PBY5 Catalina for Dutch Navy 

Y-38 and Y-39 were the first two MLD PBYs to depart San Diego for the East Indies. I believe this footage is of Y-38. There are no obvious hull numbers, but at the 3:30 - 3:35 mark, the ID "38" appears to be stamped on the hull immediately under the starboard wing strut.

I think music and film footage fit perfectly together here. The music stresses the whole situation: The Dutch East Indies were hurrying to strengthen its forces now that the motherland The Netherlands was occupied by the Germans. They were buying whatever military equipment they still could get. The opposing Japanese forces were so much more stronger. We were basically a colonial force with many men but too little equipment when it came down to aircraft and ships.,
