@@jrmartinez1354Nice I’m going to ask Jesus to help diagnose if my issue is with the PSU compatibility or the DIMMs being seated correctly with no dust in the slots.
Color me shocked (and thankful)! I came here after trying to do a simple RAM upgrade by adding a new 16GB RAM stick to my Lenovo tower PC to bring it up to 32 GB. I have done this dozens of times on other PCs for myself and others with no issues. This time, however, the new memory card caused total boot failure with beeping and flashing error lights. Could not even get into BIOS. I reseated the new RAM module with the same result. I swapped the old and new RAM in the original slot and the new RAM worked perfectly. I swapped slots with the old and new RAM with both plugged and hard fail again. At this point, I started searching for help and found this video. It was concise and well done but I thought it was redundant to what I had already done. Then I read the comments and person after person reported that the compressed air fixed the problem. Being the "wise, old" person that I am, I discarded this info since this PC is very clean and I have NEVER had dust cause a RAM slot failure in almost 40 years of PC build and repair work. BUT, I am not totally STUPID and I am capable of learning so I thought maybe it's worth a try. I actually did not have a compressed air can but used a camera lens air bulb to puff some air into the slot. To my amazement, this simple procedure did fix the issue. There must have been the tiniest spec of dust in that 2nd slot and it caused the error even after multiple plugging and replugging. Wow! Thanks for taking the time to post this video and teach an old dog a new trick.
it was the dust... I panicked after cleaning my pc and it won't turn on, I tried brushing the ram stick and there it goes, a cloud of dust formed and after installing it, it worked LMAO
Im so stressed rn. I'm trying this tomorrow morning. Maaan, everytime i buy usedbit perfectly works in their place, then something goes wrong in my place. Feeling cursed.
If you had higher frequency ram before, you might wanna get one stick and boot into bios and then look at the new ram's frequency and change it. That was my issue and i got that solves
0:37 thats funy cause not only is None of my RAM not Booting my PC up. But a Week earlier i woke up to boot my PC and turn on the Monitors but one of em had the screen all glitchy and so i tried everything to troubleshoot it but to no avail. So i needed something to filter my rage out on from not being able to start my PC up to play the classic GTAIV with my wife. (We have a collection RedDead GTAIV&GtaV i was trying earlier to in install a intel i5 but i had to stick with the original cause it wouldn't fit and now am broke :( so i toke a hammer and my knife to the screen. There Problem all fixed. 👋🙂
Ik RedDeads not GTA but tbh it's like it just in the Wild West oh and Mafia definitive edition witch is not RockStar but it's the only game I have that looks just like real life and my new graphics card can run it Perfectly.
This is what i did to get mine to boot well first off it already booted and worked fine before i added more ram so ik it was the ram i took it out booted back up but to get it to work with new ram i had to go into bios and turn off xmp then turn off computer install new ram after it booted into bios again turn xmp back on now everything works as should.
I had the same issue when I went from 16 to 32gb of ram. Take your CMOS battery out and hold down the power button to your PC for about a minute or so. That, or bridge the two pins with something metal like a screwdriver. With all sticks of RAM installed, put the CMOS battery back in, and start it. This fixed my issue. OR Try to disable the XMP in bios using the old sticks, then install the new Sticks, then re-enable XMP.
What helped for me is cleaning the RAM sticks' gold contacts with alcohol and cotton. Before only 2 sticks would make my PC boot after applying that cleaning ,ethod it worked.
Helpppp. I have AMD and my display only works if the original stick of ram is installed with the one stick of the new one but if it's both new one's it doesn't work...
If its not working for anyone just clean the slots with a brush and the ram pins with an eraser, while installing the rams press them a little harder, This probably should fix this problem....
I'm so confused rn. My pc didnt boot, and i found out its cause of the ram, so i bootet it with just one ram stick, and it worked good, then i bootet with the other one and again all worked good. The summary is that i SHOVED THAT BULLSHIT RAM IN and restarted, didnt work again. But, i put both out and in again, it suddently worked. Idk why but it works now👍
Newbies said installing ram is the easiest one. But only professional knew how hard it can be. Pc wont boot, pc bsod suddenly and a lot. My advice, before upgrading or changing ram, set bios to default or reset the bios. Then turn off psu. Pull cmos battery. Pull the ram. Insert cmos battery. Insert 1 ram. Turn on psu. Go to bios. Set as default again. Turn off back. Then install the rest of ram. This is the safest way i can give. Because previous ram will left some memory. That is why some case it wont boot if we change the ram. The pc will be trap in loop. Make sure reset everything first.
I’m in a unique situation, all RAM works in each slot 1-3, 2-4 etc but PC won’t boot up if I put the extra 2 sticks in. Will boot with 2 but not 4…I don’t understand it.
I've tried upgrading to 2 x 16gb 3200 ram sticks. I had 2 x 8gb 3200 in, I tried having all 4 in, wouldnt boot. Tried just the 16s, wouldnt boot. went back to the 8s booted fine. replaced the 16s and tried again and it wouldnt boot even with 1 stick. both sets are same brand and same clock speed. corsiar vengence pro rgb DDR4. the 8gb work in all 4 slots but the 16s not in any.
Clear your motherboard's CMOS (there's usually a jumper and coin battery you'll have to unplug and replug, but you'll have to look at your motherboard and/or it's manual to find where they're located). Afterward, plug back in the old RAM and go from there

Comp wouldn’t boot up, but I could access bios. I changed everything to default & then windows started up. Then I went back into the bios and enabled XMP. Windows works fine now & it shows XMP enabled :)
This shit happened to me over night. Cleaning the slots or switching the RAM sticks around doesn't seem to fix it. I assume both the RAM sticks just decided to die overnight for some reason?
Either that or the slots in the motherboard have died, that actually happened to me many years ago. You'll have to test each module in each individual slot to rule it out.
Damn well while I were just browsing looking for a solution I noticed people commenting about dust and I'm thinking to myself that should have been my first check and is so simple to fix I don't know why I haven't done that but I'm certainly going to now and I'll laugh at myself if that's all it was considering my laptops is in a caravan dust would certainly be quite likely I'm going to go right now and😅 find out
When I was installing my ram I accidentally pushed to hard it cut my finger and there was blood spit on the rams( the motherbored is fine), I don't know what to do about the rams now can someone help me
I just bought new 2x8 gb ram 3200mhz ( match with my cpu and motherboard for sure ) i tried a lot tutorials but i can't fix my black screeenwhen i put back my old ram 2x4 gb ram 2666mhz works good...what should i try ( i tried reseting bios and putting off cmos battery, not help ) ??
Try the modules one-at-a-time in each individual slot; if, in no matter what configuration any of them are in, the PC still fails to boot, that means either the motherboard is not compatible with those modules or they both happen to be faulty (though the latter is unlikely).
I had two ram sticks installed for a long time wanted to install 2 additional sticks but the PC would always turn off after a few seconds and turn on by itself repeating the process. I narrowed the problem down to the first slot(at least I think so), and decided to only use 2 sticks, however now the PC does the exact same thing no matter how many sticks and which slots I use, any advice? I desperately need it
Try looking into the settings for the RAM in the BIOS, if you can get to it. If not, try resetting the CMOS (you take the coin battery out of the board temporarily and then add it back, I don't have a tutorial on this yet but you can look it up)
@@AyCartii If after a RAM installation, your computer started beeping/looping/failing to boot, that means something's wrong, either at least one of the modules and/or slots are bad, typically. In the BIOS, though, underneath wherever the RAM settings are, you can check the timings and speeds it is set to. Make sure they're the same as your RAM's manufacturer's specifications. If they're different, this can lead to boot failures.
@@Torqcx Well thank you for your quick response, the problem is that I don't get that far. It just turns of and starts again, can't get into the boot menu. I assume the motherboard is the problem but it worked just fine before I tried just one stick in slot 1, now any combination isn't working
@@G-DizzleDon Try clearing the CMOS, this is done on the physical board itself which manually resets the BIOS's settings and preferences back to default. After doing so, try again with just one module of RAM at a time. It sounds like the timings and/or speeds may have changed when the new module(s) were installed, but one of them perhaps isn't playing nice with the others.
The issue I have is that pc turns on the 1st time i put ram in, it says 32gb now (31.1 usable). I play cs and stuff for 2-3 hours and then turned off pc. Next time I turned it on it doesn't boot, wtf.
Start by cleaning out all the modules and resetting the CMOS, see if that fixes anything. If you've correctly troubleshot everything and the error persists, the modules may have died.

If none of them are working in any of the other slots, most likely the slots are faulty. If cleaning them out didn't help, it may be time to replace the board.
Interesting. I solved such an issue simply by booting to BIOS, after my PC wouldn't boot up with my old RAM stick either and I had reinstalled the newly bought pair of 16 GB sticks. I still don't know WHY that worked, or why aren't any of the tutorials covering that trick. Sure, I hadn't secured the new sticks properly the first time, but after I had, it still wouldn't work before forcing it to BIOS. So much for the practicality of PC building 🙄. Now I'm afraid of further upgrades that I've had in mind.
Man ! Yesterday i play as usual And everything was okay Today i turn on the computer and Also trouble to boot 3 Times He boot and i watch a video 5 min later No more mouse/keyboard need to turn of with psu off button I try every Slots But again and again that dram light I have once today the cpu light And computer boot 2 sec and off again and again So now i remove the ventirad and see the cpu paste totally dry Îm gonna put some new paste and try again A true headache and today really dont understand And since 4 days i have the computer who boot in twice mode One just a few second and after normaly but the fans makes some heavy sound They turn too fast and the gpu in games is a totaly disaster Config : asus rog strix z390e gaming I9 9900k 5ghz 1060 6go Ddr4 hyper x 2x16 go
My pc used to work without issue, but since I returned from a trip, it began randomly experiencing boot failures (as in I could not even get into BIOS), but it would usually randomly work again after I do some random sh1t to it and restart a few times. But now it really can't boot no matter what. During my trip, the humidity levels back home was way high, to the point that the walls are wet. I think that may have caused some problems??? Also I bought a possibly sketchy new monitor with a possibly sketchy displayport cable. I heard that a faulty pin 20 can cause boot issues, but I still can't boot even after switching to hdmi so that can't be it right? The debug led on the motherboard indicates that it's the dram that's the problem, but idk. My motherboard is asrock b760m rs/ds wifi, ram is pny xlr8, gpu is rx6600.
You can also try resetting the CMOS, look up how to do that but basically you just take out the coin battery for a few seconds and put it back in. Often times this can fix BIOS/motherboard issues.
@@hamdighost I blew compressed air into all 4 slots, and I wiped with 90% isopropyl alcohol and they still are having issues.. 2 are working fine, but my other 2 are not, and we've tried everything so I'm kind of at a loss :/

Try resetting the CMOS (I currently don't have a video on this, but basically you take the coin battery out of the motherboard for a few seconds then put it back in. This will not affect your system's programs or files).
So after checking if each 4 of my ram sticks work, checking the BIOS version, thinking its a power issue, struggling for 2 hours! all I had to do WAS BLOW ON IT???!!! Everything works now, thanks mate
To those who couldn't figure out was wrong here's what worked for me: Do the dust cleaning, and if that doesn't work go into BIOS and turn on/off XMP. Now boot with the new ram and BOOM. It worked for me.
Are there any other possible causes for this ram boot-up failure besides these ones? Like for example, having multiple antivirus installed and running in the pc?
I've never heard of software of any kind causing a failure to boot, as software being loaded requires the OS it is installed on to be loaded initially.
I have a b550 ds3h motherboard and im trying to get g.skill tridentz to work 2x16gb dual channel. My old ram 2x8gb works flawless in any slot. The new ones will only work single rank in b2 (tested both sticks in this slot). Any other slot it won't boot at all despite the RGB turning on and trying to run it dual channel in B1/b2 makes the board beep 3 times. Tried everything except for compressed air.. would that really be it if my other memory sticks work just fine? Would appreciate some help
Thanks but my issue is my DDR5 get stuck after restart, RMA'd my Ram kit got a new kit without explanation. Meets QVL mobo list and not sure why Expo 1 CL30 6000MHZ or Expo 2 CL 40 5600 doesn't work 🤔
I just wanted to upgrade my laptop ram to 8gb , I previously had a 4gb ram module and got an additional 4gb one. but the laptop is stuck in a boot loop.I tried everything nothing works. here's what i tried: 1) the hard reset 2) the cmos clearing 3) changing the slots 4) trying just one at a time and in different slots 5) cleaning up the motherboard and everything . yet still stuck . anyone got any advice ? thanks
First try clearing your system's CMOS, I don't currently have a video on this but there are plenty of tutorials out there on how to do so. Basically you take your motherboard's coin battery out for a few seconds then put it back in, this will reset your BIOS (this will not affect your computers data, programs, files etc.). Using 4x16GB XMP 6400 won't work (long boots and blue screen crashes) so motherboards with 4 slots is pointless. Go 2x32GB in slot 2/4 if you want 64GB.
I got this problem but dont know how to fix, I installed 32GB RAM (4 sticks) and use PC for hours then it suddenly restarted. From that moment I can't install more than 2 RAM sticks, if I do that the mainboard emit an orange light on DRAM sections. Been trying to fix for 2 days and still can't resolve the problem. Please help me. I'm using Asus B760 TUF and x4 HyperX 2666 8GB and I'm pretty sure the problem is not come from other parts. Thank you so much!!!
Very likely it's an issue with either the RAM modules or the slots they're in. If you've already blew out the slots for dust, reseated the modules, and reset the CMOS on the motherboard, there unfortunately isn't much left to do except troubleshoot whether it's the modules' or slots' fault. If any of the modules went bad, replacing them should solve the problem. If it's any of the slots, the motherboard would need to be replaced if you were otherwise unable to increase your RAM capacity with the one you currently have.

I wouldn't boot after adding an extra 16GB of RAM(2x8). They were the same sticks but all 4 wouldn't run at XMP settings and I had to lower the speed. But I was also able to lower the latency as an offset.
After I installed call of duty my pc started running super slow and after a but it turns black and says no hdmi signal and when i try to play a game like roblox my ping is 70 which is good but there is so much input lag i also can’t even watch shows because it buffers i need help so if you read this please help!
Without more information, I cannot determine whether the issues you've been having are RAM-related or not. If you've already troubleshot the RAM and are still having the same issues, you will have to start testing out the other components and/or software. Good luck!
@@Torqcx I did some type of scan and it fixed it after i uninstalled cod! next time ill wait and buy more ram to get cod im just glad everything is good now but thank you for responding
@@Torqcx i found out that the issue was that “OmenInstallMonitor” file kept duplicating and taking up all my memory and disk and the solution was too uninstall omen game hub. For some reason, I couldn’t change anything in my Gigabyte Bios. But after I unplugged the battery for 20 seconds, with no power cable and turned on my PC with all 4 Ram blocks. It worked perfectly 🙂
Make sure your RAM sticks are all the way in! I couldn’t figure out why they weren’t working and then I just looked at them and realized they weren’t in all the way 🤦🏻♂️
Here's another solution that worked for me but isn't anything physical. I upgraded from 2x8GB sticks 3200mhz to 2x16GB 3600mhz. I had to boot into the BIOS (Spam the DEL or F2 key during boot up) and enable XMP. Hope this helps someone else.
I’ve had 16 gb for a while and tried to but 2 16 gb sticks in and it turned on but no display and flashing orange light on motherboard, switched it back and it worked fine idk what’s wrong with the 32 gb ram I just got.
I just built my pc all new parts but the ram will not working in proper slots and only 1 stick works in b2 and if i use the consair ram i just bought they work in b1and b2 but not where they supposed to work. And when i load up cant run any games it instantly crashes. Dram light is on motherboard when i try to put ram in any other slots
If after resetting the CMOS you still cannot get any of the RAM to work in those slots, the board may be defective. If you built everything new, you should be able to get it replaced.
So my pc will only boot up with one stick on the fourth dimm slot and if I put ram in the other dimm slots it has an ab/a6 error on the motherboard display does anyone know what the problem is?
If you already tried cleaning the slots out, and tested each RAM module you have in each slot individually and you still are not having any luck, the slots may be bad and the board would have to be replaced if you'd want to make use of them.
Thats not my problem i did Change xmp Profile and now my mainbord is just working worh 1 ddr5 and Not it dont run with 2 and this is the 3 time that he do that i did buy 8 Ddr5 this time it cant be
No its "not turning on" like..actually not turning on.. before that it was "not boosting up".. i was trying to test the ram..wich also didnt want to work as it didnt wanna boot up with the usb using mem86. And "Just choose and dont forget to save your change and exit" i did. Goddamn annoying
the solution maybe that need to reset your bois setting to default , then aply ram sticks one at a time per start up , this may be needed when adding stick that matched to an AMD board, this guy just talking to hear his self
Start by removing the RAM and cleaning the slots. If, after re-insertion, your system still doesn't boot up, clear the CMOS (I currently don't have a video on the topic but there are plenty you can watch here on RU-vid on how to do that), and try booting up again. If none of that solves the problem, troubleshoot each slot and each module, one-at-a-time, to determine whether any of the slots or modules went bad.
I had 2 ram sticks and my pc was working fine. I bough the exact same replica and put 4 in and now my pc starts but it dosent boot up. My cooler is to big to keep taking off and putting back on. Any ideas?
You would have to troubleshoot each individual slot and each individual module if you'd want to completely rule out what is causing the system to fail to boot. Unfortunately there isn't really another way to do this.
@@Torqcx i fixed it. i removed my large cpu cooler and i took each ram stick out and placed it back in one by one. i did this over and over again and on my last try i placed all 4 ram sticks in and told myself if it doesn't boot I'm finished trying and it booted up. I'm only worried if this over works my pc now. because my fans are spinning and making a lot more noise now that i have 4 ram sticks instead of 2. any idea why my pc is making more noise? Thanks for the help
@@libanarab5883 As long as your system can successfully boot with all the RAM, it shouldn't be overworking it; the fact that the fans sound louder now is a new one to me, though. Is it your heatsink fan(s) that sped up or your case fans? All-in-all though I honestly wouldn't sweat it, the system may just be attempting to compensate for the extra power it is now supplying to the additional hardware installed.
@@Torqcx hey man thanks alot for helping me out though. wish there were more people like u on the internet. fans arent as loud as i thought. maybe i was hearing things
My ASUS motherboard only likes the RAM that came with the board, 2 sticks of 1G that have cooling loops on top of them, sticks of 2G that work in other computers will not allow the computer to boot up, any ideas?
If the sticks (modules) that don't work are the exact correct specifications your motherboard specifies it can handle, and they work in other systems, try resetting the system's CMOS and try again with the modules. If you still don't get any luck, those modules may just not like that board.
Just upgraded to 2x16gb from 2x8gb and my pc won’t open any games, or it will try and freeze where as before I could play all games perfectly??? Any ideas??
It sounds like at least one of the new modules are bad, so long as you're 100% sure they're both fully compatible with your system. A bold test would be to reinstall the OS and see if that fixes it, but honestly I would just try new modules.
@@Torqcx I was able to get it, instead of where the old ram sticks were, they needed to be in the other two slots. Which is weird because my pc booted up when the ram sticks were placed in the slots where the old ram was. It was when I restarted it that caused the issue. Now everything is working fine thanks for the video and the help and the fast reply :)
You may need to reset the BIOS. You can do this by clearing CMOS (take the coin battery out of the motherboard for a few seconds and then put it back in, there may be a jumper you need to switch as well; it depends on your board). Look up how to do this as I don't currently have a video on it. But it's very simple and will not mess with any of your computer's data
@@Torqcx yah that’s was also my thoughts as well but putting a new motherboard in resulted in same issue. Tested a buddies cpu and solved the issue though.
Added additional ram- Bios started beeping. Solution: Disabling quickstart in Bios and in Windows , before installing additional ram , solved it for me.
If after resetting the CMOS you still have no luck, with any module in any slot, the motherboard may be defective. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do other than replace the board, in that scenario.
Look up your motherboard's model (you can download and run the free program Speccy to find its name) and then "manual" in a search engine. A PDF should typically pop up.
@Torqcx yeah that doesn't actually work. I googled the serial number, model number, and I searched manually through the manufacturers catslogue and it's nowhere to be found.
@@FlashesSoccer011 From what I looked up, that's an OEM PC and its motherboard model is called the 90PF02T0. If you cannot find a manual for it, I'd start with the slot that is one slot away from the CPU (normally called a lot A2) and go from there. Considering there's only four slots, it shouldn't be too difficult to test.
So basically my problem is one of the slots is not working and every time I plug any kind of RAM stick in it the screen goes black I think the problem might be not from the motherboard but from the CPU itself because it has an accident, could it be that case.
I don't believe the CPU would cause an issue like that, it sounds like it is the slot in the motherboard, especially if you already attempted to clean it out
@@Torqcx I really hope what you are saying is exactly my case because if not I would be buying a whole motherboard and wasting the last bit of my money without actually fixing anything, maybe buying a motherboard with 4 or 8 slots will be reassuring to me, and sorry for mumbling so much I just want to know my problem and how to fix it, I really wish if there was some kind of program that tells you if the problem is from one component in your PC, anyway there is something that made me think the problem is not from the motherboard but from the CPU because when I plug the RAM stick in the second slot I don't just get a black screen the fan of my CPU doesn't start rotating either.
