I am the father of Jeff and have just come across this video while sitting here in the USA where I live, remembering my son on the 24th anniversary of his death. Hardly a day passes, even after 24 years, that he is not remembered. Thankyou for a very moving respectful video, very much appreciated.

Hi Barry, thank you for your comment. I try to give the best representation that I can. I’m so sorry for your loss and that your family had to go through such a tragedy. I’ve also covered Keith Blakelock and plan on covering more officers that lost their lives in the line of duty. Wishing you and your family all the best. Kind Regards Paul.

How can someone get only seven years for murdering a human being?!? And, this lowlife (with previous criminal behaviour...) who clearly had no regard for anyone but himself, gets to live and walk amongst us... My heart aches for this young police officer that lost his life so senselessly, and the loved ones that he left behind.

I agree with you one hundred percent he should have got a life sentence at least a life for a life . Pc Jeffrey tooley 's family are serving there own life sentence you could say without a loved family member.

@@davidgillies5342 very true I agree with totally but I myself feel that the law is too soft .. seven years for murder what kind of a sentence is that ... ???
@lena-mariaglouis-charles7036

@@sharonlongfellow6064 I couldn't agree with You more... Anyone that loses a loved one at the hand of another (be it intentional murder by car, gun, knife, manual strangulation, or other methods...), will have to live with it until they take their last breath in this world. What makes my blood boil just as easily, is that someone getting a "life sentence" doesn't even mean they'll spend the rest of their life in prison. As soon as they get locked up, the countdown to get out begins... With "good behaviour" they'll be out in no time at all - and since they only care about themselves (and undoubtedly, instant gratification at any cost...), they'll go on to destroy more innocent lives, once they're out. Intentional murder should equal imprisonment for the rest of that person's natural life span. And, the only way out would then be in a wooden box.

This case reminds me of a case about the same time of a young police man who was deliberately run over and sustained multiple fractures and a serious head injury, I was working as part of the orthopaedic physiotherapy team and that was hard work, mostly because of the head injury, that police man who was only 23/24 was never the same again. In the hospital I worked in a ward sister was stabbed while on duty and she survived because she was just moments away from the general theater with a full team that just swung into action. No one should go to work and not be as safe as you can be.

Thanks for covering this story. I was a Paramedic in Brighton in the 90s and I remember Jeff was good friends with one of my colleagues Joe. Jeff & his colleagues used to pop in to the ambulance station on Elm Grove often for a cup of coffee when we were all on nights. He was a lovely guy and his death hit alot of us quite hard......more so because he was just doing his job and paid the ultimate price! Thanks for doing this video and making people aware of Jeff & the dangers these officers face just trying to do their jobs! 10 years ago PC Ian Dibell, a local officer in the area of Clacton on sea Essex, where I work, was shot and killed while off duty after man was being threatened by another man with gun. PC Dibell had tried to intervene but was subsequently shot and died. I remember that day so well. The area went into lockdown after the murderer went on the run. My work place was a couple of miles down the road but it was still a very scary time.

Thanks for another great video , but a sad one . I work in the Emergency services as well in two jobs , one of which is in the NHS . I watch quite a few videos from auditors and on quite a few there is interaction with the police and the amount of anti police comments are very sad and I generally think most people passing comment are anti police because they have been caught breaking the law . You are so right when you say that we might moan about the police , but we still turn to them to help us when we are in danger .
@charlottetaylor4471
@charlottetaylor4471 2 года назад
No disrespect aimed at the young man featured in the video, but there are a lot of corrupt, criminal and immoral police officers around these days. There's a big spreadsheet with the names of all the serving police officers who have committed crimes, including sexual offences and worst of all, sexual offences involving children. The number of police officers involved is too big for it to be classed as an "anomaly" or "just a one off". The job attracts people who crave power over others.

Heart-breaking! Thank you for remembering PC Tooley. It's very hard to be upbeat when you hear his story as we all hope to live happy long lives. Many of the other famous people's graves you visit, have lived long successful lives (not always though of course). I know it was a terrible accident but 7 years does seem too low a sentence for someone who fled the scene knowing full well what he did.

This is so sad. No sentence would bring him back but 7 years is an insult to him and his family. 2 members of my family were killed by a drunk driver on their Silver Wedding Anniversary in 2008 in Alicante. The driver was released on bail and has never been seen again. The courts were going for 4 years in prison, 5 year ban and £60,000 for the family from the driver which he didn’t have anyway. The entire family said they wouldn’t touch a single penny of his money because it was blood money. I feel for this young man’s family at such a truly tragic waste of a promising life. Thanks fir covering this one. Too many have horrible things to say about the police but as you said the minute they need help they ring them. On another note, have you thought about doing Georgie Bests grave? Thank you. X

Yes I agree. Not all police are bad. There are many good ones out there in every force just trying their best to do a difficult job. We only hear about the bad ones. It’s so easy to ‘tar them all with the same brush’ which is wrong in any situation. We need our Uk Police every day and should respect them more.

R.I.P. Jeff Tooley, I'm with you Paul with what you say about the emergency services, you should go to work knowing you'll be going home at the end of the day.
