The problem with the four quick set control of the keyboard instruments is the QuickSet will ONLY accept factory presets, there is no provision for adding custom tones. It will save all the settings you made on the instruments in QS1, but 2, 3, and 4 will have only presets available. There is no use in saving the hard worked custom instruments you set up in the main panel because these are saved in the Bank/Registration anyway. The work-around is to save a new registration for each of the 4 keyboard instruments you set up in the main menu. Then if you have 3 different instrument setups for the song you want to perform, make sure that you store them all on the same Bank, such as Bank12/registration 6, 7, 8. You now have full access to 3 completely different keyboard instruments setups that can be as custom as you wish. Set up your first registration and when finished save, and then copy to the next registration and begin all the new keyboard instrument setup again. I agree with you, the QuickSet function is useless for anyone desiring highly unique and custom keyboard sounds with full effects options. The Bank/Registration save is very powerful saving all the custom work you set up for a song to perform; obviously it does not save edits to tones and styles, these are separate saves within the edit of each style or tone. I guess I can live without the QuickSet, but hope for a firmware update on this.

Another little frustration is when editing keyboard instruments layer 2, 3 and 4, when finished editing and saved, the save replaces instrument #1 and places the last edit there. Meaning you have to replace #1 with the instrument you first had in there every time you edit any tone other than #1.

thank you I have learned alot from this video I am new to the Medeli but have a few other professional synths I play in a band and at home recording into my DAWI I was wondered if you possibly know the answer to this midi out question I have as I can not see it in the manual. I see the midi settings page talks about R1 R2 R3 L1 midi settings seems simple enough , but what about if you have the drums pattern/style playing on the keyboard? is it possible to send the drums midi note info out to a computer DAW? I have a very high end drums program and I'd prefer to use it sounds just for the drums. So where do you set the drums channel out number? or is it set to some default channel out? I'd want to play the keyboard live as normal but just have the internal drums sounds set at zero volume and send the midi notes out for the drums to the DAW in the computer so it can play my drums from the computer. I prefer Roland's idea of quantize; the quantize can be set to the normal note value, but also a range of movement to perfect lock from 1 to 100% is also an option. I agree with you, quantize should never adjust the length of the note, human feel is eliminated...but I feel 100% quantize to the perfect grid is also de-humanizing.

Another frustration is the four Phrase pads will not accept custom instruments saved in user tones. Again only factory presets may be used for instruments of the pads. The work-around I plan for this is....the Phrase Pads will output MIDI from the 5pinMIDI connection on MIDI channels 5, 6, 7 and 8. I am going to use out-board synths for the Phrase Pads receiving on these MIDI channels, I plan to replace the Medeli internal tones with other synths on Channels 5, 6, 7, 8.

Thank you for all your videos on this keyboard. I have read the PDF manual twice now, and watched all your video's....there are still unknowns....so....I bought a Medeli AKx10 today. Maybe between the two of us we can learn the style creator and alternatives to get the job done. I have no use for any preset styles or sounds, so will be creating all my own styles and edited/layered instruments. So I will be going deep into the operating system of this keyboard and using all the features this keyboard has to offer. Lets work together :)

Hello, I've been watching the development for over a year now and was planning to buy an AKX10. You can see that Medeli is trying to improve the AKX10. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the firmware is still not mature enough to work creatively with it. I bought the Casio MZ-X500 keyboard years ago. The operating manual there is a disaster and at the same time the options offered are incredibly large. Unfortunately, the Casio also has some firmware problems and is no longer being developed. But there are workarounds for problems that are now known. With the AKX10, I was impressed by the 768MB sample memory and SF2 import. The MZ-X500 has only 256MB and can manage a maximum of 1000 mono samples. But they are synthesizer functions, such as filters, much better for sound tinkerers like me. Programming an arranger style is not very intuitive. If you only use ready-made styles, you will quickly achieve impressive results with an arranger keyboard. But then it always sounds like something you've already heard. If you want to play well-known pieces, this may be a great thing. But the individuality is lost. Without my own sounds and styles, music production is not interesting for me. In my opinion, without a DAW there is only the current AKAI MPC series so far. In stand alone mode, samples can be edited quickly, the sequencer allows 128 MIDI tracks and the effects are similar to those of a DAW. You can easily connect MIDI keyboards and additional audio interfaces, additional MIDI interfaces and PC keyboards to the MPC ONE. No other product on the market is as flexible. The price of an MPC ONE is similar to that of the AKX10. For these reasons I decided not to buy an AKX10 after all. Thank you for your videos, which gave me an overview of the AKX10.

Don't know if you're aware but the price of this has just increased dramatically. I'm in the UK and Medeli don't retail here so my only option is to risk buying from one of the music supermarkets in Europe. I'd saved enough to buy one this week - only to have the price shoot up from £599 to around £645 - same huge price hike at all online retailers. That's around 760 Euros and hugely reduces the difference between this an a keyboard from the better supported brands - at least in the UK. It's certainly enough of an overnight price hike to have me looking around at the big names - can't see this selling at more than £600.

I am still confused on this chord choice for recording styles...this should SCALE choice not chord...unless the limitation of using only notes in the AM chord (for example) remains in the Medeli operating system? So when recording style pitches does it include all the notes in the AM scale..or...just the notes in the AM chord????? Thank you for all your help on these video's, I am hoping this is my next keyboard purchase.
