doing little workouts to strengthen abs/core, quads and calves, then finger strength exercises, and maybe go 1-2 pounds heavier... u may be rewarded more for those throws that are resulting in 1-2 pin standing
Malia Briggs, That was a fantastic Vlog Video of the Pba Junior Tournament U18 Girls Division in North Brunswick, New Jersey. Also, Congratulations on finishing in 7th place that earned you $100. Also, Keep up the good work on the Bowling Vlog Videos that you upload on RU-vid.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
You should experiment using your straight ball for some of your spares and take the hook out of play. This will increase your spare game percentages and average quickly. Keep up the good work.
Good job keeping your hand behind the ball and great form. Try laying the ball onto the lane instead of projecting the ball onto the lane to prevent jerking or hitting up on the ball. Do not be afraid to move left and try 25-15-10 or 30-20-10 shape.❤
Malia, some of those patterns make the hair on the back of my neck stand up, especially when they start to break and carry down. It looks like you prefer a drier back end to make your hook bite. Sub'd, pulling for you, your bank account and your trophy room!
Keep up the good videos. You’re much better than I am very interesting. Arsenal too. I really love about your form is you’re just consistent and you make everything look easy. I wish I could be better with my technique. The enterity pi looks in between the harsh reality and the attention star. For me the way I look at it down the lane as a viewer. It looks a little too clean for an asymmetrical ball. The attention star really looks like a good pearl. In my opinion, you look the best and performed the best with the harsh reality. It’s that strong asymmetrical solid it just lines up at your game.l
Those conditions looked brutal......definitely no fun to end up tweaking your spot so much, and pin carry looked very weak as well......hope whenever your next tournament is, that it goes better for you.......God Bless Always......
I saw you said you want to bowl in college, can you get a sports scholarship for bowling? Ignorant Uk'er here haha!! Good to see someone enjoying their passion thats not a common one, at least here! I do archery myself :)
I give you credit for posting your games. IMO looks like too much ball for the scoring condition. When going wide sometimes its hard to make it back and if it does great but might leave some 10 pins. I don't know what your average is but keep trying as persistence pays off. Consult your coaches in regards to the lowering of the body on the release. Good luck.
As soon as the ball started not making it back from the friction in practice, you gotta resurface it down about 1k, unsure of rules of that particular tournament if that was allowed, but at least next time you know, that ball you came out with in practice 1k lower woulda been sweet. Also moving back would have helped.
i do have one question and this is coming from a average bowler. In the first block when you threw your harsh reality and drilled the pocket what made u not change to that ball. Just looking for advice in the future for myself
I know it can be distracting looking at the screen shooting “selfie” videos, eventually you’ll get used to looking at the lens for those shots. It takes time and experience 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
