2:01:25 I love how it doesn't play the usual map music here, it immediately gives you the thought "wait, something's not right" before you realize what's happened next. I don't know if it was a bug or if the developers did this deliberately, but it works so well.
I remember trying to record the music of this onto a cassette so I could play it in my bedroom. I took the game box and all the paperwork with me to school when I was a fourth grader. I would pour over it looking for hints. Even now, as I play other games, my point-and-click background comes back and I want to explore/pick up everything I can. :)
I'm so happy that I have somehow avoided this ending until today. In the year 2001 I completed MI4, then in 2006 - MI 1 and began playing MI 2, but somehow never finished it, completed about 80% of it. In 2010 - the Tales of Monkey Island and then finally in 2013 I caught up on Monkey Island 3 - also completed it. Today I watched an interview with Ron Gilbert where he goes on about this ending. It's simply amazing that I had avoided this fourth-wall-breaking ending that could spoil it all for me.
Three years late, but breaking the 4th wall isn't exclusive to the end of MI2. The "never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game" in MI1 comes to mind. I can't think of other examples right now, but my impression is the 4th wall is no secret to the MI universe. That said, the ending seems kind of cheap and I dream of a Monkey Island 3b from Gilbert himself, to put things straight.
Yeah same, I was kinda disappointed, but after realizing that it is a spell casted on Guybrush from LeChuck, it makes more sense. LeChuck was defeated, with a ripped off arm and leg, so he asks Guybrush to come closer and that is the moment he manages to cast a spell on Guybrush, withouth him realizing. It is understandable by the lighthings coming out of little Chuck and also by Elaine after the ending credits. Anyway, a masterpiece, this game is epic in so many ways, every single scene is a pleasure and a work of art.
So, sometime in between the completely nonsensical ending of this game and the beginning of Monkey Island 3. Guybrush managed to break out of LeChuck's curse. Escape Big Whoop and end up lost at sea in a dodgem car. Were the writers high when they wrote this?
So Guybrush must have changed his undies at some point between 10:20 and 1:07:36 ? Maybe those nice boxers came with his costume? Which begs the question, Did he change back into his tightie whities in the woods? :)
@kylekadduide He shows you two hand signs. The answer is whatever he holds up the first time. So if he says, 'if this is one' *holds up five fingers* 'then what's this?' whatever number of fingers he holds up, it's five. Watch the video here with that in mind and you'll see.

I don't get it. The NYY won the 1956 World Series, not Chicago, so it's wrong (Baseball). Italy did win the world cup in 1982, so it's correct. What's the joke here? Or just random facts without deeper meaning?
Love this game,and the secret of monkey island...going to buy the special edition which has the 2 games and at the click of a button you can go between the retro version or the updated one...
Actually, Aldwin Panny you may have a point. At 13:10, Guybrush says Cheese Squigglies are his favorite. It also happens that Cheese Squigglies are Putt Putt's and Pajama Sam's favorite too.
