I am trying to add some simple footprint for through hole parts (a potentiometer joystick) and there is no throughhole parts....any clue as to how I can get a footprint??
If the generator cannot create a footprint try looking in the Manufacturer Part Search panel. If that does not have your CAD data then try to look on SnapEDA or onlinecomponents
Creating a footprint from scratch typically requires more time (creating all layers, getting proper dimensions (for assembly, soldering, spacing), finding a 3D model, etc.). With the IPC Wizard you also get a certain level of uniformity between footprints and within your library (layers, naming, models, etc.).
@@PhilsLab Thank you vor your reply. I don't know if I understand your reply not correctly or if I was unclear. My understanding would be that Altium comes with a library of standard footprints. What is the advantage of taking an oven-ready footprint vs. an IPC Wizard one?
