Quick history you should have added it is all according to where you live, that saying of Brooklyn started in New Jersey, and for bowlers like myself who lived on the Island, Long Island, we called them Jersey shots. This was due to that you had to cross over the bridge to get to either destination from the other.
I'm a righty 2 handed bowler and I would hate to shoot at a 3-9 since that means I crossed over and now have to hit a double wood on the right side of the lane doesn't happen often though
Congratulations on the draft! Love the challenge videos- keep them coming. I personally hate the 2-8-10 as a righty, although 3-6-10 just feels worse since it is so much more doable.
My goal in life is to one day throw a Brooklyn 300. In high school I bowled in a center that frequently didn't oil properly and sometimes it was easier to consistently hit a Brooklyn than to hit the pocket. I think the most I got was 6 in a row.
I got here searching full time Brooklyn lol. Last week I could not throw the pocket consistently but Brooklyn easy. I'm like anyone do this intentionally "professionally"?
My least favorite spare is the 7 pin--and I'm right handed! BTW--I lost a DougieeVision match when my opponent went Brooklyn (or Jersey as we say in NY) three times.
I like this intro better than just showing clips of what we’re about to see 3-6-10 is my least favorite spare because it should be so easy, but you will find every possible way to miss it. Also, hahahahahahaha the direct look at JR😂😂😂
I’ve been bowling since ‘66. As the pins get worn on the bottom, that angle decreases. But from my early beginnings as a junior bowler workin with a great coach, the late Bob Blackley in Sacramento who had me averaging in the 190s when I was 18, he told those of us he worked with in depth, the lean angle for a pin to fall is only 7°-7.5° And my least favorite spare is the Greek Church, 4-6-7-9-10. I did pick it up once in ‘89 by sliding the 4 into the 9-10 and it then rolled forward to take out the 6.
The 2-5 is probably my least favorite. I hate everything left of the headpin, which as a right hander may not be that common, but I've hooked at all my left side spares all my life, but since I recently started throwing on sport shot I realized how useless that was.
Of so called makable spares my least favorite is the 7 pin. Unless I’m bowling lefty in which case I hate the 10 pin, but then again I hate all spare leaves lefty. If you include splits and washouts it would be the 4-6. It’s got just enough room between the pin and the gutter that it’s possible to slide one into the other, but the odds of me doing that are 1000 to 1. I threw an eight bagger once where 7 of the 8 strikes were Brooklyn.
umm, I hate shooting at ALL spares, bwahaha. But least favorites are 2-4-5, the bucket, or the 10 pin. Seem to chop the 2-4-5 (or bucket) a lot and miss barely left a lot on 10 pins.
90% of my strikes are Brooklyn. Seriously. I think she is beautiful. People complain about it I think it's hilarious 😂. Pockets usually gives me 10 pins or something with the 7 pin. Which make harder spare If I bowl for Brooklyn she's usually clean strike or like a 5 pin easy spares. Just makes since to bowl Brooklyn to me
I can't understand why everyone these days calls this a "Brooklyn". It used to be called a "Jersey". If you look at a map of Manhattan, where the term originated, Jersey is to the west (left) and Brooklyn is to the east(right). So if you crossed over to the left of the head pin, you were said to be going "Jersey". Somewhere over time , this has become reversed. Us old timers still call it a "Jersey". NOTE: Of course this only applies to right handers. Lefties? I don't know.
Double wood (3-9 for me) is probably my least favorite, because I don't like hooking at any spares, and for this one I basically have to. I tend to get way too soft or send it too wide (I'm a bowler who alternates from no thumb to thumb).
The 5 10 or 57 is the most ridiculous spare that I can't get, and also because nobody could bellieve that I left it in a court of law. And they have to see it to believe it, or they won't believe it. It's just like Judy Jakes always says "Do you want to look foolish in front of a million people. And any court would see it as contempt of court or not trying at all. However it's always fun to convert it though.
It's funny that I yelled out 8° right before you did in the video. I just switched to two-handed and I just bought but haven't drilled a new spare ball. I got to radical the spy.
If you could make the 8 degree in a bowling Jersey I'd buy. I need a good Jersey that describes my pain more than a bowling brand. but upon googling the true answer is actually 11 degrees
I am the 667th like, had to get you off of 666! Good luck to you and all house members in pba league! Great to see Keven get picked up, he needs to do his shimmy when he strikes at bayside
i would buy a 8 degree pin leaning shirt!....i shot a 300 game with 8 brooklyn strikes...guys on my team tried to get me to order my ring with the diamond mounted on the left side of the ring!
Is that waving the arm back and forth like that really needed and when she was gimping the back leg? I see that a lot. I like the gentleman's form where he is lifting the leg that seems much more natural. I think a lot of people just copycat a style that I am sure is not needed. I guess what I am asking is her style really all that beneficial as it seems unnatural
When I do a 9 pin shot I either throw it the same I do with a 10 pin just slower, or I move 2 boards to the right than my normal 10 pin shot. I miss more 9 pins than 10 pins.
Missed a 3-6-10 pickup in the 10th as an anchor for the league championship....so I've never forgot that spare everytime I leave it...average was 198 at the time
I played our league championship, and still have nightmares about my game. I left at least 2 splits per game. The 3-7 kept getting me. Of course I was also bowling with a separated shoulder that also kept dislocating.
In high school we'd leave 10 pins so much that we would say fucking ten pin. But you can't swear during matches so we swapped the letters and said tucking fen pin. I still say it to this day
Explanation as to what a 'brooklyn' is? The only 'brooklyn' I have heard of is some part of a city called New York in America where generally everyone gets shot.....
The first thing wrong about this is Packy always hits the pins on the Brooklyn side being a left hander. What he really means is Madison needs to go Brooklyn and Packy needs to go Jersey. A Crossover competition.
