Bought a USB adapter for my Dualshock 2 controllers so I could use them for PCSX2. I couldn't get it to work, but after noticing that my computer was recognizing it as a PS3 controller, I came here. Pleased to report this method worked!
@@maskednil Probably depends on the adapter. If you got the blue dual adapter, it will get detected as "Twin USB Joystick" in the joy.cpl window but if you have the black singular adapter it will get detected as "PS3 Controller" since that USB adapter works if you plug the PS2 controller in the PS3 console.
Thank you for this tutorial. I have this setup on my PC at home and had reverted to an older PCSX2 1.7 build for the pressure sensitive buttons. Tonight I’m dragging that file into PCSX2 and trying out the sensitivity buttons with MGS2. Let’s go!
thank you so much for this!! emulating pressure buttons has always been a pain, I've tried everthing even down to getting a blissbox and still nothing, this guide worked flawlessly 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for this top quality tutorial. It’s straight and to the point with no extra crap, ads or attempts to sell me something less than a minute into the video
Thank you SO MUCH my fren. Your explanation was extremely clear and spot on 🤓!!! i can finally play MGS3 on the Nightly build of PCSX2 with a PS3 controller (i could not play t without the pressure sensitive buttons lol) Thanks again :)!
I used your PSCX2 video and now this one. I dont know why this isnt at the top of the recomended when you search for it. atleast for me. Gained a sub. I CAN FINALLY PLAY MGS again.
I was looking to use DS4 with PC because I'm trying to "modernize" the Gran Turismo 4 in 2023 and I liked this tutorial so much, I will follow it to use DS3!!!! Great video!
Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial on this topic. Your definitely getting a subscribe and like. I'am now gonna go play MGS2 Substance. Awesome job man!
I never saw the inf file, and when i right clicked on it ((ive tried every file)) the option to install never showed up, even when i expanded the properties. Is there any work around to this? edit: I installed it through device manager, and it says it cant be run because the file is damaged.
hmmm it works but the pressure sensitive face buttons aren't working. Tried the bouncer and the face buttons dont read the sensitivity I followed the guide perfectly. Not sure what I am missing on pcsx2
Excellent guide, but I do have a question that I have not seen answered where I looked, if you use this unsigned driver, and plan to use the controller via Bluetooth, will it take over the bluetooth stack and not let you use other bluetooth devices? I remember many years ago, around 2012 or 2013, the only way to use the Sixaxis and DS3 controllers, was with motioninjoy which also used an unsigned driver, and that would actually do that, and it was pretty messy to deal with, since you had to commit a USB bluetooth stack.
thanks for making this video plenty of people are using pcsx2 to play the socom games online on a fan revived server this video will be a really usefull tool to help new members get set up
Pro tip, it will not say .inf on Windows 10 in regards to the files he talks about installing at about 3:45. It says "setup information" in the files besides the installation files necessary for everything to run properly.
Thanks bro! My problem was that I was using some random dll_3 from somewhere else. Didnt know i had to retrieve it from DsHid! I needed this for the nightly pcsx2 since ive been using that as of late for the achievements. I just haven't used a pressure sensitive game till tonight when i was attempting to play Mad Maestro. Also, I've already knew how to do it for the ps3 emulator including the blu tooth thing since last year when i got into ps3 emulation. It's a shame i had to buy a ps3 controller a few years back (yes, it genuine) since my 3 other controllers have certain malfunctions. Will try to fix em later on.
When I put on a game everything goes crazy, like a bunch of buttons are being pressed at the same time. When I go to mapping and try to manually map buttons as soon as I click the mouse to map a button something automatically gets selected. I’ve tried this with two controllers. Any help?
having an issue where rpcs3 shows that duelshock 3 is there and the anolog/ triggers seem to show their value; however whenever I would boot up MGS Hd collection, the game does not respond while on the game select menu. Also want to add that PCsx2 does work well, with some hickups at time.
Everything works except the only with bluetooth connection. I already downloaded the bluetooth driver and restarterd my pc. it shows up for 1 second and then it registered again with no compatible devices found. Also when i try to connect with bluetooth i press the ps button but nothing happens
When the DualShock 3 controller has been paired to DsHidMini, can the controller be detected wirelessly in DsHidMini? Or do you always need a USB connection in order for the controller to show up in the DsHidMini menu? Asking because I'm unable to get wireless connection between my DS3 and my PC. I am using a bluetooth adapter.
@@ArchadesGames Thank you for the reply. Good to have confirmed it's really supposed to work that way. When it came to the PS2 controller I was at least able to confirm that the most common cause for error are the badly manufactured PS2-to-PS3 adapters, which both remove vibration functionality and make it impossible for DsHidMini to notice the controller. The problem is frequent enough that PCSX2 wizards advice against using those adapters, so they use PS3 controllers instead. Thankfully DsHidMini notices my PS3 controller when the cable is in, but I'm stumped as to why bluetooth won't work.
@@ArchadesGames I have installed the bluetooth driver at the beginning successfully and it doesn't work wirelessly :( is it a specific version number I need to install?
Great tutorial! Can you record something like this for Virtual DualShock 3 controller in reWASD? They claim that now every controller is able to use gyro and pressure sensitive buttons using reWASD and emulating DS3 device.
When using any of these settings for GTA SA on ps2 emulator with usb connected to ds3 official the pressure sensitive driving still doesn’t work and when holding l2 and r2 down all the way the camera glitches it :c when holding it halfway it works properly also I can’t tap X to pedal faster but I can run faster with X, if you have any input lemme know I joined the discord of the guy who made the mod and he has a support channel but not sure I wanna bother him haha
Perfect. Thank you, my friend. One thing, though, is that my DualShock 3 turns off its leds even though the controller is on through Bluetooth. Is this normal or is there a workaround.
I've installed the DSHMC 64x drivers on my computer, plugged in my Dualshock 3, ran the DSHMC.exe file as Administator, and apparently the application does not detect my controller. How do I fix this? Edit: I also checked my Device manager and took a look at my Nefarius driver that I have installed, it says: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
Hello! Awesome guide I got it set up but I am having a problem with it being bluetooth. Whenever I unplug it from my pc it cant be detected for some reason, even though I installed the drivers for them. Any ideas on how to fix?
This is a guide for using DualShock 3 controllers so not sure why you would think it was related to the internal controller of the ROG Ally in the first place tbh.
@@ArchadesGames just to point out in case people misunderstood as you have Rog as part of it and this is a current issue many are having with the internal detection.
[HELP] How to enable pressure sensitive buttons support for generic DualShock 2 SDL controllers in PCSX2 latest Nightly build(s)? So, I'm Playing Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and everything works fine, except that I can't enable pressure sensitive buttons to be recognized by the game, I have tried everything and I don't know what to do next? I must be doing something wrong... Please help.
hello, i don't know if you can help, but i follow all the instruction correctly, but look like in all my ps3 controller the sensivity button (face button in my case) are not working on pc, only on console are working correctly, what can be the problem?
tuff, the driver does not work at all for me. first installation didnt recognize anything, tried all the other removals of drivers, and reinstalled this driver. did not work.
ive successfully connected my ds3 but still my game is very slow. i followed the tutorials on youtube regargind CPU, GPU setting bu still, when i play my game, it is slow. maybe you can help me.. Tnx Am using laptop in Windows 10.
hey i need some help cause i can't comprehend how to do It. i only want to connect 2 PS2 controllers at the same time to do a 1v1 on Budokai Tenkaichi 3 but only one of them can be connected on the DSHMC control tool.
Can't quite figure out how to get rumble to work as when automatically mapping it doesn't assign them nor does it say motors are available. Maybe that means my controller is a fake lmao
Hey bro, Thanks for the video. It really Works! but i have a lil problem, bro. :C Everytime i press Cross the Dualshock 3 lost the control. You know what can i do?
Can anyone help me, I've followed all the instructions, and the XInput source comes up in the box, but no inputs seem to be registering, both in bluetooth and wired. I'm sure it has something to do with the Xinput plugin I put in the PCSX2 directory, pretty stumped atm. Edit: I don't really know what I did to get it working, I did try mess with some settings in HidHide which might've fixed it.
I've followed the instructions and everything works - kinda. My only problem is that in Bluetooth mode my PS3 controller gets automatically assigned the player 4 spot when I turn it on (red light under 4), and there's nothing I can do to make it player 1
@@mcfcxx9849 Yeah, I've been slowly realizing it, lol. I mean, it's not like it isn't an useful feature... Strange though that the dev didn't go with the original behaviour... at least for faithfulness' sake (RPCS3 auto reassigns the led to the player 1 spot, for example).
Not working for me :( I did everything exactly the way you did, but despite the controller being recognized by PCSX2, it simply doesn't work in-game, in fact I can't even map the buttons manually. EDIT: nevermind, I'm just stupid and I forgot I had left Steam running with Steam controller support enabled.
@@ArchadesGames thanks that's good to know I have one DualShock that came with the PS TV I got a couple of years ago still practically brand-new might give it a shot
My Dualshock 3 works without error on my ps3, but after following these steps I'm running into a problem where my controller is constantly reading a hard downwards push on the left analog stick. I tried to calibrate in device manager but it only made it so I could not press down on the remote. Any advice?
@@RussianKhat it ended up being an issue with the controller in my case. I hope in your case it's something else. I'd try plugging it in to a different computer or device and seeing if you get the same issue. When I tried it on my PS3 again it wasn't working.
I'm having this strange issue that only affects the left analog stick. If I tilt it diagonally upwards and to the left, pcsx2 won't read any input, and it will also block any input from the right stick as well but only when the left is in that diagonal position. I have four ps3 controllers and it happens on all of them, so I know it's a software issue. Does anyone have any idea of what's causing this?
I’ve tested all 4 of my PS3 controllers and their all Authentic but I’m having issues where 3 of them when they are connected wirelessly to my pc they connect to port 3 & 4 and I can’t get them to switch to port 1. Anyone know how to force the controllers to go to port 1 so I can use them?
Ok i figured it out! The first controller was used when setting up rpsc3 and it defaulted to port 1. When I switched over to pcsx2 that controller was saved in port 1 there as well. If I want to use another controller in pcsx2, I first have to connect it inside rpcs3 first.
i hear tortured screams........ anyway this works, kinda hope a linux option is available somewhere as it has less bloat- but i'm on windows because it went ka-blwie with my gfx driver so...
