PBV Opening Logos - MGM/UA, Star, Embassy, Australian, Playaround & Muppet Home Video

Presenting a PBV (Publishing and Broadcasting Video) "rotating block" style opening logo sequence, featuring home video labels it distributed throughout Australia and New Zealand around the mid 1980s. Individuals logos then follow on from it EXCEPT for 'Film World Festival', which I have never seen released in these countries.
The video is as follows:

* Muppet Home Video Logo [just prior to movie - note that it follows on very quickly from the one before it in this video. It looks like it is one logo, but it is not]

* MGM / UA Home Video Opening Logo
* MGM / UA Home Video Opening Logo [with trailer and promo sequenc
PBV was owned at the time by a company called Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL).
These logos were derived from the following Australian home video releases:
* Final Exam (PBV)
* The Executioner's Song (Star Video)
* Prom Night & The Howling (Embassy Home Entertainment)
* Hoodwink (Australian Video - both)
* Candy Candy / Little Lulu (Storytime Collection)
* Slaughter in San Francisco (Playaround Video - both)
* The Frog Prince (Muppet Home Video - first two)
* The Dark Crystal (Muppet Home Video - third one)
* Endangered Species (MGM / UA - first. Forgot where I got the second promo one)

2:29 The 1982 MGM/UA Home Video logo was seen on the 1985 VHS of "Gone With the Wind", which my grandmother owns.

I have a Wild Mass Guessing about the Muppet logo: I read Jim Henson (I'm assuming Jim Henson played Kermit on the logo) was fond of ad-libbing with his Muppets, especially on rehearsals, so I think that the logo from the nodding onwards is just Henson fooling around, and when Kermit moves his head and lips slightly at the end it's just Henson indicating the cameramen to "cut it off already" through Kermit. Yes, I have SO little work... XD

In 1984, PBV changed its name to CEL Entertainment.

Still have a vhs with the Muppet home video stuff. It's a video with 2 eps of Muppet Babies. Got it when my sister was born back in 1986 so you can guess the age of it ;)

Correct. The "Waltzing Matilda" song was the Australian national anthem.

Don't know why, but the end of the Muppet Home Video logo where it's just Kermit and the "H O M E V I D E O" text is somewhat unnerving.

I wonder if Disney bought Muppet Home Video and Jim Henson Video if they had ownership of the muppets franchise if they still do work with the muppets if they had new projects in the works

Someone told me what it was once but I forgotten the title. Sorry! Hopefully someone can answer. I know it was the same music used on the Press Your Luck game show.

It was "Flash" by Keith Mansfield, and it was only used on the 1983 pilot of PYL (the series used a soundalike theme composed by Lee Ringuette).

@@TimothyMischka "Flash" would also be used in the Aussie Thorn-EMI logo... as well as the logo for IVS in Spain. Speaking of game shows, Belgium's version of Card Sharks/Play Your Cards Right, Hoger, Lager, would use that very piece of music as its theme tune.
